    I drive for a UPS Type company on a 300 mile route and I see so many 1 ton duallys running hotshot on the side of the freeway broken down. I dont think these trucks were built for this kind of constant hauling, I think they are designed more for the occasional horse trailer or 5th wheel. Not the day to day Double digit weight, hauling that they are being used for...I think anything smaller than an F-450 is just asking for trouble and even that might be pushing it.. Even if a 1 ton can pull 10K , doesnt mean it will hold up very long consistently pulling 10K all the time. These things arent tractor Units, they are pick-ups.

      Man I prefer to park head in. Reason 1 is because there's a lot of new drivers out here hitting trucks while trying to back in. Reason 2 is it cuts down on noise from other trucks running there ADU's and idle. But the only time I go head first is if I can back out in a straight line.

    • @vinpre

      Being leased on means you take on your vehicle expenses, and the company takes on the logistics. Like he mentioned, a portion of the load pays to the company. Keeping you from dealing with load boards, and they also help with insuring your vehicle is DOT ready. He can go into further detail

    I've watched all the videos on this channel. I appreciate the info. I had a thought about driving Hotshot. I used to drive for TMC so I know and understand the securement requirements. Breaking down the costs really gives me some insight on what to expect. Now all I would have to do is my due diligence on this having a CDL. Do you have a twic card? Is there less money in hauling cars (if they are multiple that is)? What do you have left on your truck warranty? Does Hotshot void anything on the warranty? Be careful with forklift drivers running into your trailer denting your rub rail. It can make it hard to get your straps through the rub rail.

    • @HotshotMacc
      @HotshotMacc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and I appreciate the support! I personally don't like hauling cars. But it all depends on your business model. I doubt that hotshot voids your manufactured warranty unless you do some after market stuff.

      It varies but not much past 10500. Depending on your truck, trailer, fuel and all your equipment your taking. Best way to find out is fill up all fluids, fuel and or def, hook to trailer, put everything you plan on having out on the road in the truck or on trailer and head to a truck stop and weigh the setup. Total weight minus 26000 gives you what you can have on trailer.

    • @LegaxyGaming
      @LegaxyGaming 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks everyone for the replies. I’ve been trying to understand the weights and everything of non cdl as I work for a company I could haul things without a cdl until I get mine. So you go off the GVWR of the truck and trailer + load weight and that can’t be over 26k? Or do you go off vehicle and trailer actual weights? Thanks!

    • @jammiequalls3760
      @jammiequalls3760 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LegaxyGaming You GVWR is what your equipment is rated for. What it can be put on it. You can have a trailer that is rated for 15k but with non cdl you can't put 15k on it. Total weight of fully topped off truck and loaded trailer has to be 26k or under. Say you weigh your setup bone empty and you are at 16,650. The most you can put on that trailer is 9,350 lbs. That's gonna max you out. But you also have to make sure your axle weights are good too. Have to learn how to have your load needs to sit on your trailer so as to not overload the axles. You can be on the money with total weight on trailer but still be overweight on your axles.
