Season one has a lot of expository, one-off episodes, but goodness, it manages to make for a very compelling narrative as it moves forward. Like it actually _has_ a legitimate, well-told plot with some twists and turns. I'm excited to take this journey with you, Alycia!

I really hope you'll watch the entire series. At first, I wasn't that convinced, first episodes were "okay it's fun" but also a little silly, although I liked the animation and the Star/Marco chemistry. Season 1 gets better and better with some very good episodes ("Mewberty", "Blood Moon Ball", the finale, the St Olga episode). Season 2 and 3 marks a great improvement with a real focus on the story/background, really good character-developement, great visuals and animated sequences, episodes get deeper and sometimes very emotional. In fact, some episodes of SVTFOE approach the quality of the great episodes of Gravity Falls or Steven Universe in my opinion. It's not perfect yet (a lot of filler episodes, comedy a lil bit anticlimatic at times) but this series has a great potential. I'm pretty hyped for season 4. (Sorry for my english, i'm french)

Hearing you describe Star and Marco, I used to be anxious and never want to make anyone mad growing up, but I was also a lot like Star, I've gotten pretty good about the anxiety, so I guess I'm a mix if the two lol, never thought boit it that way before

A lot of the episodes are one of those 2 in 1 episodes rather than one full half an hour. Some episodes every now and then will be a full half hour, but most of the 1st season is 2 episodes in 1.
I'm only realizing it now, SVTFOE is like PG Rick And Morty! Just from the first episode, they have similar premises. A wildcard loose canon character with superpowers go on crazy adventures through different dimensions with an anxiety-ridden reluctant non super-powered partner.
Ahhh I love SVTFOE so much! You really have to appreciate it for what it is because it's amazing, I love the art style and Star and the way they tell the story, although similarly to gravity falls every so often you get reminded that it's sort of a show for kids. The good thing is that despite being (sort of ) a show for kids, it's a show that basically ANY age range can enjoy, just like GF!!! :D

I really hope you'll watch the entire series.
