The perfect part is that this ending actually makes sense considering where Snake goes in the franchise moving forward. He and Otacon remain attached at the hip for the rest of the series, settle down in a flying house, and adopt a child to care for from here on.
probably had to keep it canon with the good ending with Meryl's appearance in the 4th installment, but the bad ending of 1 really solidified its message a lot more than the good ending.
I’ll just make a head-canon where it’s the bad ending but Meryl didn’t die and just escaped, like Otacon in the good ending. Though the MGS series story is pure genius, they’re filled with retcons so it’s not difficult to incorporate head-canons to the story.
@@nakimushi11 Oh yeah, Hideo did said that it's part of his intentions that stories of his are left with plot holes. Not that I don't know what happened to him, but there are so much more to give out a reason as to why he became a cyborg between 2 and 4. the spin-off, Rising, was supposed to fill in that gap, but the direction was sent to Platinum Studio and was revised into a whole different game. That entire just chatting portion of the stream was just an absolute joy to listen through. Especially the part when they brought up Pomu's pachinko machine. Her brainrot was in full force front and center that day. 🤣
Sad as it is that Meryl dies, I've always preferred this ending. It was the first ending I got back in the day (mainly because 10-year-old me wasn't capable of mashing buttons that quickly) and everything about those scenes were so moving!
There I am, Gary! There I am! I’m sure if I listened closely, I could hear Pomu kicking her feet in excitement. Either way, I don’t think Elira’s ready for the Snake and Otacon skinship that happens.
I'm so glad I was able to watch this live (and hey, some of my comments showed up a few times here!). Elira's reactions were priceless. I can't wait to see her deal with the insanity of MGS2.
Anyone who may not know why this is funny, there’s another ending that has Meryl instead of Otacon and it’s supposed to be romantic. (I had to check before I finished this video lol)
@@multicoloredwiz What if he just used the same timestamps as with his pomu vids, but didn't adjust the timing of elira's footage in any way. So it just randomly cuts to different scenes, to try to see if you can still make out the plot of metal gear. Call it the low effort Edit

It's been over 20 years and I just now understood the meaning of Hal and Dave. I don't know why this is what activated it for me.
a 2001 a space odyssey reference
Yeah same, that's crazy
“I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that”.
HAL = the AI computer in 2001
Dave = the human MC.
he did it again in 2 with jack and rose the two leads from titanic
And Dave - Meryl are from Kojima's previous game Policenaught
They really are the dorkiest couple ever.
Which ones?

Elira has been infected with the brainrot too?!! If only I knew earlier 🥲
Well she’s playing MGS2 this weekend
@@Cs-cp6vo Ohh ok. I'll keep that in mind. Tnx!

I used to like the Meryl ending better, but now this ending just feels so good for the rest of the series.
Zooming into pomu doesn’t make us focus on pomu….the double Suika is too gravitationally strong

Absolutely Canon
I forget how fujo Pomu is sometimes.
Pomu's been eating real good with all the new Metal Gear playthroughs lately :DDD
Thank u brother

Otacon and Snake feel like a reflection of Elira and Pomu.
Now I can't unsee it
Are we gonna get elira comp for mgs????
Earlier he said its up to Seed or pbox or another eli clipper, probably. Nani has probably gone thru enough mgs footage haha

We have to wait for Konami to release Master collection vol. 2
