The whole Gunther/Randy finish is why i harp so much on the idea of watching wrestling as a live sports event rather than through "booking" .. Especially in this new TKO/Triple-H "era." Because whether it was part of the plan or not is irrelevant, and we will never know for sure... but the way Triple-H and the announcers handled it is exactly what would happen in a legitimate sports setting... the refs call is official, but if they fight promoter feels there is reason for a rematch they grant one. A "botch" is specifically when somebody does something that either ends up hurting somebody on accident or ends up looking so fake that it "exposes" the business... the ref not calling a shoulder being down is an oversight at best.
Not to mention when it comes to pro-wrestling prior to the last 15-20 years, regardless of what was "booked," If there as a situation where a finish was in question they would treat it as legitimate, and the bookers were left with no choice but to make what happened on screen into a workable story.... this whole concept that everything has to follow the script, and anything that isn't scripted is a "botch" is 100% a creation of internet-marks. I’m in England so I was gonna go but I’m not gonna go for £200 at the cheapest and it’s £500 for 2 night tickets and announcing this here gives them 3 weeks to sell out
Fun review. I like your perspective as a relatively new fan! I agree with you regarding the length and just positive look on the matches. I think 5, maybe 6 matches are the perfect length for a B or even C Show/PLE. As far as people complainjng beforehand goes, they just need to shut the hell up. No joke. It's the same thing every time. People calling a card mid, bad or even worse before it even happened just backfires every time because the shows are top tier quality. Predictable matches are not a bad thing as long as the match itself is good. And in the case of Cody vs Logan, it was even better. Or basically the entire Backlash PLE.
The last two matches were amazing. I'm constantly impressed by Logan Paul and how good he's become in a short period of time. He's no longer is a TH-camr and now an honest to god wrestler.
That Triple Threat match for the Intercontinental Championship was very exciting to watch. IMO, Bronson really put out a good performance. The Blue Thunder Bomb spot was beautiful.

And A LOT a business that WWE and I'm getting is from casual fans. These are fans that will pop in for PLE's and maybe they heard [big name] is gonna be on the show. I agree that they could've announced Drew versus Damien in a better and more exciting way but it is way better for business (i'm the stockholder if you remember) to make people as aware as possible. You also gotta keep in mind that a lot (not majority) ofthe people who are casual fans tend to be overseas. And it's simply because of the time difference. Especially with how we saw Cody didn’t wanna win via count out. He’s like the honorable champ lol
I think it was a good PLE. Very very predictable, but not bad at all. It was a fun show. And as far as the future 2 night PLE schedule. I can see it with a lot of them (Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and King/Queen of the Ring) and of course Wrestlemainia gets 2 nights because it is the SuperBowl of the business .. These are big shows that can be streched to 2 nights. Summerslam though .. doesn't have gimmic matches like the others, and while it is the "biggest event of the summer" I just don't know. I will hold final judgment for when it happens.
The show was exactly what I expected and Im not talking about the results. I expect a great wrestling show on a PLE. Liv vs Becky was the most interesting match for me. Liv is one of my favourites and finally she is champion again. Gunther vs. Randy Orton was amazing, especially with the ending of the match. I loved how Nia Jax destroyed Lyra, she finally looked like a beast and also won in the end. Cody vs. Logan was the real predictable match. I didnt care a lot. Of course it was a great wrestling match. It was just the wrong match for the main event. Gunther vs. Orton KOR Finals should have been the ME. The IC Title match was good as expected. Whats interesting about Beckys Rematch clause is, that she said she uses the rematch clause which is in her contract. This tells me she has a rematch clause in her contract and others not (of course in storyline)
Bronson stole the show for me. I have never been a fan. His energy, move set, and how he set up a lot of Sami and Gables spots?! Happy I got to see him
Becky Lynch vs Liv Morgan 《3/5》 Sami Zayn vs Chad Gable vs Bronson Reed 《3.5/5》 Lyra Valkyria vs Nia Jax 《3.75/5》 Gunther vs Randy Orton 《4.25/5》 Cody Rhodes vs Logan Paul 《3.75/5》 Overall: 3.5/5 Very Good show
the whole main card was full of scuffed finishes. Liv vs. Becky with interference etc. - rematch on Raw. Back in the day every champion had a rematch clause, mostly on the next tv show. they done away with it around 2015ish i think. Triple threat interference with Otis - open for rematch. Lyra vs Nia. that finish came really outta nowhere. at first i thought something went wrong, was not a bad match but i also was not excited about it. Lyra could not win because Liv just won the title and a King/Queen should build momentum and losing the first titel opportunity really derailes that momentum, so Nia it is. Gunther vs Randy - Gunther did not use a single finisher during the match. his KotR ring was build up like Brett Hart's back in the day where he finished every match differently but without his actual finisher, until the final. Gunther did the same and so i was waiting for the Powerbomb (we all know about Randys bad back) but it never came. It is not often that WWE ends matches without an actual finisher (besides the most dangerous move in all of sports entertainment - the surprise roll-up!) and i welcome the change of pace. like with the previous match it was a very sudden finish. - could be a rematch in the future and a possible Randy heel turn. not sure if it was planned or not. Cody vs Logan. when it was first said it is title vs title i knew it would end in DQ/No contest but since it was only for the WWE title it was clear Cody wins.and of course Logan would cheat somehow. - possible rematch once Logan loses the US title. so besides the tag team match on the pre-show and maybe the Lyra/Nia match (still not sure about that) all other matches had "unclear"/Dusty finishes. overall an enjoyable 3.5/5 PLE
My only con of the show is the botched Randy vs Gunther finish i hope they make it into a story and we get heel Orton back i would love 2009 type Randy where he just goes on a rampage taking out all the top stars even his bosses
Saudi show used to be ridiculous and some match even embarrassing to watch back in several year ago since they try to bring back legend to do some terrible match and grab cash, after Vince leave, the Saudi show was so much better now, even the woman division got cheered by the crowd.
