I think that Korean style of aegyo is unique and may be confusing to foreigners but I don’t think acting cute is as foreign as people make it seem. Americans do it too, just in our own ways (I say this as an American). People do it in relationships, toward young kids, toward their pets, toward their parents, etc. I think the difference comes from the fact that Korea has a word for it and a culture surrounding it to the point that they can literally say “do some aegyo” and people know how to respond. But acting cute probably exists everywhere, if you ask me.
Me thinking, yeah I'm not sure if aegyo is all that cute, then when your guest does a little aegyo one minute in, I'm like 😍😍😍. Also loved when you broke out with 'oh, hell naw!' 😂. Awesome interview as always!🎉
My theory on aegyo is that it's used to be frowned upon to be sexy in Korean culture since it's been conservative for a long time. Women still had to appeal to men because getting married was really important so they had to do something attractive but not vulgar; aegyo.
I think there’s a lot of aegyo in the west but it’s not a culture or acknowledgement as aegyo. I remember my friends and I do it with The parents and Grandparents when we want something or we get good grades and there’s certain reward we want then it’s done.

I think 🤔 I can pronounce Ageyo better than the host. I find it cute learned from kdrama ☺️
