I recently passed my RBT exam and currently work in an ABA clinic! I know I am passionate about what I do and love working with the kids. Finding this field was purely luck and now that I’ve been working in it, I’m looking into becoming a BCaBA, then a BCBA. For my background, I’ve already graduated with a Bachelor’s in Speech and Hearing for Speech Therapy, but I’m really considering this new route over Speech because I feel more confident in this field. Do you feel this is a good field to pursue in my position? Is it worth it? I’m a little worried about job satisfaction and availability once I get the credentials. Any advice is helpful!
@@emmakate1922 hi!! thank you so much for commenting 😇. i’m glad you found the field of ABA! i was a BCaBA and i honestly never used my certification. in the company i worked for previously (in miami) it was basically the same as being an RBT… since you’ve completed your bachelors, you’d have to take the coursework for the field of ABA AND get experience hours which might take long. if you feel you like the field, i would definitely consider going straight to a masters program and immediately start accruing the needed experience hours to become a BCBA 😊. in my opinion, there are many pros (schedule flexibility, working with the kids and their families, making a difference, etc.) and cons (treatment plan writing, constant schedule changes, etc) to being a BCBA. my biggest advice would be to shadow BCBAs as much as possible and ask them all the questions you may have and consider your options! whatever you choose, i’m sure will be the right career path for you. thank you for supporting my channel💗
@@tellnatasha Thank you so much for taking the time to share your advice and knowledge! I will definitely use this going forward and keep doing my own research, too! Best of luck with your career!
thank you so much for watching & commenting ❤ my clients range from 3-10 for the most part but ABA can be used for pretty much all ages ✨. i’ve worked with teens/adults in the past! the board exam was tough!! i studied a lot & thankfully passed on the first try though 🤩
hi! that’s honestly not something i target - i think it’s more important to teach functional skills such as communicating their wants/needs. i even have a hard time with eye contact haha so i don’t expect my clients to be able to & it’s just not that significant to me!
I can’t wait for more live vlogssss
