He was back... for one or two weeks maybe. Hidden in the many weeks of absence. :) --- A few thoughts on this. Listening to EDM weekly mixes for 10+ years, I strongly believe other producers/DJs who have weekly shows for years do have "ghost produced" episodes. When they are not available, and some young guns were hired (mostly for a promise to get released on the DJs label or get a collab) to produce the weekly mix under the main person's name. With this said, I would like to give kudos to Rich for not following this practice, and having guest mixers under their own name. On the other hand, yes, it feels ages. Rich used to have a strong presence on Twitch, making PTR episodes live (not to mention the Morning Shows). But in the last - I'd say - 18 months he feels less and less and less interested to make the show. I know Twitch streamers with 3-6 streams a week, and with a total of 40-70 hours a week can still struggle to get decent money out of it. For Rich as a producer and a label owner, I think the weekly episodes are for promoting their new releases, also promotion exchange with other labels etc. But would this need to do the episode live? Absolutely no. And would RIch make more money doing a gig live (with paid flights and hotels, probably for the whole family)? Absolutely yes. If one puts these on a scale, the obvious choice to travel and drop the shows live, instead of streaming on Twitch/YT. Pre-Covid Solarstone did fill the PTR episodes with recordings of his gigs, sometimes 3-6 hours long ones. Quite sad that this is not happening anymore. Times changed. I think it's getting harder and harder to upload a mix that doesn't bring an immediate copyright strike from some greedy corporation. (Note, that sometimes producers can't play their own music because of some idiot YT algorithm that claims a copyright breach on it.) So, yes, it feels ages. More likely it feels that in 2024 Solarstone outed from 1/4 - 1/5 of PTRs. I still see the reasons, and for us, fans, the only way remained to adapt. I personally re-listen to older PTRs. There were some really good ones around the 250-350 era.
@@MinekEzQM I think this is a pretty solid take. I’ve been listening to the show since 2017 before it was done live. I can’t understand why he can’t just pre record some episodes knowing he’ll be away and broadcast those. I don’t much care for these guest mix episodes. In terms of all other radio shows yup it’s true majority of them aren’t even mixed by the hosts of the show anymore. I think that’s been a thing for a long time now. Respect to Rich for doing it live. But I can see that doing gigs might be necessary for him right now as I’m sure just doing the radio show and releasing singles on the label are more for promotional tools than anything. I dunno I feel like something has to give with PTR eventually.
