Writers and directors seem to have cooompletly forgotten that hero-stories are a psykological expression of overcoming struggles. much like a great horror film or show is a good psykological expression of our fears and inner darkness. Some one stated that Oz is not a anti-hero, and you're not suppose to like him. But on the other hand, Sofia is scaaaaary, as she is unpredictable in another way to penguin. The show is in that way, very unpredictable and makes you think "what the f is gonna happen next?" my 5 to 10 cents! Great video!
Also Sofia is made to be completely innocent, she was going to be head of the family until she spoke to the reporter. She was still bad, but at the same time she was completely innocent of those crimes and didn’t understand why the family would rat her out like that.
I’ve never really been a huge DC or Batman fan but man this Penguin series is solid. I’m really enjoying watching weekly episodes too, not done that in a few years, it helps each episode sink in more, allowing time for discussions and theories. After Ep 4 I’m now having to watch first 3 again, knowing what we know now, perceptions towards Sofia are not what I had first thought.
I think Sofia dies by the end of the miniseries but not before giving Oz the biggest fight of his entire life and to the Penguin she will always be remembered as the only worthy adversary he ever had.
I like what they're doing wth Sal Maroni. Him being more of a father figure to Sophia than Carmine is not something I expected they're so endearing. Also, I don't think them not making Sphia the Hangman in the show was about her being a woman. If you remember back in the Batman, Falcone was shown to strangle women. He strangled that one prositiute, and he also tried to strangle Catwoman, his daughter. I don't think that decision came outta nowhere lol.

The show *Gotham* had already paid hommage to that situation in season 4, in which Sofia Falcone was played by Crystal Reed, ended up in a wheelchair with a metallic neck-supporter-thingy that looks like a medieval torture device.

This is where Huntress, Deathstroke, Joker etc comes in? What story line am I thinking of, if I'm wrong?

I wish I were as hopeful about where they're taking the story. All signs are pointing to a replacement job, almost too overtly, with Sophia as Gotham's top villain and Penguin either dead or groveling at her feet, which would be TRAGIC.

I was just saying this yesterday how movies and series today have no character development, it’s all situational plot points, where the characters are rough outlines at best, some delve a little bit deeper but nothing like how it once was however with The Penguin they’ve done a phenomenal job at character development. You understand where each character is coming from, you have an idea of what they’re going to do which makes the twists and turns all the more intense. It is the best series by far in the past year, at least the best series in recent memory. There’s a few others that were really good but did not have the depth of character builds like The Penguin. So far I’d give The Penguin a 9/10 to 9.5/10 which for me is insane. A great series for me gets a peak of 8.5-9. So anything that gets me this excited is a rarity. The only series I can think of that had as good as characters in recent memory would maybe be Devs. I’m sure there’s others but still not with that type of character development.
this show is so fucking good and the world building is just setting up so well for the Batman 2...Matt Reeves is a genius. I think Black Mask and the GOATED Red Hood would fit in really well in this universe.
If you condensed this story, put another well established gangster leaning Batman villain in it and put Batman himself in it, youd have had the perfect The Batman 2. This is ok, an entertaining mob story. But not truly great. Its also jarring to have no Batman while there's a major mob war going on

Her having ties to a witch was....odd but Lana ended up getting powers in the comics so my guess is the writers were trying their best to incorporate as many elements from other versions as possible. After Season 3 the whole show tanked imo and is when Lana fell off as a character.

I listened to the podcast for Penguin episode 4 and it seems like the writers of this episode come from a feminist background and wrote it from that point of view; But thankfully they didn't forget the storytelling basics, and the character has flaws; not to mention the actress elevates the character A LOT. I always wonder why people dont know that The Boys used to be a DC property but they ended with Ennis going to Dynamite. Preacher is a very solid DC show on AMC. Y: The Last Man was terrible even tho it is a FX show. Swamp Thing is underrated asf. Watchmen is good aswell and Pennyworth and Doom Patrol lost its vision. The Penguin is a limited series and theres no continuation planned.

S4 was the worst season of the boys. It was personally 6.5/7 out of 10. S1 was 8.5/10, S2 was 8/10 and S3 was 9/10.

You missed one dc show which is just one of the best ones if not the best.. the penguin aint done to confirm but i enjoyed so much more - Doom Patrol. The season 1 is some of the greatest television i have seen. I cant comment on 2 & 3 cause i never finished them.

I like how we're getting to see the rise of Oswald 'Oz' Cobb as the legend of Gotham City Villainy in one hell of a TV series. Colin Farrell should be a shoe in for an Emmy in 2025 and I betting that he WILL be receiving an Emmy for the role.

-season 1's Big Bads were The Dark Archer in the present & Edward Fyers in the flashback (pure, dyed in the whool Green Arrow villains)
-season 2's big bads were Deathstroke, Brother Blood, Ravager in the present (all 3 of them Titans villains) and in the flashback, Professor Ivo (JLA rogue, last seen on TV in the great *My Adventures with Superman* )
-season 3's Big Bads, alright, when it comes to the present, I have no choice but to give you that one, Ra's Al Ghul is indeed a Batrogue. 😩 Buuut when it comes to the flashback, the main villain is Matthew Shrieve from the *Creature Commandos*
-season 4's Big Bads, imma feel mighty cocky 'ere since in the present, HIVE is not an organisation known for taking on Batman, and in the past, Baron Reiter aka Baron Blitzkrieg started of mainly as a Wonder Woman rogue and later became a All-Star Squadron staple.
-season 5's big bads, Prometheus is a Justice League villain, though if we want to pinpoint which heroes he tends to target the most, then Midnighter and Green Arrow would probably be it. And in the past, the main baddie is Konstantin Kover, aka Red Star, a Teen Titans dude. When it comes to live action, we last saw him in the show *Titans*
- season 6: the main Big Bad is notorious Green Arrow nemesis, Ricardo "Dragon" Diaz.
- season 7: ach, this one serves my purpose well! The Big Bads are, at the beginning, the Longbow Hunters (a group of villains who specifically target Oliver Queen) and later *The Ninth Circle* led by GA villain Dante & Emiko.
-season 8 is a bit of a special case innit? One thing is for sure, the Anti-Monitor ain't exactly a "Bat-rogue"

I listened to the podcast for Penguin episode 4 and it seems like the writers of this episode come from a feminist background and wrote it from that point of view; But thankfully they didn't forget the storytelling basics, and the character has flaws; not to mention the actress elevates the character A LOT. She's perfect for the role

Preacher is a very solid DC show on AMC. Y: The Last Man was terrible even tho it is a FX show. Swamp Thing is underrated asf. Watchmen is good aswell and Pennyworth and Doom Patrol lost its vision. The Penguin is a limited series and theres no continuation planned.
How can you watch the boys and not care about kimiko and frenchie the show is THE BOYS not the homelander and butcher show if your not watching for The Boys don’t watch at all same thing with moon knight it didn’t have one bad episode but people only tune in for the transformation and fights but not the fleshed out story we need absorb shows as a whole rather than take bits and pieces and throw the rest out
The scary thing is that some people literally only want to watch Homelander and Butcher. Maybe Soldier Boy, too. But that’s it.

All the comics are cornball stuff and eventually made for kids. I dont know what fans expect. Your not getting consistency with inconsistent source material. DC and Marvel have always been up and down with stories art and direction. People are way too critical of these comic shows. When shows get goofy I stop watching. Sofia is a great character and I definitely think it would be best that she ended up beating Oz in the end. Oz almost seems like he’s the real antagonist of the show. He does terrible things. Also, sofia could end up working with the court of owls in the end.
