      content seems to be recorded in Spain looking at the brands used of certain stuff and the vegetation/ landscape. Don't be fooled this is not an American channel. I mention this because you list some local part of the USA hoping that this person recognizes it. No no, they aren't from the USA....

    My only problem that personally admittedly pisses me off and because of the one that I could benefit from the most, so far, is the 9V battery with lighter spring firestarter.
    Now don't get me wrong: IF by chance I did something wrong or made a mistake I'll own up to it and am not trying to be that guy, however, I had a FRESH pack of 9V batteries and the SAME EXACT kind of lighter shown in the video that was also dead. I carefully took the lighter apart, stretched the coils out to where I still had 3-5 neatly wrapped up in the center, and wrapped the ends around FOUR different batteries.
    The batteries themselves did get warm and parts of the stretched out wire at THE VERY TIP of the positive and negative ends where they were touching/connected to the battery did as well but the coils that weren't stretched out centered in the middle to actually absorb the heat for burning/lighting anything remained completely cool. Again the battery was warm, the lower portions of the wire wrapped around the base of the battery connected onto P/N got warm and I did have to take my thumb off for a minute (not like in the video where he was able to keep all fingers on the battery), and even had a piece of tissue wrapped around the central coiled area to wait for a ignition but got nothing.
    Am I doing something wrong (genuinely/sincerely asking because I don't want to come off as a jerk) or is this just a magic trick thanks to editing because I really do want to make this work for when my lighters die.
    I haven't had the chance to test the copper wired connection wrapped with a piece of charcoal to a AA battery yet (hopefully that one works better) but for this particular one I literally had THE EXACT same objects in my room to do this experiment and it DID NOT work as shown in the video (and again NOT trying to be that guy, just explaining my personal experience). Help/thoughts anyone???

      That's frustrating! It can be really disheartening when gear fails, especially in a survival situation

    • @urbanoutdoorsman
      @urbanoutdoorsman 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was initially impressed, but became skeptical, by the lack of logic in some of these ideas. Yes there were some good ones, but this battery hack and the cooking oil lamp is simply bogus. It's quite impossible to amass sufficient thermal mass from a tiny wick to heat up a wide saucepan. Anyone who's done a little camp cooking even with a tiny gas stove can tell you that! Pretty disappointed by the lack of honesty by the content creator. For that, not going to subs.

    The shirt mop for drinking water is something Ive never seen before. Cool idea, however I wash my clothes so in my case I would not want to ring that shirt out and have a body odor, sweat and detergent flavored gulp of water. This would be great if you didn't wash the shirt you are wearing, and you hadn't been sweating in it. Not to mention your shirt would then be soaked and would need to dry out before wearing again. That wouldn't be ideal in cold environments, only warm or hot ones. Not trying to knock the idea, it is very clever and I would use this if needed if I had to have water and there was an area of tall grass with dew on it.

      You’re right, this omission only for real emergencies and when there is not anything else available

    • @TheMangoMussolini
      @TheMangoMussolini 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      OK, other than your almost unintelligible recitation, it's obvious that you've never been in a survival situation. If you're dying of thirst, it's not going to matter much what the water tastes like, as long as it's relatively clean and potable. But perhaps you wouldn't run into that situation, you'd be on the look out for the nearest bottled water tree.

    If you want to carry around a pack full of parts and otherwise useless materials, this is a great video. I'm sure we all carry around 9-volt batteries, butane torches, spare battery cases and electrical wire (just in case we need to make a silent perimeter alarm)

      There is a survivorman episode where he addresses that: there's nothing there that you can't find in a crashed car or plane if you don't already have it one you (a lighter).

    why is this youtube channel listed in "United States" , this is very transparently recorded in Spain maybe southern france, but considering the brands of the matches in other videos etc I think this is most likely Catalunya. Why not say Spain and make up some BS as this being an american channel? Tax evasion?

    I really like how these bushcrafters go into the woods and spend long hours making objects to solve a problem that doesn't exist. Mostly using things that every bushcrafter carries into the woods on a regular basis. I'd just like to know why they don't take the stuff out of their house right away.

      @@dazdeluxe6672 Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm an enthusiastic and long-time prepper myself, and I know from experience how important it is to be prepared and knowledgeable. I also know that the survival of an individual or a group is much more dependent on chance than knowledge and experience. The line between life and death is very thin, buddy.
