- DC enters the world of CMON's United games, and raises the stakes with some new mechanisms, and of course, all the DC super heroes and villains you might expect. We've got the game unpacked on our table, show you as much as we can, AND share some details you might find interesting.

The way Batman chooses equipment BEFORE the game starts, is Very Batman. That is his Super Power... to be Prepared for ANYTHING.

Yeah, that one is particularly fun and thematic--just imagining him bouncing from location to location with an attack here, and a heroic action there. Very cool.
About the Marvel VS DC thing, I started with Marvel because my father used to love it. I liked it, but I wasn't really that into it. Then like a year or two ago I started watching Young Justice (which I hope we get as an expansion here) and now I'm 100% a DC fan, I'm loving it so much. I'd say so far my favorite character is Nightwing, but my favorite story is the Batman: White Knight trilogy
I love both, but DC animation is where my heart is. I watched the early seasons of Young Justice, but haven't caught up with the later stuff they added once it was on max/HBO. It would be so cool if their license allows for them to not only touch on various characters, but also different media iterations. If they had a box that celebrated the Batman: The Animated Series versions of the characters...whoa, that would be amazing.
@@meeple Oooooh that would be awesome. And I loved the later seasons of YJ, they decided to touch on certain subjects which I think might be very beneficial for well, "young adults" to know about

@@meeple So far they've mainly been exposed to Lego Batman and some easy reader kids books. We just started Justice League Action, and they really like the HISHE Batman song (Sound of Violence).

Starting hand cards (and bottom deck cards) were introduced with the X-Men wave. ;) But god damn it, I have nearly everything from united... and now I want more XD

@@meeple You as a channel need to keep up with so much, its completely understandable that you sometimes mess up a little. I only have like a dozen boardgames - and Marvel United is one of my absolute favorits, so its of course easier to me, as I can be more focused. Keep up the good work guys ☺

I love DC more than Marvel. I will probably not back this as I backed the DC Zombicide.
I'd have all the Marvel Zombies stuff, and haven't yet gone through all that content. They sure do offer a lot of game.
Funny enough, I didn't go all in on DCeased because of the tease for DC United at the end of the campaign...glad holding off was worth it as I personally prefer the United system to zombicide.
I do not look forward the CMON shipping costs! Will wait for retail.
Usually I'd agree but tbf the stretch goals with united really offsets the shipping, just depends if you want that much content or just the base game.
Seriously I always say I'm not gonna back it due to the Shipping costs but that FOMO hits so Hard with CMON games!!!
@@marcojacinto8716I feel that...and it is worth mentioning that compared to most of CMON's other big campaigns I find that games of United set up and play fast enough that I actually end up playing through most of the content so it's genuinely worth it to me in the long run.
Yeah, those Promo Boxes are going to be way more money at retail than you would've ended up spending on the base pledge + shipping, unless you're in a country where they charge you ridiculous VAT (in which case, you should be overthrowing your government instead of blaming CMON for something out of their control).

Yes, all is compatible!
Like many game systems, it's sounding from what others are saying that they might be mixable. I don't think game publishers can typically suggest that though, due to licensing.
I love comic books and I am 100% more into DC than Marvel but I do really like Marvel (I just love DC)

I wish they re-made all of the Marvel stuff (or did Marvel second). I don’t need more United, and I like the X-men stuff more thematically, but this has the most advanced mechanics. 😢

We don't have the answer to that, but I think I saw a post recently with a photograph of the all-in in the wild. I could be mistaken though.

