    Cut-Rate Commander - Precon Upgrade Guide for the Desert Bloom Precon from Outlaws of Thunder Junction & its commander - Yuma, Proud Protector #mtg #edh #commander #MTGOTJ #MTGThunder
    Hey folks! Submitted for your approval, we have the 1st precon upgrade guide for Outlaws of Thunder Junction - this time covering the Desert Bloom precon and its face commander - the Desert Loving Self-Land Destroying Yuma, Proud Protector.
    In this upgrade - we'll be building upon the base already solid land centric foundations by refining what the deck is already good at get even more mileage out of its land sacing / land recursion centric gameplan - namely by adding in even more ways to sac our lands & tutor up our deserts to ensure we can reliable proc Yuma's token creation as frequently as possible, inserting even more ways to get additional lands into play from our hand & graves to replenish the lands we sacrifice as quickly as we tear them down for value, and overhauling our landfall payoffs to generate us even more board presence and value as we have our lands constantly enter and leave play - giving Yuma all the tools he'll need to turn our deserts and lands into a army we can all truly be proud of.
    Let me know if the comments below if you agree with my choices and/or what you would add to the deck instead.

    An additional $ upgrade that could be added is waves of aggression. No one usually expects the extra combats, especially not in a landfall deck that is also reusable.
    I don't even have to look at the poll to know Felix will overwhelmingly win. Sadly, the most straightforward/easiest deck to build.

      I agree with you but I find Felix far and way too easy to work with as the number of cards with saboteur abilities is ridiculously staggeringly high and yes I did buy the grand larceny deck as Gonti is the challenge not Felix. Just the ninjas alone which are a relative Sultai tribe almost all have Saboteur effects and then there are two cards that are Sultai colors that have saboteur effects themselves one of them can even be used as an alternative commander: the two cards are Vorosh the hunter which I describe as the "green" planar chaos dragon as it is a 6/6 flying for 3BGU that also reads as follows whenever Vorosh the hunter deals combat damage to player you may pay 2G if you do out six +1/+1 counters effectively turning it into a 12/12 flying beat stick after just one connecting attack and if you have Felix out and can afford the 4GG you can get an 18/18 after just one attack. The other saboteur creature is a 23 year old card this year by the name of fungal shambler which is a 6/4 trampler for 4BGU that reads as follows whenever Fungal shambler deals combat damage to a player you draw a card and that player discards card and at being a 6/4 with trample the odds are you will get at least one trigger out of this and Felix makes it two cards drawn and discarded. This is what I mean by Felix is far and way too easy to work with. My vote is for Vihaan gold waker as he seems like a very high risk high reward commander as treasure cards in Mardu I don't think are that numerous and are we willing to throw our limited mana resources away for a chance at victory as Mardu also isn't all that great at ramp either outside of the treasure tokens and being 3/3 bodies isn't that big as many board sweeps can do 3+ damage to all creatures. I'm just curious as to the challenge bestowed of keeping the treasure tokens alive and the mana flowing that's why I'm voting for Vihaan gold waker but if you love Felix Five boots god bless you and don't let me discourage you as he is an awesome commander to use

    I would recommend Annie Joins Up as a possible include. It deals 5 damage and doubles up legendary creature triggers, making you able to sac 2 lands draw 2 cards and if you sac 2 deserts you make 4 plant warriors.

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What do you feel about this card vs Hazezon as the commander? I have been tuning Hazezon for a bit but I'm not sure if I want to run him as the commander for not

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Honestly, they both play well into the desert gameplan so its really a matter of preference. Hazezon, Shaper of Sand doesn't require us to constantly destroy our deserts to create tokens, so we can go in a more "traditional" build direction with him (though we'll still want to include some ways to get deserts into our bin to get use of his desert recursion), while with Yuma we certainly need to lean heavily into razing our land base for value.
      That said, both of them will have a lot of the same cards in their builds so, if I had to pick one, I would say Yuma may be slightly better due to him being able to enable himself with his ETB/on attack land destruction and generates us value in the form of card advantage, both things Hazezon can't do on his own.
      Hope that helps!

  • @devanpurser

    Surprised From the Ashes didn’t end up in here, card seems insane since the commander is per desert destroyed and you get a bunch of lands to replace them

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its most certainly not a bad inclusion - being able to pop all our deserts to get a huge amount of Yuma triggers and then replace all this lands for even more landfall triggers off other landfall matters payoffs seems solid - but I personally feel like the build already has enough ways to blow up our own land base for value that doesn't potentially help our opponents with any Landfall Triggers they have.
      Still, I really wouldn't be able to fault anyone for including this in their list because, when it works, it can most certainly create gigantic boardstates for us.

  • @VinceOfAllTrades
    @VinceOfAllTrades 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Any reason why you didn't include Blossoming Tortoise? Seems great for this.

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would be due to budget constraints - I couldn't quite figure out what to cut for it while staying within the builds $35 budget. That said, it is still a fantastic addition if you want to go over budget, since it des do a lot for the deck with its repeatable land milling and reanimation (though it does run the risk of hitting things we can't recur, so do keep that in mind).

      Yeah, Moraug, Fury of Akoum certainly works here - with all the builds lands constantly entering, leaving, and re-entering the battlefield, we can certainly get a large amount of extra combat phases and AOE power increases our of him for sure. Good suggestion!
