Love the Swedish language but I spent four months in Sweden and only know about seven Swedish words. Everyone spoke excellent English including my girlfriend who always spoke English.

The fact that 90% of Swedes speak English fluently can make it very difficlt for English speakers to learn the language even if they are living in Sweden. Everyone just switch as soon as they know you are an English speaker.
I had never heard this, but it is very good. I seem to remenber that the author of the lyrics for the Swedish Mamma Mia was Niklas Strömstedt? And he certainly is good.

Swedish is the most beautiful Germanic language, no contest..Norwegian is next ...Dutch comes last (I am Dutch)..sounds like an inflammation of a human throat..
The funny thing is that when Swedish people hear Dutch it sounds like something we think we should understand, like a weird dialect of something.
