So the Dark Dungeons film adaptation was made by the Dead Gentlemen Productions crew, who made The Gamers and The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, two excellent low-budget indie films made by and about tabletop gaming. The whole "Shadow" part was self referential to their previous works. These guys totally trolled Jack Chick by playing up how ridiculous Chick's ideas about Dungeons and Dragons would look fleshed out. Legend.

True fact, though I fell further and further away from the Church as I grew up (I got into the bad habit of reading the Bible at least once every year, _pretty solid_ way to entirely destroy your faith lol) the books and texts of C.S. Lewis probably kept me as a believer for about ten years on their own. If i'm not wrong, Mazes and Monsters was also a movie spawned by the fears of D&D spawned by the Darkest Dungeon comic. That movie is pretty crazy because even by the movie's standards the main character who is "brainwashed" by D&D (TOM HANKS no less in one of his earliest roles) clearly must have other issues as everyone else around him seems to be perfectly well adjusted people and he just goes off the deep end, and it is never really explained why.
Man i hate when during a campaign someone accidentally summons a Chtulu by reading badly translated arabic words, you have to litterally take two hours of valuable game time sealing him back up, not considering the cleaning and replacing of the exploded furniture after the sealing is done. We had to start playing outside after the last time, Tim mother threw us out of her garage after Bugg-Shash ate half her car.

Here is something about cthulu. The story that the creature first appeared in "the call of cthulu" was written by hp lovecraft during the serious bout of depression he was suffering after his mother died.
The guys who made this film have made a few other movies that are awesome. The Gamers Dorkness Rising is amazing. They actually had a small section shot in the Wizards of the Coast offices.

I vividly remember crying over one of those comics because it involved this little homeless girl who was shown kindness moments before her death. I remember crying over that one and it was the only one I ever even cared for. Sorry for the comment ramble, Nate mentioned the fact some are really touching.
The Bard tries to seduce the dragon with a sweet melody and even sweeter words. *The Bard rolled a 1* The dragon introduces her fat friend to the Bard leading to a night of anger and shame as the Bard awakes next to the fat dragon the next morning.
My school DND club is a perfect example of why some people are worried about it's influence. Because apparently a couple of kids before I joined up, made a drug empire in the game. And in the current one I'm playing, there's this one character named Bob is getting laid, and was actually almost raped by dolphin's at the last meeting, and in the first campaign I was in, we ended up joining forces with this crazy clown demigod who is trying to become an actual god, and it basically goes downhill from there. I could go on and on about the absolute insane asylum that is that club but I doubt that I have the time.
Every time I see someone who claims to be Christian accusing every other trending IP of being satanic I'm tempted to grab their own copies of the Sword and ask if they've ever bothered to even open it.
Now I wanna see someone in DND campaign where a group of Clerics basically try to convince the kingdom killing innocent people will earn favor from the gods
i dont know why and i dont know how but out of everything in this movie, the fact that they use "tiamat", the name of the 5 headed dragon goddess, as the name of a human barbarian just aggravates me to no end.
So one of the fun things about this film is while they got the endorsement of the original author and very faithfully executed the story. The group that made it does a number of dnd fan projects, and are big dnd fans, so it's obviously tongue in cheek showing the absurdity of the original track.. You can look into zombie orpheus entertainment on youtube if interested they have a number of their films available on their channel including dark dungeons.
As a Christian myself and an avid D&D player, I am thoroughly embarrassed by the way that some Christians act and fear-monger about D&D. I am lucky to have grown up in a rather chill Christian household and be around really chill and understanding people.

My grandma was a Mormon, and her elders were all aboard the "Fantasy is Satanism" bandwagon. She had them come out and clean out my uncle's old room. One of the things they tossed out was a little board game called HeroQuest. Look up what that's selling for these days. I was so mad. I would've happily taken that game with me and taken care of it.

So the Dark Dungeons film adaptation was made by the Dead Gentlemen Productions crew, who made The Gamers and The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, two excellent low-budget indie films made by and about tabletop gaming. The whole "Shadow" part was self referential to their previous works. These guys totally trolled Jack Chick by playing up how ridiculous Chick's ideas about Dungeons and Dragons would look fleshed out. Legend.

