One of the most touching moments in the history of the Simpsons. As stupid and aloof as Homer is, he really does love his children despite his inadequacies. This clip is a perfect example of that.
in these new seasons homer is a sadistic I preferred him in the old days, who managed to explore a beautiful humor and still make you cry with emotion.
Unlike Peter Griffin, Homer has always been a lovable douche who's really bad at what he does, including parenting. But him being bad at it doesn't mean he doesn't try, or that he doesn't love his family. He's the man who was headbutted repeatedly by deers while protecting Bart, the one that decided to spend his money in a saxophone for Lisa instead of buying an Air Conditioner. The one who worked two jobs at the same time so her daughter could have her wanted pony. And well, there's this video about Maggie.
Don’t forget Lisa becomes President of the United States of America and Bart becomes Chief Justice of the Supreme Court! Both Homer and Marge should be such proud parents!
This is the reason Simpson is better than griffin Peter is an idiot and an abusive husband and father homer from season 1 to now is a drunk idiot but he try's his damnedest to be a good husband and father (excluding chocking Bart)
Everyone always says why does marge always put up with all the stupid crap Homer does. This episode explains it best in my opinion. He might act selfish at time but every big decession he does is for the family. Had his dream job and was loving it but gave it up in a heart beat for his family. Such a touching episode one of the few episodes that actually makes me have a tear in my eye.
Absolutely. There's been many times Homer has given up the chance for lots of money for the sake of his family. - When Homer got a new high-layong job with Scorpio. He ends up quitting at the end when his family was unhappy with the move. - When Maggie gave Mr Burn's bear back, for free. Out of her own volition. - When Lisa ripped the check Mr Burns gave her, because she was disgusted and unhappy with how she earned the money. Etc.
As a brand new father working a well paying but shit job so I can support my family, this episode just brings me to tears every time. You do what you have to for your kids, even if it sucks so that you can give them everything.
This is why I don't have kids - I'm too irresponsible - but I have all the respect in the world for parents like you who struggle every day in order to put food on the table and give your kids the best opportunities you can.

It's kinda weird how Homer can strangle Bart with stubby fingers, but the strangling used to be reasonable before. Now Homer strangles Bart for basically everything the boy does.
I've loved the Simpsons show my whole life. I started watching it when I was just a little boy. Growing older, I've come to realise that the older episodes were some of the most fun and enthusiastic shows ever made. It really mirrored some real-life lessons and showed how the world is full of problems, while also staying true to its characters and how to engage with these problems. This right here is one of them. It ain't easy being a father of three kids, working long-hours at a job that you don't like, while having a mean boss. Homer might be the dumb, lazy and funny father, but he's also full of heart. This goes to show how much he loves his wife and children. Many of us can actually relate to a lot of things that are shown here, whether it be something cruel or engaging. Now that I'm older and see the bigger picture of the show, I come to realise that the Simpsons was really ahead of its time. It might've been a show that many people either didn't like or simply missunderstood, but it sure was the show that taught me many good things in life, all while serving plenty of laughter. The Simpsons will forever be remembered as the best TV show ever made, in my opinion.
Yeardley Smith (the actress who voices Lisa) describes Homer the best: Homer is "the really well-meaning, but absolutely stupid, eat too much, super dumb dad that we all love."
Let me get this straight. Mr. Burns: 1. Didn't press charges against Homer for assault, destruction of property, and arson (literally burning a bridge). 2. Allowed Homer his old job back instead of refusing to hire him or giving him a demeaning job. 3. Just put a sign on his wall to mock him and allows him to decorate it as he sees fit. This may be the kindest thing Mr. Burns has done.
Mr. Burns thinks he's tormenting him and it makes him happy, because he doesn't understand what's it like to care about something other than money and power. I think the idea is that Mr. Burns thinks he's humiliating Homer, but Maggie reminds Homer that he has everything he needs.
Congratulations man. Hope you and your wife or girlfriend make the most of this journey together and hope your child is the best of the both of you. Take care and good luck man.
I love how human this episode made homer. You could actually relate to all his feelings. And the moment of despair of leaving his dream job and going back to a job he actually loathed for his family. All that didn't matter the second Maggie was born. He saw her as the biggest prize of his life.

