      What do you suggest to do if you adjust the string all the way up but the saxophone is still to far away from your mouth and you still have to bend your neck to reach the mouthpiece

      Bend the handles a bit more, that will bring up the saxophone closer to your mouth😀

So I understand you when your referring to back pain oh my Gosh I do understand You!! And like you I play everyday for hours cuz is my life and therapy as a combat Veteran of war. But pain does affect me and I truly cannot see myself not playing the Saxophone! So thank you very much for your testimony and how great this Strap has been for you!! Seriously thank You. Hello! Thanks so much for your message. Really happy to hear that my video resonated with you. I know how painful back and neck injuries can be and wanted to share my little story with the world.
      The holder has been a life-saver, literally. I learned to do lots of strength in the gym too, to allow my body to cope with the weight and posture.
      Good luck to you and keep on playing!

    I bought the latest version of this a few weeks ago. It’s great. The one change I would make is to have a linking security cord on the back linking the two shoulder hooks. As someone else observed it can slip off your shoulders if you lean forward so it doesn’t offer the security of the traditional neck strap.

    • @LondonSaxophoneSchool
      @LondonSaxophoneSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The new model has that yellow button in the middle that secures the arms. That secures it a bit more than the old version. The cord at the back is such a great idea. I will suggest it to Jazz Lab😀

    Hello!
    1) Does the pressure on the solar plexus affect your ability to breath or durabillity when you play the saxophone?
    2) Can you play having your horn on the side?
    Thank you for your very informative and nice review :)

    • @LondonSaxophoneSchool
      @LondonSaxophoneSchool  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Kouts, at the beginning the plate would bother me a lot as I found it to be very uncomfortable. After my back injury, I had no choice as I did not want to use a traditional strap (and I still don't) so I forced myself to not think about it and now I don't even notice it. I prefer to have the plate high up where the solar plexus is as I don't like having it down on my belly but that's a personal preference. The plate does not interfere with my breathing :)
      I only play alto and I always play with the horn centered. However, if for any reason, I want/need to play with the horn sideways I can with no issues.
      I hope this helps. For anything else let me know :)
      Best,
      Martino

    Many thanks for this great video Martino. I bought the old Saxholder the very day I started playing the saxophone for the first time four years ago. The only minor issue I have with the Saxholder is that it tends to slip off the shoulders if I bend down or lean too far forward whilst wearing it. Otherwise it is very comfortable, solidly built, very reasonably priced and does an excellent job distributing the weight of the saxophone over the shoulders.

    • @LondonSaxophoneSchool
      @LondonSaxophoneSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Preet! It is so nice to hear from you! Yes, the sax holder is great! The holder it does slip off if you are not careful, though very stable for general playing/practicing. Have you tried the new model? They added a button in the middle that locks the arms😀

      @preetdhillon2972 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LondonSaxophoneSchool Very nice to see you looking well and happy Martino! I have not tried the new model but if my old one broke I would certainly buy it. The button locks, being able to fix the extension to a certain length and the larger abdominal rest all make the new model an improvement to what was already a great product.

    im using the sax holder pro on an alto sax and i have terrible neck pain... im probably using it wrong but i can find anything if i am using it correctly.

    • @LondonSaxophoneSchool
      @LondonSaxophoneSchool  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Separate the handle more perhaps. You might compressing some muscles in the shoulder that might be giving your neck pain or bring the sax higher as perhaps you're playing with the neck too forward.
      Note, this is not medical advice. For medical advise seek a specialist.

    Hey what size of the new one do you have. I have the medium version and the bendy parts don’t go all the way down my shoulders like it does yours. I use a wrap around because I’ve had major surgery on my back so I want to take it off my neck but I’m getting massive shoulder pain where it gets hot and painful. Was wanting to use this to maybe take the pain away from my shoulder. Should I get the XL version instead of the Medium?

    • @LondonSaxophoneSchool
      @LondonSaxophoneSchool  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is a medium as well. If you have some pain try all the possible combinations/alternatives until there's no pain left. If the shoulder/scapula pain is too much there's other alternatives to the sax holder that take the pain away. There's one by Vandoren called Universal Harness that might be a good thing to try :)

    Hi, Martino! I own the old version of the Sax Holder since 2015. The only different detail I liked very much for this new one is the little yellow button to block the two shoulder hooks. They easily slip off the shoulder if you wear the Holder while you are moving (as a marching band player or if you are on stage) and that button could fix the issue. Without it the old version is fantastic, but only if you play sitting down or standing up without too much movement. Thanks for this review and have you a nice ending of this weird 2020!

I don't play excessively, just an hour, 10 mins intervals and break as you advised. May be I should practice every other day, so I have more rest ? Small hands (

    Hi, can I use the saxholder with a soprano (actually with a Roand Aerophone)?

    • @LondonSaxophoneSchool
      @LondonSaxophoneSchool  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you totally can but see if you find it comfortable. I prefer the 1st model if I play soprano just because the 2nd Sax Holder model has the string holder that interfere with the actual saxophone.

    Hi Martino. A quick question. I've just moved over to using this one - it is so much better for my neck. However I'm finding that I'm losing the grip on the alto when I get to the high D. I suspect it is the way I'm holding the saxophone but I wondered if you had any suggestions?

    • @LondonSaxophoneSchool
      @LondonSaxophoneSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jenny! Nice to read you here! Ehm, tricky to tell without seeing you but check if you are pushing the sax out too forward with the right thumb.
      That might make it harder for stabilizing the sax.
      When playing palm D (I guess that’s the D you’re having troubles with) leave the sax touching your body so you add another point of contact which will help.
      Let me k ow if that solves this somehow😀🙏🎷

    Hi Martino, I have a question for you (you probably answer this thousands of times living in London) I would like to practice at night when I arrive home, but it’s too noise and I don’t want to disturbe my neighbors. Do you recommend me to practice with an ewi sax or do you think this is useless ? Thank you for your great videos!

    • @LondonSaxophoneSchool
      @LondonSaxophoneSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hola Manuel! I don’t play the ewi but if you want to get better at playing the saxophone you need to play the saxophone ahah.
      The ewi won’t substitute sax playing as sound production and key feel is different.
      It’s a nice instrument to make music though.
      Have you tried the sax mute? The enclosure?