True fact, though I fell further and further away from the Church as I grew up (I got into the bad habit of reading the Bible at least once every year, _pretty solid_ way to entirely destroy your faith lol) the books and texts of C.S. Lewis probably kept me as a believer for about ten years on their own. I probably would have left the church a _lot_ sooner were it not for me finding his way of putting religion to be much more reasonable and acceptable.
I dare say if my fellow church goers had been studying and using his works, who knows, I might have never left.
Keep in mind, I'm not saying ALL Christian religions are bad...Quite the contrary, I just mean that there are plenty of wolves in sheep's clothing out there, trying to make the actual sheep look bad.

If i'm not wrong, Mazes and Monsters was also a movie spawned by the fears of D&D spawned by the Darkest Dungeon comic. That movie is pretty crazy because even by the movie's standards the main character who is "brainwashed" by D&D (TOM HANKS no less in one of his earliest roles) clearly must have other issues as everyone else around him seems to be perfectly well adjusted people and he just goes off the deep end, and it is never really explained why.
The reason Latin is a dead language is because people got tired of summoning demons during their conversations.

Man i hate when during a campaign someone accidentally summons a Chtulu by reading badly translated arabic words, you have to litterally take two hours of valuable game time sealing him back up, not considering the cleaning and replacing of the exploded furniture after the sealing is done. We had to start playing outside after the last time, Tim mother threw us out of her garage after Bugg-Shash ate half her car.

My school DND club is a perfect example of why some people are worried about it's influence. Because apparently a couple of kids before I joined up, made a drug empire in the game. And in the current one I'm playing, there's this one character named Bob is getting laid, and was actually almost raped by dolphin's at the last meeting, and in the first campaign I was in, we ended up joining forces with this crazy clown demigod who is trying to become an actual god, and it basically goes downhill from there. I could go on and on about the absolute insane asylum that is that club but I doubt that I have the time.

i dont know why and i dont know how but out of everything in this movie, the fact that they use "tiamat", the name of the 5 headed dragon goddess, as the name of a human barbarian just aggravates me to no end.
So one of the fun things about this film is while they got the endorsement of the original author and very faithfully executed the story. The group that made it does a number of dnd fan projects, and are big dnd fans, so it's obviously tongue in cheek showing the absurdity of the original track.. You can look into zombie orpheus entertainment on youtube if interested they have a number of their films available on their channel including dark dungeons.
As a Christian myself and an avid D&D player, I am thoroughly embarrassed by the way that some Christians act and fear-monger about D&D. I am lucky to have grown up in a rather chill Christian household and be around really chill and understanding people.
i went to a christian school for years and people would call harry potter yugioh pokemon and mtg demons and stuff but then go and say how much they love like warrior cats and wings of fire like they could not tell fantasy from reality at all one of the kids when anw wined to his mom about me having my yugioh cards and told some made up bs and then she got them banned from school but his family is full on nuts like antivax and a bunch of other crap btw i dont really have a solid religion i just belive dont be a dick to people and be acepting and loving and youll be fine becuse so many religions are so full of hate and the anti lgbtq+ stuff in the bible has been found to be faked by people wanting to spread hate like people have found this but people still use religion for stuff like that but ya people do messed up crap in the name of religion like in the middle east a women can be killed for not wearing a cloth on her head or for showing part of her skin other then her eyes depending on witch part your in or if she trys to go to school and people have hired killers to kill women who have gone and left to go live there life becuse they went agianst there families wishes like religion is kinda just bs there are some that actually dont have hate but they arnt that well known but ya no real point in having a religion if it means hating people for no reason or killing people becuse to are diffrent like its one of the things that makes me wonder how we have lived so long like how have we as a species gotten this far we should have wiped eachother out by now but some how we have not
I know a pretty serious Christian family, and they are super into lord of the rings and the hobbit. One of them bought a replica of Glamdring for a few hundred dollars. They already kind of border on being cultish and overzealous with their beliefs, so to be soo Christian that you can’t handle fantasy, you have to be seriously deep into the pipeline.
