Many do not know that this was Barrister’s first ever Album. This was the first song he recorder in 1967 after he returned to Lagos from the Army. You can hear a lot of reflection of “Were” (Islamic Style Music - mostly sang during Ramadam) but with a lot of Apala style. He would later call his own unique style “FUJI”. It was widely acceptable (by the prominent artistes the (i.e. Haruna Ishola, Ayinla Omowura, etc.)) that his (Barrister’s) style of music was unique and was well loved by all. He was also always respectful and paid homage to all senior artistes hence the unconditional love and acceptance by the prominent artistes at the time. Barrister’s high octave voice abilities made his songs so beautiful to the hears. His musical prowes and arrangements made his rise so fast and prominent. His analogies, proverbs and use of yoruba language was enviable. He’s the owner and originator of Fuji music. Not only is he the originator but also the best to sing it. His love for K1 also knew no bounds but unfortunately, this love was not reciprocated by K1. He used Barrister to rise to prominence (He was known earlier as Wasiu Ayinde Barrister) but was too ambitious that he more or less wanted all the attention to himself alone even before Barrister’s demise. Sad! He would have easily been the holder of the mantle after Barrister’s demise anyway, but he was too hasty and power hungry and impatient too. I like his music too tho, even if i do not like his person.
You did an amazing submission. This first album of Barrister reflect more of Sakara. As per K1, Barrister had unflinching love for K1 but Wasiu failed to reciprocate, in fact barrister bless, empowered and fortified wasiu Ayinde to be who he is today but he bite the finger that fed him. He was so ambitious to the extent that he's killing Fuji but many think he's a blessing to Fuji bcs many people accept his style where as he's killing Fuji. In mine opinion, it seems Barrister fortified and bless Wasiu Ayinde to take the baton and pass the baton of Fuji glory to the next sober artist, Fuji has many sober artist but Wasiu Ayinde failed to pass the baton and keep it to himself enjoying the foundational glory. By the time he dies Fuji will not be relevant again. Remember early 200s when Naija Hip hop and RnB was making waves infact Fuji was making was more than to the extent that Idris featured Pasuma, Rasqie feature Obesere wasiu feature blakky in 1996 and many more in fact Yinka Davies feature barrister in 2004. Now that Fuji and Afro beat ought to be as per bcs Fuji comprises 65% of Afro Beat. Wasiu Ayinde is killing Fuji . The promised he made to barrister about Fuji he must fulfil it. There's covenant btw them about Fuji but wasiu not fulfilling it bcs of his selfishness ✌🏽
I must commend you for this master piece of work at which you put here. I took my time and had to pause on play to read on; don't know if you're a Yoruba but TBH, you killed Oyinbo language for real. Iree o🎉

This song was actually released in 1975. His first official release after leaving the army was Ajuwe Ajuwe, 1968.

This is inspiring, today's musicians should borrow from this than singing songs that are in no way beneficial to humanity.

If this is Apala style it's unusual to hear this rhythm. I love it.
More of Wéré than other genre and the drum in this piece is sákárà
This how d Fuji creation started from , bcs it’s mixture of other genre music e.g sakara, apala, were, juju, Afro etc
