Hey everyone, it's Lisa here! 🌸 I recently made a big move from California to Florida, and I wanted to share my journey with you. In this video, I'll discuss why I decided to move, the experience of driving across the country, and the good and not-so-good parts about settling into a new state.
Over the past two years, I've gone through significant changes-both personal and professional. From hitting all-time highs and lows in my business, writing a book, going through a divorce, to losing my grandma and starting a new relationship-it's been a whirlwind. This move was a way for me to shake things up and find a new path.
I'll also talk about the actual process of moving, the challenges we faced, and what I've learned from the experience. Whether you're considering a move yourself or just curious about what it's like to relocate across the country, I hope you find this video insightful and encouraging.
Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more updates on my journey and other exciting content! 🌟

Thanks for sharing your story! I'm actually planning on moving from Orlando to Sacramento. I've lived in Orlando for over 11 years, and while it is an amazing place (beyond the theme parks), I'm also in a different season of life. We are getting an H Mart (Korean supermarket on the west side of town) and lots of new restaurants and shops. It's definitely growing and I can't wait to see what it will be like in a few years. Welcome to Central Florida!

you should dispute the charges from the moving company. i got multiple estimates when i moved in December and the price i was what i paid with no surprise charges. they asked about using shuttle vs 18 wheeler in advance for both loading & unloading. they know that a big truck can't fit down every street & you should've been advised of that. i hope you used a credit card & if you did, then dispute it thru them. And if you move again, make sure you use a company that sends someone to your home in advance & go thru every room in your house to point out exactly what will be going. they can give you a quote on the spot. that is what you pay and nothing more. i hate to say this but i think you were taken advantage of. i really hope you didn't tip these people bc that sounds like an awful experience.

Moved from SD to Orlando. It is an opposite in almost every sense. Sometimes I long for the so cal inclusive feeling, the illusion of everything aligning to some contrived puzzle. There’s not as much momentum plotting a spectrum in FL, but I feel eventually that becomes a realization of the true independence & freedom FL offers. You may have to look a bit harder but there is just as much uniqueness & opportunity, sometimes even more authentic. Curious what neighborhood you guys chose. You will love mills 50, foody neighborhood w/ asian influence, artsy & tasteful.

Oh man, moving cross country is TOUGH. I kept deciding to get rid of things that I knew would cost more to move than to re-buy when we got there. Congratulations on the move!

We had a similar moving experience from NJ to FL 21 yrs ago. That was with a large national moving company so it’s disappointing to hear things in that industry haven’t changed 🤨
I’m a hobby baker who lives very close to Orlando. Welcome! Feel free to ask any questions about the area.

I’ve yet to figure out (just based on the tax structure, politics are a complete other rabbit hole that I won’t get into) why anyone would (or can!) afford to stay in California. Florida has its own shade of crazy, no doubt. I like to visit California - beautiful place, but find everything so cost prohibitive. We are in ATL metro now, but don’t intend to stay here either and hope to move to the midwest (north TX or Oklahoma) in the next two years. Moving (and especially long distance moving) is an absolute PITA, but we will definitely be hiring movers. We’ve moved ourselves cross country more than once and I swore in our last move (DC to Atlanta) that we would *never* move ourselves again. haha!!

We made a similar move to Oklahoma from SoCal 2 years ago. Thankfully, we had a great moving co. They weren't brokers, they were the movers. We had the hard working man I've ever seen as our driver and "head mover". They did subcontract young men from our area to help unpack under our driver's supervision. I'm also glad that you are seeing that most people, despite what the media wants you to believe, don't care about skin color. We judge people on their character & actions. Unfortunately, they keep pushing the narrative because they want to keep us divided. We just have to keep proving them wrong. And, believe it or not, our upper middle-class neighborhood in Tulsa/ Broken Arrow is also very diverse - Black, White, Hispanic, Russian, Ukrainian, Middle Eastern, Asian and most of the "whites" have Native American blood, as well. But, not many Italian-Americans like myself - lol, so I'm having trouble finding quality Italian ingredients 😢.

It's a red state is a GOOD thing. Blue people should stay in those bubbles, no real animus intended, I love everyone, but because they muck up the red state's GOOD qualities if they reach critical mass. They sometimes FLEE the crap the blue state has precisely BECAUSE it is blue, that's how they roll, they are their own demolition crew. Then , incredibly, they want to muck up wherever it is that they move to, then complain because the cannot connect the dots that it is precisely the BLUE mindset that is the problem, no offense, dear, you're young, chances are you'll figure this out. So many anti communist Chinese get it, what's up with YOU? . Glad you're at least open minded. Orlando is pretty blue, actually.