I love it when I think I'm a fan of DC via my love of the animation (not comics person), and they I'm schooled on characters and creators that I've never heard of (as I google search Vril Dox). 😄

This seems to be a high priority question. Many are saying yes, but I don't think CMON has officially said so. Although that's probably because they can't say that due to licensing.
Do you think it is better than Marvel United X-men?
I haven’t played much of that personally, but Ryan has. Based on everything I know, I would estimate that this will have content on par with past United campaigns, and this should have at least what past iterations have mechanically speaking.
One thing about the United games is that the heroes can feel samey. This expansion really looks to do an awesome job to differentiate them more and that's exciting.
Love superhero comics, with DC Universe holding my heart overall. Love that they're coming to this format and excited that there's some real differences here from Marvel United, where I have just played the core game. This looks like it's a great fit for me, but the question then becomes "how much" do I need. 😅

Did you see how the Superman mini is done so it looks like he's floating? So cool.
The Charge Effects seem to be in line with Marvel's "As long as this card is faceup in the Storyline" Special Effects; however, while Marvel utilized these more on healing and damage prevention, DC Heroes United seems to be using it for some very different effects, especially with Superman and Flash as the examples.
I wasn't aware of those in Marvel United. Are those cards ongoing, or do you flip them once used?
@@meeple The Healing Factor cards (Wolverine, Deadpool) or damage prevention (Colossus) are all "As long as this card is faceup in the Storyline" effects. With some of this new design ideas, they would be green.
For the flip (yellow) cards, like Batman's preparation effects, the only Hero I know who can voluntarily flip a card on a later turn is Feral, a X-Men Stretch Goal Hero. Overall, it's an ability that hasn't been seen much, though I'm not sure if we will see any show up in Multiverse.
@@meepleDoop has one also. If it is face up when you are K/O you get a token.
She-Hulk also had a special ability kinda reminiscent of that Flash ability where for each of that card in the storyline she had she added an extra attack to the ability.
Very cool! I wonder if the box will come with extras of that little Joker token, just in case one gets damaged or lost. I can see that happening easily, especially if kids are playing.

I feel like we will get a lot of the fan favorites in this release. But the true question is once they have their 2nd or 3rd release kickstarter in 3 years, will we get Watchmen and the Sandman Universe?

Okay, CMON...you have my attention
Seeing more differentiated and complex heroes is definitely going to push me towards getting this. With the push on flip cards and equipment, the heroes are really starting to look very unique and that's really going to spice up the game a lot.
On the other hand, it feels like the first kickstarter stuff feels almost boring and obsolete.
It looks incredible. I was waiting for either a DC or a D&D set of United.
Personally I would like to see Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern and Hawk Mand & Girl (together), but I am also hoping for sets of Justice Society, Justice League Dark and last but definitly NOT least Future Justice League with Batman Beyond
D&D would be a really interesting property to take on! I hadn't really thought of all the possibilities, but now that you mention some, my excitement is rising.

What is this mighty life of Superman show? I can’t find it anywhere?
First things first, we probably didn't annunciate well (or get the title right). The show is called My Adventures with Superman. I watch it on max (formerly HBO), but I'm not sure if it's also on Cartoon Network or not.
I'll warn you up front - it's not for everyone. It has a bit of an anime look and feel to it, the characters are a bit younger, and it has a little more of a focus on the relationships (like Lois and Clark did). With that said, I REALLY enjoy it. I just love superhero cartoons in general.
It's kind of a reinvention of the property in some respects, but I dig it. So check it out, and come back to let us know what you think.
The best part is we will be able to combine this with the marvel
sets. That is going to be so much fun!
I all in backed everything in the last 3 kickstarters. But I still don’t have my marvel United 3. I don’t know if I want to pledge until I get my season 3 pledge. Maybe there will be a late pledge.
I'm sure there will be a late pledge opportunity -- at least I can't imagine there not being one. I also recently saw the Marvel United Multiverse photographed online somewhere. Hopefully it's delivery is soon happening.
For their last several crowdfunding campaigns CMON has been offering late pledges consistently and especially since they've partnered with Gamefound which seems to just about always offer late pledges for campaigns I'd say it's all but guaranteed that you should have that option.
@@meeple it’s looking like early fall at best for United season 3. But with how long the deceased late pledge was out for, it might be close enough where I can see if I still have love for the game after season 3. Personally, I’m an X-men guy, so maybe if season 3 falls flat I will just stay with my X-men stuff and not get the crazy amount of minis.

