I have always said, when it comes to food, presentation doesn't really matter as long as it tastes good. But I have to say, your presentations are always damn good. Very impressive, Byron.
The more I see your recipes, the more I realize that your cuisine esthetic is very ordered. I am a French speaker and the word "ratatouille" evokes to me just the contrary, I think because of the similarity to the verb "touiller", for "to stir roughly" or "tambouille", which is slang for "regular quality food". But carry on, you are very passionate and talented !
The dish preparation is based off of the movie's, Ratatouille, preparation of the dish. They prepared it this way at a fine dining restaurant. Watch a clip on TH-cam to see how it looked. :)
This is awesome! Could you made do a week dedicated to college kids/dorm cooking? Like cooking in a dorm with nothing but a microwave, keurig and fridge
My mom used to make this when I was little but I never really knew what it was until I saw Ratatouille, and she never had the time to cut the veggies so finely. But it is such a lovely dish and it reminds me of my homeland.
Wow this looks so yummy and easy to make. I've tried several other recipes of yours and have never been disappointed. Will def try this one next. Thanks for sharing.
We had this dish tonight for supper, and can I just say "OH MY WORD!!! DELIC!" It's a cast of flavors that I wouldn't normally think I'd like together but last week when my son and I had a binge fest of your videos my son said we must try the ratatouille I said we will. Tonight was the night... I'm in heaven and will make it again soon. Thank you!
I have some squash left over from my grilled sandwiches and want to try this too. It looks very good. He also has a recipe for french onion soup that looks really good too!
I tried this recipe, omg it is amazing! Especially the jalapeño version, a little bit spicy is just perfect! Oh I made a bigger portion so I baked 25mins till it's all done
Your spin on ratatouille makes it look so fancy compared to the old French recipe i use but i'm sure it tastes just as good! I'll have to try you version next time. Cheers from France!
I love this, this made me so happy. Because when I saw the picture, my first thought was the movie. And that is one of my favorite movies and I always wanted to know how to make it :D Thank you
You should make a Disney Week! So there's this ratatouille, Tiana's beignets from The Princess and the Frog, etc. Or a movie week, making famous dishes from famous movies or tv shows - Homer Simpson's donuts, Hunger Games bread, etc.
I LOVE how clean, crisp, and simple your videos are and how the food is always infused with unique flavors! This Veggie Week had me really excited as I am a recent vegan. I'm sure me and your thousands of other vegan followers would love to see a #VeganWeek! Hope you do it, and thanks in advance!
Great recipe!!! And A Vegetarian!!!! I am so glad so see a veg dish in ur channel! Plz make more of them!!! Can this b combined with cheese??? I love it!!
Love this recipe! It's much easier to make than some of the ones I've seen... but the taste is amazing! I paired it with salmon stuffed with crab meat!
Fun fact: This specific variation of ratatouille is called 'confit byaldi' and was probably invented in 1976. There are a lot of different ways to make ratatouille; not all of them slice the veggies thin, and I think some even involve frying them.
Made some of this at home, and it came out great! Lots of bold flavors from the tomato paste and I loved how the taste bled into the vegetables. It was my first time eating, let alone making, ratatouille, but im so glad I found this recipe. Also made some of my homemade garlic bread to go alongside the dish and my family loved it! Thanks for the recipe (:
Ahh Byron, you are so amazing! You make your recipes look completely effortless (though I'm sure you out in a lot of effort for every single one of them!) this looks amazing! Thanks for sharing
Your videos are insanely awesome and well made. But could you PLEASE sync the ingredients to the actual footage of the description? Sometimes you say to put sugar way before the video actually shows it (that's an example). This may not make any sense for you Americans, but for us who has english as a 2nd language, sometimes get mixed up with the ingredients.
I remember when I was disappointed finding out that it was actually veggies not flat round noodle-type things when I was a kid. Now that I'm older, I actually want to try this.
You should try adding a fennel and some vegetable stock maybe You can also, around 10min before this is done in the oven. Take some slices of bread with cheese on top, put it on the dish and when you take it out after the 10min, you will have soaked bread in the bottom and crisp on the top
Am I the only one who watches cooking videos just to see how good the food looks?
You're not alone my friend .

"This is a peasant dish!"
joshua ha But it is so good!
I thought of that line the whole way through, but the fancy music and presentation don't make it seem that way at all :0
peasants were the backbone of the feudal system
joshua ha well it was in a Disney movie about a rag cooking and it was just composed of vegetables so
Prince Benny BONE
Guys chill out there arent many different ways to make ratatouille. Its a very simple dish. Looks amazing Byron! Cant wait to make it!
One of the firs things I learnt to cook! Your version looks great
I have always said, when it comes to food, presentation doesn't really matter as long as it tastes good. But I have to say, your presentations are always damn good. Very impressive, Byron.

Totally agree! It looks more like a tian than a ratatouille
The dish preparation is based off of the movie's, Ratatouille, preparation of the dish. They prepared it this way at a fine dining restaurant. Watch a clip on TH-cam to see how it looked. :)

there's recipe books dedicaced to microwave cooking. just look for some recipes on google?

pair this with a seasoned chicken breast , garlic bread and a nice white wine.... heaven!
My mom used to make this when I was little but I never really knew what it was until I saw Ratatouille, and she never had the time to cut the veggies so finely. But it is such a lovely dish and it reminds me of my homeland.

Your spin on ratatouille makes it look so fancy compared to the old French recipe i use but i'm sure it tastes just as good! I'll have to try you version next time. Cheers from France!
I love this, this made me so happy. Because when I saw the picture, my first thought was the movie. And that is one of my favorite movies and I always wanted to know how to make it :D

You should make a Disney Week! So there's this ratatouille, Tiana's beignets from The Princess and the Frog, etc. Or a movie week, making famous dishes from famous movies or tv shows - Homer Simpson's donuts, Hunger Games bread, etc.

In the french "traditional" ratatouille there is no paprika and squash, we also usually use bell peppers :)
As a perfectionist, that layering makes me happy!
ive seen most of your recipes, but i never came across this until now! looks great! :p
I'm so excited that you posted this!!!! My husband is going to love this...and this is the perfect side to bring to Thanksgiving dinner!

OMG! I have always wanted to eat the Ratatouille in the movie. Thank you!
I think this can be a way to get kids to eat their veggies.
I always thought it was pepperoni lol
I remember when I was disappointed finding out that it was actually veggies not flat round noodle-type things when I was a kid. Now that I'm older, I actually want to try this.
You should try adding a fennel and some vegetable stock maybe
You can also, around 10min before this is done in the oven. Take some slices of bread with cheese on top, put it on the dish and when you take it out after the 10min, you will have soaked bread in the bottom and crisp on the top
