    I recently got back into building pedals and fixing up my friends' non-working ones. I appreciate Jason's methodology and explanations, thanks for sharing this.

    You and Jason should start a new channel where you find and repair vintage gear, like American pickers but just for music gear.

      I bought a used bbe soul vibe leslie simulator and it was supposed to be a working petal well it's not i was looking for schematics for it I cant find any online help!!! Lol

      🕸JACK from PHILLY 🕸 cool pedal, I’d open it up and see if there are any loose connections. Could just be an easy fix.

      I did open her up and someone was definitely in there messing around the battery became super hot so my friend tried to fix it but cant find any schematics on the pedal so I'm researching on here just going to try and fix it myself in bought a multimeter and got my soldering iron. I'm ready lol

      🕸JACK from PHILLY 🕸 do a search for bbe soul vibe internal, then select photos. I just found some good gut shots so you can compare. 😉

    That's awesome! It's always cool to see how simple some of these effects circuits are. Thanks!

      Brandon Blasiola I was surprised at how simple it was too! Glad you liked the video!

    This was a really rad video! Pretty interesting to hear a classic pedal from a previous era! Really cool to see it fixed!

    Super fun find, and a great souvenir! I think modern fuzzes (e.g. Fuzzlord effects) sound way better, but that is a really cool piece of vintage gear. I would've bought it, too.

    • @EricMerrow
      @EricMerrow  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tend to agree with you! To me, the majority of the hype and lust for vintage gear out there (pedals, guitars and everything else) stems mostly from 'vibe' and 'mojo.' Not saying all that gear doesn't sound good to me, but I gravitate to more modern and reliable equipment.

    I have a Dallas arbiter fuzz face that when it’s disengaged it shuts off the volume of the amp. Any thoughts? It works fine when engaged? Is it the footswitch?

    • @EricMerrow
      @EricMerrow  ปีที่แล้ว

      Could definitely be the footswitch or a cold solder joint on the footswitch maybe

  • @narrvick
    @narrvick 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Was very cool to see the thought process even though it was an easy fix. Would love to see one where there is more involved tinkering - so go hit up some yard/ estate sales for old gear! :)

    I am struggling to find a way to repair a broken Lekato Loop station but cannot find any feasible was to open the body, it seems a lot of pedals are like this, all I need to do is resolder the input, please help!

    • @EricMerrow
      @EricMerrow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend trying to get ahold of the Lekato support.

    WATCH THAT COFFEE!! (Around electronics, that is. I've sabotaged many a DIY project by suddenly developing Parkinson's and dousing a board with cappuccino. I'm all better now, thanks for asking.)

    I have a question. So, more than a year ago, I used a wrong adaptor on
    my BOSS Blues Driver BD-2 by accident and I heard a loud pop right after
    I turned on my pedal before it stopped working. How do I figure out
    which capacitor blew up? I don't know anything about guitar pedal
    components at all, but I'm trying to learn in order to fix my pedal.
    Thanks!

    • @phililpb

      does it have compresion

    • @FACTBOT_5000
      @FACTBOT_5000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's probably either the diode labeled D2, or the Q2 transistor. If it's a capacitor, it would be the one labeled C3. 100 uF

    @cesarmarquez3692 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I burned my Ibanez Super metal Mini, the diode is in surface soldered burned, the one it's in first of the DC input, and I don´t know how to replace it, what kinda or type of diode it is? There´s no service manual on the web.

      I'm sorry, I have no idea. My suggestion would be to google the schematic to see if you can find out. Sorry I can't help more.

    Hi fellas. I am a vocalist. I use TC-Helicon pedals. I purchased a talk box and was wondering if y'all might be able to "trick" the box into thinking that a guitar is constantly being strummed? A dumb vocalist likes me...just want's to access the tone/sound of the talk box and have the pedal daisy chained. Thanks for your help. Peace, John

    • @EricMerrow
      @EricMerrow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey John, sounds like you're looking for some kind of oscillator pedal maybe? something that provides a constant signal? I'm not exactly sure if I understand correctly.

    going back to the car analogy this pedal works nothing like a car.

    • @phililpb

      like the video. the analogies that did not quite match did make me smile. gas, spark and compression and on the pedal do we have power and I'm not sure about the other two

    • @KleyDeJong
      @KleyDeJong 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@phililpb Eh, kinda made sense to me. Gas is like voltage. So for this pedal I'd check to see that you're getting 9v in and then follow it along to the collectors of the two transistors and take dc voltage readings there.
      Spark is kind of like your offboard wiring. Is your signal bypass working? Does signal make it into and out of the circuit correctly?
      Then compression is kind of like signal passing through the circuit. I'd use a tracer to check to see that each gain stage is passing signal like it should.
