I like how you give this teaching - abt " increasing our portion"- without it being in the manner of the " prosperity preachers". All abt " sending me a seed/ then you wll be blessed...get an increase". God does encourage the " increase of our portion", but not in the way it is abused by the prosperity preachers. We see Jesus giving the teaching of the talents, and how He commends the ones who increased theirs. So I reckon "increasing our portion" should have more spiritual value for the Kingdom of God than for self? Jesus says to the ones who were profitable " enter into the joy of your lord". It is abt bringing HIM "joy"? [and that is in bringing/ encouraging souls into the Kingdom? Looking up to Jesus? (Not admiring man and his possessions). For that is the great joy of heaven- when " angels rejoice"?] Not simply to " make our barns bigger" and say to our souls " souls you have much..."?
