We used to get a few old boys calling in to the shop regular. One was a lathe turner/toolmaker/machinist for nigh on 45 years. Retired years back but still had a big shed with a mother of a lathe in it. He liked to chew the fat with the lads and did most of our machining for our custom jobs. Cash of course, as he always called it the wife's purse. One of the lads that works for us asked him if he would give him some lessons on the lathe and he said 'Son, if I thought that would benefit you in the future I would do it like a shot, but it's a dying art. It's all done by computers now. Funny thing was, a couple of weeks later the local engineering shop had a big important job on for Cammell Laird's shipyard and the all singing and dancing computer lathe went down. Guess who they rang to do the job on the huge old Dean, Smith&Grace lathe in the corner of the shop gathering dust. And he did. The classic car movement ain't dead yet, and guys like us are still very much needed and a big part of it, so use the talent where it's best placed. Get an IT bod to do your channel and you do what you do best, practical work, which is always more interesting than someone borrowing a classic car to drive and then talking about it. Especially when they think a universal joint is something that's passed around at a party. Keep your chin up mate. 👍
No doubt about it, that was an impressive cold start. Brian you sound really down in the dumps - January is the Monday of all months that's for sure. I hope the trip to the fracture clinic goes well and your wife is getting better. Look after yourself ole thing. 👍🙂
I have never seen a V-4 (I've commented with your cars before, from Vancouver BC, Canada) I'm impressed with how quickly it fires up cold, I would love to drive it, I have been into classic cars my whole life, have a 63 Dodge now, I especially like those 66- early 70s Zephyr/Zodiacs, we had Cortinas here but I have never seen any bigger British Fords in person before. I have subscribed to your channel, look forward to seeing more of those treasures in the future!
Starts on the button, Lovely car. I don't blame you not taking it out on the road in these conditions, like you say, it's the standard of driving by the ne'er-do-wells that's the problem.
As long as people are on the planet, they’ll need water to drink and having heat, light and power. We need tradesmen like plumbers and electricians etc.
Thanks for the chat. I see it as your tidying up and finishing the customers paying jobs. Slim down your car collection. Will you keep the premises with all the overheads ? some the younger generation are interested, they're not too common though ! I watch other channels made by 20 yrs olds with practical skills, not in the car trade though. Take care Brian from a snowy South Yorkshire.
Great cold start on the Zephyr, looks a good runner. I get your worries about the classic car future. I’m 30 and often I’m the youngest with the Allegro at car shows but there is an increasing number of younger people getting into classic cars it seems. How are you doing with the Robin? Really been enjoying seeing that
You're just in the wrong place, imagine you working with the likes of Edd China or someone like that, you'd fit right in. As you know, people with the knowledge to actually do things are getting thin on the ground. There has to be lads with cars that need your skills but they don't know you exist. Such is the thing with social media, there's so much of it, it can be hard to find what you need unless you know where to look. Good call selling the cars, it will clear the decks and it's not good for them sitting without being used. With less cars around you, you'll get the remaining ones done and that will leave room for doing things you actually want to do. Chin up and i wish you well whatever you decide to do. Would be nice to see you meeting other youtubers, possibly showing them how to make a simple panel etc, that would get you noticed and you never know what would happen then.....
100% Now you can have as many tools and years of knowledge but see unless your a wiz kid with a laptop then forget it. See that goes with any car built in the last 15 or more years
Now then I’ve not had the pleasure of shaking your hand yet but you listen to me I’m 58 and love the Chanel ok you don’t show much of the spanner’s I wish you did it sounds like you’re in a bit of a rut grab the bull by the horns and crack on if you’re hart is in the classics then keep them alive
Sadly theres no fu5ure in classic cars due to the demand for hybrid and electric cars its a chuck away world now brian everyone wants new things i reached a point where i lost the will to live more money workin at tesco i cant work a computer clueless with ebay so i ended up delivering parc els for amazon gives me a few bob to keep me goin insane maybe bus driver next or on on lifes scrap heap

This really puts to bed the reasoning that British cars didnt start on a winters morning .
@@FenderTele a maintained car will always start, probably the reason British cars always got pulled down service recommended intervals never kept up.
@Diggers-Garage My grandfather had a saying his words were oil is an inexpensive mechanic look after a car and it looks after you