Their latest update makes it sound like people will start seeing things end of June and through July, unless I misunderstood some of the shipping terms they were using.

I hoping for a Teen Titans expansion & I assume a green lantern Corp expansion is coming to. It would be interesting to see a new God's expansion but IDK for that one because Darkseid is on base.
I know that I'm in the vast minority of enjoying Teen Titans Go! (and I'll die on that hill), but it would be hilarious if they offered a box of that, or maybe a box of Teen Titans vs Teen Titans Go!

I'd like to know more about the Equipment mechanic. Based on the game's Gamefound page, characters that have equipment cards also have 12 hero cards in their deck. As someone who hasn't played a Unite game before, it seems like characters that have more cards would be more powerful. What does this game do for characters like (I assume) Superman who don't have any equipment cards to make sure they aren't outclassed by character that DO have equipment cards?
I like United but I won't be backing this. $$$😪, maybe just the base box.

While those WERE the versions of these characters of my childhood (and would be awesome to see), there's so many more recent animated DC characters that are so awesome.

I don’t dislike Marvel, it’s just such a leap to buy a game before it’s out and reviewed. And now even more refined.

I don't know the answer to that, but I would imagine that it would follow the same pattern that other CMON products have in the past, particularly the United products.
I have the marvel, X-Men United base game and absolutely love it and so do my friends who have played it. I’ve got several of the other ones on my wish list and now I’m excited to know they’re going to do DC. This looks really cool..
As a kid, I grew up reading Superman and Batman and watching the super friends cartoon, but as soon as the X-Men comic came out, I was all in on X-Men. So I’d have to go with Marvel over DC if I had a choice.
You think we would be able to Mix DC with the Marvel content?
Absolutely, it's all the same system. You just won't see CMON say aloud you can mix your Marvel and DC together, just "United content can be played with other United content"

It's a tricky thing to manage (I would think) with a game system with ongoing releases. With that said, it would be awesome if there were a way to add in newer mechanisms in future releases for the other United lines.

Marvel United was my only and last CMON game. I hate what CMON does to the gaming hobby. I am a bigger DC fan than Marvel. This feels like a reskin with DC, not bad because the game play is good, the issue is that in less than 6 months of delivery, there will be another Kickstarter and then have over $500 of new content and mini’s and then it becomes more about exclusivity. I wish channels would stop covering them until they stop hurting the gaming community.
Is this really that big of an issue? Retail seems to sell well, and lots of people get into the game through the retail channel. So, yeah, the crowdfunding exclusives are... well... exclusive. Retail really can't handle the amount of content that's created for the crowdfunding, and the crowdfunding allows CMON to create stuff that wouldn't be possible if they just went retail. The widespread popular stuff (main Avengers box, Spider-geddon, X-Men Core, DCSHU Core) are all available to everyone. The stuff that's more niche and won't sell well as retail (which in that realm means large amounts of lost money) is exclusive for those who want to spend more. Sounds like a win/win for CMON and consumers to me. I mean, if you want to see a great example of a gaming company that destroys their own community, go look at the business practices of Games Workshop. That is a company that excels at bleeding the community dry of money and good will.
I think this says more about You and your need to have everything, than it says something about what CMON is ‘doing to the gaming hobby’?
I’m not sure I feel it “hurts” gaming or the community but I do feel it’s anti-consumer to make things this limited when they don’t have to be. In this instance I still buy because I think it’s worth it, but I’d love if games KS a lot less in general. But sometimes things are just inherently limited. Not sure we ever would have gotten some of the characters we got on KS via retail.
I guess because they do not lower prices, they need to have Kickstarter exclusive, otherwise it makes no sense over retail for these established companies
They aren't hurting the gaming industry, just your wallet.
