Little India, Singapore🇸🇬 A Colorful Walk Through Cultural Vibrance (4K HDR)

Little India in Singapore is a vibrant ethnic district located east of the Singapore River, opposite Chinatown and north of Kampong Glam, within the Rochor urban planning area. Known as Tekka to the Indian Singaporean community, Little India was originally a European area used for cattle trading, which attracted Indian migrant workers specialized in cattle. Over time, as the swamps were drained and European traders moved out, it became predominantly Indian.
The area was the site of a riot in December 2013, following a traffic accident that resulted in a fatality. Despite the modern policy of racial harmony, which discourages segregation, Little India remains a focal point for the Indian community's commercial and cultural activities. It is not exclusively Indian, however; it also features Chinese clan associations, places of worship for different religions, and a variety of businesses.
Serangoon Road, the main commercial thoroughfare, is lined with landmarks like the Tekka Centre, Little India Arcade, and the Mustafa Centre. The district is also home to several Hindu temples, mosques, and other places of worship, including the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple and the Abdul Gafoor Mosque, showcasing a mix of Arabian and Renaissance-style architecture.
Little India is accessible by the MRT, with stations like Little India and Farrer Park serving the area, and is known for its multicultural vibe, with facilities catering to various ethnic groups in Singapore.
