Awesome studio! Very well built. I'm knee deep in research to build my own space right now and I think you have an opportunity to easily improve the transmission loss between your live floor and control room. You've created an Mass Air/Spring Mass system between the 2 rooms but, in drywalling the interior of your 16" cavity (the most I've ever seen a DIYer use. You would make any pro studio builder very proud!), you've actually reduced the effectiveness of it. The key with that system is to have an uninterrupted air-space inside of your outside drywall layers. Any insulation you put in there is really to dampen the resonance of the exterior drywall leafs. A quick Google images search for "STC wall leafs" will show you just how much better it is to NOT have the interior drywall. Because you left yourself so much space, you could easily remove the interior leafs - cover the exposed framing in fabric or something.

you might consider, for your safety and guests, having at least a couple of cameras outside to secure those leaving and to monitor weather conditions. A wireless temp/hum/wind/precip sensor, outside, gives you the aforementioned stats on a display inside. I would further suggest that the cameras have built in microphones and the receiver should have the 2-way talk back function so you can hear what the cams see and also, to speak with anyone near to the cams.

wish you would have tested with the drum kit so we could see the difference in bass frequencies and wuth a more dynamic sound than the shop vac. Also im sure you already know but you would get way better noise reduction with a solid wood or sand filled door and also seals that shut against a solid piece of wood with neoprene or expanding foam material. if you have to have window you could build a double glass window in the glass with a nice size air gap between them

I am hearing you buddy. I am in the same situation as you were whereby my control room is in the same space as the live room and it really makes things difficult.
Any chance you could upload an example with a drummer playing in your live room and what that sounds like in your control room with the doors closed?

I went through the crawl space on the outside wall, connected cables that way. Covered hole back up as best I could. Thanks for the question!
