Mark is right though. Saying Ben is really good at the game is not also saying that Des is not good at the game. Ben’s best skill here is he leads and communicates more than Des does. Des is more of a doer. He even said “you just gotta play and figure it out” to jay lol
Yea Bens comms are on another Tier, that really why they kept blowing them out in the later games. And tbh from what Ive seen from my ranked homies who play RL competitively be talking like how Ben does to his team, that really what makes or breaks 3v3s is the callouts and positioning of everyone

Ben was just the better teacher and that's ok to say. He would tell Lee and Mark to be exactly at the middle 2-3 steps before he got there to set it up. Des (even at the beginning) was just saying rely on your game sense, which is true, but they also needed direction. Honestly, if Des could get his teammates to rotate better, they wouldn't have so many holes on their fields.
I will say, I think having Mark/Leland on Des team early wasn't ideal either because Mark JUST started to learn how to play. Give him a couple games to learn the control, I don't doubt that Mark will be up there.

I don’t have that viewpoint. I think them being the sorriest gives them an outside perspective of basic skills outside of just Rocket League, like communication and patience with others.

It's not just that. Ben has better positioning, uses front flips to increase speed and conserve boost, understands that you need to avoid double commits (what he calls "stacking"), etc. I've even heard him talk about "rotation" so he must have seen some TH-cam videos about Rocket League. Ben is just way better than Des and Dylan right now.

Desmond cannot concede to the fact that Ben is just a good coach. It aint even about him being a good player. Like I dont know a thing about how to play Rocket League but the second Ben told Jay and Lee to stop stacking and spread out/set up in the middle and Jay got that shot off, I understood how his team was winning. Des has everything talent wise besides analyzing what’s going on. He’s like a fish wondering why it’s not going forward; while it’s swimming upstream.
If Mark and Leland improve later on and no longer need communication, it's possible Des won't learn anything in the end.
It’s not that he can’t concede he’s just mad cause he lost. It’s natural. He’ll just have to get better at communicating coherently in a way that everybody can understand. He’s too straight forward where as been breaks the shit down and tells you step by step. Des is naturally good so he don’t know how to explain whereas Ben puts in the work to make sure he can break it down to his teammates.
Even if Des has skill and could win in a 1v1, Ben's macro and comms are leagues above Des'.

Des is not equal to Ben period end of story because he has a talent to lead, but des is a strong player and needs to be under leadership because he can't lead, and that is cool not everyone are leaders, but some are really solid executors of orders which is rare.
Ben the sargent, and Des is a right hand man, and both will drop you before you blink in this game. Together they would be unstoppable with Mark or Dyl. I feel Mark has Gohan or Goku levels potential, and Dyl i think will be one of the best set-up and defense players.

There is some truth to Des' complaints, cause Leland and Mark stacked or kept bumping into each other while on Des team. They played a bit passive too, but that's on Des for not giving direction. Ben told them when to either be on ball or on defense and they were always active cause of it.
These are my exact sentiments! They literally did the same thing on each team, Ben just facilitated it differently. Maybe when they play again, Des will change his strat and be more of a leader. Even Mark was like, "why are you listening to me" lol

These past rocket league vids got me really invested.
Mark told des to play defense and said to trust him and Leland in attack and then about 30 minutes later said he shouldn't have trusted.
Ben was at the right place at the right time. Mark and Leland was already trying to do what they needed to. One team just had better defender on the day.
Mark Lee and Des on that team each had at least 2 one goals to their name.

In 2 v 2 mistakes are magnified. LEE was being exposed. 3 v 3 you have more room for mistakes because theres another guy to back you up. Saying that, I never could've foreseen Lee Having a performance like that. He played good every game , even when they lost. Happy to see Lee FINALLY BREAKOUT.

Even if it was a 3v2 the more teammates Ben has the better. If gives him more opportunities to defend or score goals while improving other players. Des just ends up clashing with his teammates more.
Des should’ve listened to Mark. Define a role and it will be easier to play . They lost 3 games in a row and Mark already figured out that Des probably needs to focus on Defense and let them try to score. Des said they didn’t know how to score but the first game; Mark and Leland did all the scoring and Des made the saves. Then they lost 3 straight. Des didn’t even tell Mark how to play, he just said it’s too complicated and Mark has to learn on his own. He could’ve told him how to flip, how drift, how to hit the ball, ball cam, how to use the boost and the importance of conserving but he said nothing. Even mark recognized that the other team was communicating and Des was not at all. Des is a bad leader for the game and he gets emotional too quickly. Ben is by far the best.

I think Ben and Des are pretty equal. They just have different play styles, but I also would have to say that Ben is the better leader. When Lee and Dyl first switched teams(2v2), Ben coached him, and he got better(they were winning for a while until Dylan got better). Also, Dylan is still definitely better than Lee( I won't argue sbout this). Anyway, if RL becomes part of the main rotation, then I hope everyone gets better
Any team that Lee is in when it comes to 2v2s loses or any team that Dyl is in wins. That shows you the gap between them individually. Ben n Dyl > Des n Lee or Ben N Lee < Dyl n Des
Nah Ben is much better than Des. It's not even close honestly. Ben and Dyl was able to carry Ippi because Ben is good enough to offset it somewhat. Des is a good solo player. He can have zero weak links because he doesn't cover for his teammates.

The biggest problem with Des' team is mainly coordination. Yes, Des is probably one of the best players on the team, but one player can only do so much. Des has a hard time adjusting to his teammates. Multiple times, someone on Des' team (mostly Dylan) would push waaaay foward with no one backing him up when the other team redirected the ball. Des should've either told someone to stay behind while he moved up or told Dylan to wait out the other team for an opening. Ben was constantly switching and adapting on the fly, making it easy to play around Des because he played into his team's strength.
Dylan is good with setups, but he has poor timing and can be impatient. Ippi is new so he's not as versatile. He can still hit the ball, though, and play midfield reasonably well because he has a good view of the whole court from behind. Des is a force to be reckoned with but he was constantly getting the run around, making it hard for him to have ball control. He also stayed in one spot too much
The reason why "Ben was everywhere" as Mark was saying it was because he would intentionally go where he was needed the most. If he saw that it was a 2v1 on his side of the field, he would wait for an opening and redirect away from the court. This gives Mark or Leland an opening to push it forward. Ben also knew he was the best at scoring, so he would intentionally wait for an opening (while he told someone else to defend) and push foward while everyone else was out of position.if he saw someone like Dylan on Des coming at the same time he would redirect or push forward to set up for someone else. Despite doing this, he never bit off more than he could chew. Des was trying to do everything at once. Ben was strategically manipulating the team positions so that he always had the most inportant role in that moment.
Des would just let Dylan push into a situation that he was obviously outnumbered. He would let Ippi hit the ball and sit back instead of trying to contest with the enemy or push them out the way or intercept. And when he would take a position, he would just sit there. This isn't to say it was bad or anything, but if he was better useful at the back, he was never there. If he was better at midfield, he wasn't there. If he was better pushing with Dylan, he wasn't there. Despite how it looked, Des didn't really do anything wrong. Ben was just that much better at playing into his team dynamic, and Des needed Dylan or Ippi to change up or adjust to his style. Des isn't good at adjusting on the fly, and that's a huge advantage that Ben was using. TLDR: Ben was a better team leader.