@@DporticusThere’s simply no reality where Liv Morgan gets a Mania main event over CM Punk. Remember, Punk was gonna get his this year and the he got injured. @@Dporticus i like it with less matches as well, i just think that 6 hits that sweet stop, 5 is just a bit short to me. Im hoping SummerSlam starts the two night thing next year, i dont want to wait till 2026.
I hear what you’re saying about the celebrity interference but in this case I didn’t mind it cuz Logan was cheating in the match anyway so sure Cody needed help… against the guy that was trying to cheat to win his title.
Agreed. They have so many titles they can't even put them all on 1 night. A 2 night event allows to put up all the belts plus a few non title matches.
The uncle Howdy thing is being dragged out too long. I thought for sure something was going to happen on the PLE.
Sounds like we're on the same page. Just taking too long
@Dporticus The teasers started in April and it still May, so it has not been long in the slighest.
@@aksharpatel2803 sounds subjective. You say 2 months, I say 18 straight shows.
You'd think someone like roman would have that clause 😆
Bronson stole the show for me. I have never been a fan. His energy, move set, and how he set up a lot of Sami and Gables spots?! Happy I got to see him
Brinson absolutely killed it!
Why can’t you show clips?
TH-cam is pretty stingy with their copyright detection
Becky Lynch vs Liv Morgan
《3/5》
Sami Zayn vs Chad Gable vs Bronson Reed
《3.5/5》
Lyra Valkyria vs Nia Jax
《3.75/5》
Gunther vs Randy Orton
《4.25/5》
Cody Rhodes vs Logan Paul
《3.75/5》
Overall: 3.5/5
Very Good show
Match ratings are dumb.
the whole main card was full of scuffed finishes.
I would give it a 5/5.
My only con of the show is the botched Randy vs Gunther finish i hope they make it into a story and we get heel Orton back i would love 2009 type Randy where he just goes on a rampage taking out all the top stars even his bosses
I think it's really damn cool that they are making it part of the story, intentional or not.
Rhea will come back and beat Liv for the title this late summer or early fall!!! Then at next year’s wrestlemania it will be Rhea VS Jade!!
That would be 🔥
Saudi show used to be ridiculous and some match even embarrassing to watch back in several year ago since they try to bring back legend to do some terrible match and grab cash, after Vince leave, the Saudi show was so much better now, even the woman division got cheered by the crowd.
Nia jax doesn't deserve this success. Belair does!!!!!!
Logan Paul had the most exciting part of the match, controlled Cody most of the fight, and still LOST 😂
“Liv and Rhea can be the Mania night 1 main event”
Bro I like you but be serious 😂😂
Remember this moment. I'm kinda petty so I'll be replying to this in like 8 months when it happens 😆
@@DporticusThere’s simply no reality where Liv Morgan gets a Mania main event over CM Punk. Remember, Punk was gonna get his this year and the he got injured. One of the main events will involve the Rock (whether it’s with Cody or Roman) and the other will involve Punk (whether it’s with Seth or someone else)
@@YourMarvelFan until punk is hurt again... lol never know
@@DporticusExactly you never know. The Rhea and Liv feud could run out of steam by then. Either way, I highly doubt Liv Morgan main events a WrestleMania. I’d put money on it even. She’s just not that level of star 🤷♂️
To me, Randy vs Gunther was not just the worst match on the show, but a contender for the worst match of the year. It was just too slow and too long. Nothing happened the entire match and it had a shitty ending.
Lol dang. I'm glad I have my perspective then.
@@Dporticus I'm glad you have your own perspective as a newer wrestling fan. Not every match is made for me, and if matches like this help keep you interested, then I'm glad they exist. It seems my opinion is actually the uncommon one which is wild because I was sure everyone was going to be complaining about the match.
Boring show. It was a snoozefest. I can't believe you enjoyed it. You must not like real wrestling.