When Homer says, “I gotta carry the burden all by myself”, that is a very powerful statement. Homer loves his family so much that he doesn’t even want them to subjected to how he truly feels because he doesn’t want them to feel sad with him or to take on the burden with him. Homer feels his family is more important than himself and do not deserve to be sad or depressed with him

the fact that the Simpsons can make a perfectly paced emotional scene in the show set in multiple different paces with so many different things happening all in under 3 minutes without feeling too rushed shows how pacing SHOULD be done, some shows need to take note.
No because sometimes dads really don’t get enough credit. Especially the dads like Homer🥺 For the men sacrificing their wants for their children’s needs…you’re appreciated and amazing☺️🤍
In Lisa's wedding she has Homer's photo on her wall hinting at a close relationship and they both share an interest in rock music as opposed to Lisa who Homer bought a saxophone for and only likes Jazz. Future Maggie seems to have Bart's attitude and Lisa's intelligence meaning she and Homer could share the same type of humour and goof off together whilst still Lisa is more righteous.

Actually the shot of the Maggie pictures is from the present day. Homer says he keeps them where he needs the most cheering up. He doesn't say kept.
Aw yeah I never noticed that before, well spotted! i'm sure it was just the reusing the same background or something
+helloman107 a wizard did it
+helloman107 She's a Time Lord.
Damn, it's been many years since I seen this episode and this still kicks me right in the feels.
Frick I was just on a nostalgia trip but here I go a-crying again.
I love how he was resentful of the baby but then the second he met her that all went away.
And that is what made the Simpsons back then one of the greatest shows ever produced. It was so funny in one scene and incredibly touching in the other.
I used to laugh so hard with this episode as a kid. Now as a dad it hits home every time.
Quit a job I liked for a better paying job that I hate but did it to support my first baby. Really needed this before clocking in. Seeing his smile makes everything worth it
the fact that the Simpsons can make a perfectly paced emotional scene in the show set in multiple different paces with so many different things happening all in under 3 minutes without feeling too rushed shows how pacing SHOULD be done, some shows need to take note.
Thank you for this video, I found it right when I needed it.
I made this poster for my daughter and put it up at my work. It helped me get through the toughest times at my job. It took 5 months to complete.
Ahh right in the feels
Homer may barely have a brain, but he's definitely got a heart
That's what made the Simpsons so great
I cry a little every time I see this episode! The unconditional love parents have for their kids ❤
Right in the feels. Golden era Simpsons right here
The most touching moment in all of the Simpsons. Makes me tear up every time
Man if that doesn't put a tear to your eye, I don't know what does.
Never fails to make me tear up 😢🙌🏾
futurama and simpsons supposed to make as laugh, and they make us sob so many times...thank u matt
He quit his dream job to support his family. He's a great man at heart
no matter how many times i watch it i just cry because it inspires me
"Company policy to give you the plague" is probably the hardest laugh I've had with this show, or any animated show.
I'm not crying. There's just something in my eye....
Acid rain.
No because sometimes dads really don’t get enough credit. Especially the dads like Homer🥺 For the men sacrificing their wants for their children’s needs…you’re appreciated and amazing☺️🤍
Came to watch this to try and push through one more Friday and now I’m at my desk crying
Sorry meme, but you will never beat this shining moment. It melts all barriers. Makes the heart cry. And brightens all there is.❤
OK, I'm bawling like a baby now. This scene just hits you right in the feels
This is hands down my favourite episode
There will never be another episode even half as beautiful as this one
i really do genuinely think maggie would grow up to be homers princess no matter what
In Lisa's wedding she has Homer's photo on her wall hinting at a close relationship and they both share an interest in rock music as opposed to Lisa who Homer bought a saxophone for and only likes Jazz. Future Maggie seems to have Bart's attitude and Lisa's intelligence meaning she and Homer could share the same type of humour and goof off together whilst still Lisa is more righteous.
Can't watch this scene without shedding atleast 1 tear
That's why i love the Simpsons. No matther what crazy stuff Homer does at the End he is a loving Husband and Father.
Every loving father she'd a tear to this.
