adapters for PETRI breech lock mount are now available on ebay for several mirrorless cameras. I got one for my Nikon Z. It works fins, but the breech lock on the adapter can be a little fiddly when you're trying to lock the lens in, but if you simply unscrew the locking ring a few turns, the lens should mount in place correctly.
Very nice video, Marco! I think it looks quite good! I actually have this lens, and a camera, I bought like ten cameras in a market a couple of years ago, I intended to use it, but at closer look, it didn't have any signs of wear at all, and went into the cabinet again. Petri also made some pretty interesting rangefinders.
I was positively impressed by it and I was thinking of trying out some more Petri stuff, but I've never found any more. It was some sort of a one-off coincidence that only that one specific year, at one specific event there were many Petri cameras and lenses...
I've tried a lot of vintage lenses from the 1940s through to the 1990s. I can't think of any that offer better IQ for the cost than this humble Petri 55/1.8.
Your sample pictures are beautiful and demonstrate that you can produce great photos with a $40 lens. I own 4 Petri lenses which are all fine and worth the still low prices. I like especially the 50mm f1.7 which produces an interesting bokeh. Unfortunately I do not own the Kuribayashi Petri Orikkor C.C. 50 mm f2 which became already famous and very expensive.
There exists an E-mount adapter for Petri lenses. I own one for the 50mm f1.7 lens which I like a lot. I purchased the adapter in the USA. Btw. nice photos in the video.
@@vernondekoker8797 someone should blueprint a 3D print adapter FT to M42 similar to a PK to Whatever style mount.. I have a 50 1.8 as well.. looking for an FT to Sony adapter used ...$60 for the adapter for a $15 lens..ouch.
@@Gearjunkie35JasonBallou thanks for the info, this lens renders so beautiful it's a rare gem hence I'm not giving up on it. Even if I must modify an adapter I will.
Hi, a few days ago I bought a Peru 135 mm f 2.8 lens . I recently bought the famous Jupiter 135 mm f 3.5 and was disappointed because it turned out of focus. I didn't know anything about Petri brand either and I bought it blind because it was cheap and I needed something urgently. And whet ? Petri turns out to be sharp from f 2.8 and has a reali nice bokeh . Of course its not a spectacular lens but its very correct . Thanks for the video!
Not that I know of. Only those who have thorium in the coatings have radioactive traces, and if I remember correctly usually the front element has some yellowish reflections. ...bananas are more radioactive than old lenses, so I don't bother with that ;)
The only way to know for sure is a Giger counter, but there are plenty of lenses with yellowish front elements that are not radioactive. And again, even if they are, they're not harmful 😉

Gorgeous photography and cinematography. Beautiful lens and great review!
Thank you!
I have a couple of Petri lenses I'd never heard of them but they are cheap and I've actually been pretty happy!!!
They do indeed exceed expectations!

It is an underrated brand!
What is the difference in Image quality compared to Supertakumar 55 mm f1.8 lens?
The rendering of Bokeh and Color is Similar to Moment lens 56mm.
I haven't tried that Takumar, only the 50 1.4, so I can't say.

Thank you! I am a great supporter of cheap lenses, in fact I haven't paid more than 50€ so far 😉 Petri was a pleasant surprise, I'm glad I tried it!

Is the a X Mount Adapter for Fujifilm, I bought a 55mm 1.4 for cheap but it's the Petri Ft Boyanet Mount. I would like to adapt my Fujifilm Camera.
I don't see any neither of Fotodiox nor on K&F.

Most of the 50 to 55 mm F/2 or F/1.8 lenses of that era were actually very good, almost regardless of the brand.
True!

I just found another Petri 55mm 1.8 CC Auto version...looks older than your copy...don't know the diffrences
Probably just aesthetic differences, I don't think thay had different series or optical designs...
