I was born there in 1939 but remember riding in "the golden bathtub" as my Dad called it. We lived about a mile from St Joseph's - -wonderful to see it under construction ! Also went to McGill , and trained as a nurse at "The Vic ". Many thanks.

It was fascinating spotting the same places, landmarks and buildings that I walk by or enter on a daily basis. Thanks for posting!

So cool to watch film of 1927 Montreal as this same year my late mother was born in Montreal.

My parents were born in 1936-37 in Montreal... Thanks for sharing, I can peek at the type of town they grew up in.

The observation car we see, no 4, is at the Connecticut Trolly Museum. Nos 1 and 3 are at Exporail in St-Constant and 2 is at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, ME. This is the only full series of streetcars to be preserved.
Also nice to see some early Montreal Tramways buses running on Sherbrooke.
I love the history of my city, and I always look to learn more. Also love the history of public transit in the city and the area in general.
My paternal grandfather, who was 12 in 1927, arrived with his parents from Larino, Italy in 1919. My late dad was born here in 1940, my mum in 1935 and myself 52 years ago in 17 days.

Terry Ramsaye was, I believe, an important early film historian.

Bonjour les villes étaient belles avant, à la dimension humaine, assez espacées, comment on a pu changer l histoire ? Par haine ? Non respect de la vie des anciens

Wow, it was a really beautiful and thriving city. Whatever happened to it, it's really sad.

I blame the Americans and the liberal party, they both destroyed centuries of Canadian culture in the 60s and ever since the 60s, things have slowly been going downhill.

You (whoever you are) should remove the annoying Time Code from this otherwise lovely footage. Totally useless.
