  • Kaidynce was born with a type II laryngeal cleft which is where the esophagus and airway do not fuse together completely. She was kept in the NICU until they found the cleft at 3 weeks old at which point she was deemed unsafe to eat orally and a gtube was placed. We had her LC repaired at 4 months old followed by 2 revisions that same month. She is now 1 and has been cleared to begin her journey to getting off the gtube. Follow along with us as we begin our transition from gtube to oral feeds!
If you want to get to know Kaidynce a little better watch Kaidynce's first year video here: • Kaidynce's 1st Year l ...
In this weeks video, I am showing you how we incorporate what we learn in occupational therapy, at home.

I love the way you're talking about this! I'm a speech therapist and you look like you're ready to become one yourself! Great explanations of what you've learned!

Thank you! I've tried to soak in as much as I can to really help my daughter. We've been going through this journey for almost 4 years now so I've picked up a few things along the way and hope to help other families in the same situation 🙏

My daughter is 19 months and has early intervention feeding therapy since she was about 7 months old. She is still on puréed babyfood and will only eat fruits or foods sweetened with fruit. She doesn’t have a feeding tube as she is ok on her growth and has always drank well from a bottle. If you don’t mind my asking, when and why did your little one get the feeding tube? I’m just trying to learn more about this because I worry that my daughter will need a feeding tube if she doesn’t begin eating regular foods soon. She really has an aversion to textures and refuses to chew or eat chunky foods. I’m going to subscribe to your videos :)
    Thank you!

Thank you so much for subscribing. I'm currently pregnant so my videos have been more about pregnancy lately but I definitely have more in store about my 1st daughters journey, feeding tube, sensory issues and feeding therapy. She had to get a gtube placed at 3 weeks old because she was born with a laryngeal cleft which is a hole between her esophagus and windpipe. This caused aspiration which leads to constant bouts of pneumonia. It was safer for her to get a gtube until the LC was repaired. She went from the 3% growth range to 87% and is thriving! Now that she can safety eat we are focusing on getting her to transition to oral foods but this can be a long process.

I’m curious, did your little one make any progress? I have a 3year old who still refuses to chew or eat chunky food.
