    When I was investigating this Church I wanted to read something from the Church leaders that proved that God still speaks to man today.
    The family who was friendshipping me recommended that I read their Doctrine and Covenants. I went to a special bookstore they knew of and purchased my own copy of all the scriptures of their Church, which included the Doctrine and Covenants.
    I was now able to read the Doctrine and Covenants first. THEN I read the Book of Mormon.
    I was baptized in June of 1984. I've been a member of this church ever since.

    A very nice presentation. I think its interesting to note that at the time of the First Vision the grove was likely not green and leafy as the song implies. It was early Spring and the grove was probably still in its wintertime form with bare trees. Thanks from your efforts to make Church History come alive.

    I just love listening to you, I really appreciate your animation and the stories, another man came up on utube he talked a lot about how he was an institute teacher and how he has all these followers and it was a lot of Me me, I , I . I am so great.. etc
    I decided to not subscribe to him because it wasn’t as interesting as the way you portray it. so I thank you for your efforts your animation and your stories , truly you are a gift and a blessing from God ! there are those of us who cannot stay focused long enough to hear a Mundane prideful speaker ramble on. you have made the presentation of this material absolutely phenomenal and wonderful !!

    @31:31 Starting a journal today!
    @35:25- This pairs so nicely with the Come Follow Me Section, in "The Saints"; that he had learned he was a sinner but didn't know the way to access the atonement. I think it is an interesting insight into Joseph's intents and motivations.

It's in several books ,one being Journal of Discourse, I would need to look which number ,Journal number,these are the original Journals of Discourse, I don't know if they ar3 even in print anymore,I'm sure you can find rhem,both Brigham Young and President Woodruff are in the J of D .

    There's a really good book, "Heaven's Ditch" that helps explain the building of the Erie Canal along with the origins of the Charismatic Movement. If you ignore the slurs and Bushman quotes; anti crap altogether, it does have some interesting insights. Many of our early church leaders were named after some of the original preachers.
    What's interesting is the birth of the church was in the heart of religious fervor where they could fly under the radar while the Lord builds his restored Church.

    In your description of Joseph Smith as a young boy you mentioned he was in charge of the "beer and cake" cart and then say they sold Root beer. My question is what is your source that says they sold "root beer"?
    After doing some research it seems that "beer & cake" carts were common and what was sold was actual beer not "root beer" in that Root beer was more commonly sold as syrup and did not commonly appear as a carbonated drinks until decades later.
    It appears you or your source is trying to sanitize the Smith's history to fit modern LDS norms.
    There would have been nothing wrong with the Smith's selling beer as there was no word of wisdom and beer of the time was a common food source. In fact until the early 20th century the church manufactured sacramental wine.
    This need by some members to sanitize LDS history only reduces credibility.

    • @storiesoftherestoration2080
      @storiesoftherestoration2080  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had heard the story as it being root beer. Perhaps that wasn't correct.

    • @Apbt-rv7zw
      @Apbt-rv7zw 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anthony do you have any source confirming it was alcoholic beer?
      I do agree that we shouldn't sanitize our past and that we presenting our past we should be accurate in our reporting events from history. Sometimes close enough isn't good enough.
