It makes me smile to see all the people here that remembered this from Turkey Television. This, Fish Heads, and I Wanna Be A Lifeguard were all staples of Turkey TV.
That's where I first saw this too! I'd love to know more about this video and this song, but info on it is pretty scarce. Where and when was this video shot? Who produced it? For being low-budget, it's very inventive and clever. Anyone know more about this? And who was the waitress with the gorgeous big teeth???
It's funny to see Bill Kirchen acting even more goofy than the Commander. :^D Rest in peace, George Frayne. Thanks for the laughs, all the great music that we now call Americana, and the wonderful art. #CancerSucks
I saw this band in an Ann Arbor coffee shop in 1969. The PA was three mikes plugged into a Fender Super Reverb amplifier. In those days Detroit seemed to have a tiny white ceramic burger joint on every block. They sold 10 cent burgers with lots of onions and microscopic meat.
I first saw this on MTV with their Guest VJ day (Fridays I think it was). And if I recall correctly, Huey Lewis was guest hosting that one, when they played this video. Thanks for putting this up.
For those here that remember Turkey TV: what about that one video taking place at a veggie stand with a band dressed up as veg and ending with the lead singer (in a tomato costume) chasing away customers with a large knife?
My co-worker at the Coliseum just told me about this video. Kwik-Ways was the the place! Triple cheese, half a bag of fries, eat fast before they cool off and harden!
The Commander, Mr. Flood's Party n Krazy Jim's triple cheese. A2 institutions. Will miss you but the music n humor lives forever. Thanks George. Chris too.
It was on both! MTV played this a lot in its early days. Then around 1985, it experienced a slight resurgence when it appeared in Nickelodeon's Turkey Television.
@@Diskoboy1974 Nice! That's why I looked it up, because I remember how much we laughed watching it when we were little kids. We never heard a song on TV that had the word "Crap" in it before. Turkey T.V. was AMAZING to us back then. Great Memories.
I lived a block from a mickey ds when I was a kid.I even had a buddy from hs that would hook me up as needed. This video cold stopped me from going there for at least a month.
I searched for this video after remembering it from watching Turkey TV on Nickelodeon when I was a kid. I never knew Stevie Wonder was in this video. lol
If you're ever in Lexington, KY you have to visit the Parkette Drive-In on New Circle Road. Get the Poor Boy burger, a side of onion rings, and a large Dr. Pepper... and tell 'em Pat sent ya'!
That place closed last year (sometime after you posted your comment). I know because I swung by there when I was there to visit my niece and nephew and I saw it and thought it looked cool, but apparently their last day of business was just a few days earlier.
@@MDK2_Radio Yes, it went down hill fast there at the end. The building is now gone, but they left the sign. Not many of the old drive-ins still around, but they ARE rebuilding an old one in Albany, KY named "Smitty's" that closed back in the year 2000. Not sure when it will be open, but looking forward to that one!
I remember this from turkey t.v. .. and today i am thinkin what the hell was that!,,,cheesy low budget video,,,and you can get a triple cheeseburger today at Wendys!! i could not eat two though :/

Yep, I remember watching Turkey TV and see this video, and also "Rolly Polly Fish Heads".
One of the lost hits from Turkey TV.
Yep, along with Fish Heads!
And a live version of Red Skies.
George B.JohnsonJr. please.
I remember it was the first bit of the first episode!
Oh, my Lord, I remember seeing this on Nickelodeon in the early 80's. I am in my 50's now and still sing that song to myself.
I saw this on MTV in the early 80s.. Back when MTV was all music videos all the time
It's funny to see Bill Kirchen acting even more goofy than the Commander. :^D Rest in peace, George Frayne. Thanks for the laughs, all the great music that we now call Americana, and the wonderful art. #CancerSucks

Eric Hepperle No possibililty it was 85 or 86?
Yes,that is possible...lok
I fondly remember this too many many years ago--on a TV show called Video West. One of the first music videos I had ever seen.
They used to show this on Turkey TV back in the day!
I remembered the song, saw that video, went to five guys. It’s a DMV thang!
They used to play this video frequently between shows on KQED
Nickelodeon Turkey TV Baby!!!
This video is in the permanent collection at the Museum Of Modern Art in N.Y.C.
Sad.

@@blonkeddleharvey2308because to classify this masterpiece with the trash known as “modern art” is an insult

This Was The Second Video I Saw On MTV
Remember seeing this in the early days of MTV
For those here that remember Turkey TV: what about that one video taking place at a veggie stand with a band dressed up as veg and ending with the lead singer (in a tomato costume) chasing away customers with a large knife?
Was Howard Hessman in that one?
(I don't remember any knife, though.)
RIP Commander Cody!
Always thought this was taped in 🇨🇦. Brilliant video.
I met the Commander many moons ago. He signed all my albums. My art teacher in high school was his cousin. That's where I first heard of him.
The burger place mentioned in the video is Kwik Way in Oakland, CA
RIP The original Kwik Way

Brian Wecht, you were right. This is the best music video ever.
If it's the only music video you've ever seen. Otherwise, probably not.
2020 and I still love it.

I remember reading in Rolling Stone that this was a hit in the UK, but the video was banned there for animal cruelty.

Turkey Television 😂...
More like 80-81....
Filmed at the tik tock drive-in San Francisco
Cool video.....gross food
Our childhoods were better ..sorry. enjoy 2025 ..ugh
The refrain is a ripoff of the refrain from a song by Girlschool and Motorhead "Don't you tough me baby I'm shaking so much"
That song you're talking about is a cover of Please Don't Touch
The framework of the song has been used many times before that....and after.
What year did this song come out?
Who is the black dude in the video
