    Oh and don't take any food, gifts, coffee, from customers. sometimes it is genuine. A lot of times it is too substitute for proper payment between the lines.

    They don't understand nit picking costs you money on the estimate/job. Asking for "small" things to do while you're there assuming it will be no big deal but as a business owner it costs us. When you say you'll add it to the bill, their entire demeanor changes like, "What, I can't get free work outta ya?" Um, hell to the nizzaw son. Time is $$$$....nobody got time fo dat so drop em like a deuce!

      Agreed! I have a customer who will open her garage and yell "HELLO" at the top of her lungs until one of us turns our equipment off. Why do we put up with the bullshit?

    Very helpful, I was just thinking about a annoying client that never scheduled for things on time and always tries getting discounts or paying me less then even the parts assuming I wouldn’t say anything. I never understand why people ask for services if they don’t have enough especially considering it’s not a fixed rate buisness where the more you ask for the more it’ll cost.

    My wife runs a residential and commercial cleaning company. We find that bad customers refer other bad customers. Cut the bad ones and you cut the bad referrals... I run a concrete polishing company (usually a one time job) so if I even get a whiff that they’re difficult I jack the price up to price them out or make it worth my time.

    That lawn where u had to turn the tiny rocks over one at a time, every week, to get a straight edge right up to the mulch, that was a very painfully detailed yard.

      @starshine6472 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Professor Psych I agree! I guess the point is if they're willing to pay for it, you don't mind doing it, and the client isn't a jerk at least when you put forth your best effort, then it's fine.

    Plus I had a potential today find me on FB marketplace. Messaged me saying she was interested then I refered her to my website. She claims she doesnt like to order online. Im thinking the hell you're doing on FB then..ugh..so then she asks me am in bham? I said yes but I dont have a storefront nor do I allow customers to come to my home. I only biz face 2 face at events I worked. Asked her what is it that she wants me to do? She says I'll just go on your site. Goes on site I guess then about a hour later sends me a pic of a shirt she got off of IG asking could i do i said yes but it will be a custom order of 10 or more 5 with my design. I told her the item you chose is a stock transfer meaning it has already been designed by someone else and cannot be altered and yes those are individually sold. I shouldve known when she initially said she doesnt feel comfy shopping online that was a problem potential customer..when I told her my policy all I got was a thumbs up...i didnt waste my time responding

    If I have a job which I dread going too because of the customers attitude and/or the garden. Get rid of it. Best thing to do

    I'm firing clients left, right and center. Nowadays it is mainly for late payments. If they haggle on the price they are done. Or if they constantly ask for work then make a small smart comment insinuating the cost is too much. Done. Your $1000,$2000 contract isn't worth your stupid comment. bye. I just fired one who is now onto their 5th company in 6 years and they were one of my larger contracts. Sorry you aren't worth it if you think you are for your $2000.

    Well said! I'm about to drop 10 customers in a different area than what I mainly service. Two of those customers fit the description you just gave and make my blood boil. Only problem I'm having is that the season already started and I feel committed. Sucks bc they are my least profitable. Pushing 100 lawns and I keep turning down referrals in my area.

    Oh my gosh yes then they don't read or follow directions!! I own a custom t-shirt biz for almost 2 years and I keep getting all of these something for nothing customers. They dont want what you offer then when you offer it they dont want to pay extra for it. Finally got a healthy clients with a big bulk order.

    Hm. Think I heard that story before. Did it involve mowing just past the property line then the neighbor did a face-to-face and put up a fence? Geek-to-Freak can help you with that one.

    I let go of a customer two days ago because she was too "sexually defensive " to simply be a customer .
    It was getting in the way of my own comfort .
