Automatic monitoring of underwater welds with a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV)

- For full performance potential, offshore wind turbines must run without interruption. Researches at Fraunhofer IKTS developed a system for perma, automated condition monitoring. A sensor ring with integrated sensors detects and localizes dangerous cracks in the weld seam at the foundation under water. The readout unit can be automatically controlled by a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), that applies energy, thus starting measurements or precalculations.
