Lemme add my two cents. I think feminism is not exclusively women's thing. It is wrong to say "feminists on this side and men on the other side". No. A feminist is anyone advocating for equal chances for both girls and boys. Ata the way you explained your opinion, you are a well articulated feminist. You believe in equal treatment for all. You understand that women can be as bad as men and that should not be overlooked. The issues should be looked at from both perspectives. I am glad to be part of boxpoders, always learning, beautiful souls with brilliant minds!!

I’m with Joyce .Let’s be real . GBV is centered around the systems that benefit men . You report to the police you barely get any help they tell you mambo ya watu wawili hatuingili. Your parents tell you baki huko vumilia mahari imelipwa . Women are 4 times more likely to die Kenyan women being killed by their spouses is the 3rd highest in Africa .

Interesting conversation. Definitely asking the right questions.
    1. I think feminism needs to be taught and understood well because it's an evolving theory, evolved from political rights to Labour rights to property rights to equality e.t.c society has influenced and informed these evolutionary curves based on needs at particular times and spaces. This like any other theory has had critics both men and women and thus rose the Radical Feminist Theorists that more often than not take a more combative stance. This is what is mostly what stands out and has played a role in changing history though that's not to say the less Radical Feminist didn't contribute to anything.
    2. Feminism is a collective approach to women's 'problems' and surprisingly, world over, there have been immense similarities. Why you ask? Culture and religion have played a huge role to propel a patriarchal society. Funny how in Victorian era, it was okay to 'discipline' a woman just as long as the thickness stick used was not bigger than the thumb! Remember this is at the height of slavery ('ending'), colonialism and missionaries a big influence to many cultures.
    3. The Native African Woman's story is never told or documented in its raw, wholesome and undiluted truth. Perhaps that's where the truth is, perhaps it will inform the foundation of the problem and find an African Woman's solution that works for us. Why is it that the more educated we are as a society and the more representation we have as women in Kenya, the more this issue feels helpless? Is it that women are still 'checked', is it that some want to maintain a status quo, is it that men have been left out of the conversation too long?
    4. This is not a new issue we are dealing with, it's has been here with us for long. We might need to go back to the drawing board and re-evaluate because now the intersections to the GBV are too complex to deal with them at face value.

hello guys am on the point of GBV, you see the way the gov passed the rule for beating or rather mistreating dogs there should be a rule for GBV to avoid having to blame the man all the time , make it easier to report marital fights and it should be investigated both ways coz no one wakes up and wants to beat up someone he/she married it must have triggers , the man may not always be the problem we have an f-up society we need to reset ourselves.

  • @jonathanmutele4128

What the manila paper said was right though because as a social society if we educate within bour gender roles about responsibility as men to protect and defend ladies that's within a correct scope to teach those weird wildcards within our numbers that these things are wrong and unacceptable, and on kids feeling targeted by the narrative that they are the problem the environment should be healthy and they should understand that certain behavior pushes one towards that final path and result as a dude yes some negativity did hit me but when its subdivided into each microcosm that certain traits and behaviors predispose one as a man or lady to becoming this undesirable individual ,in that they are not bad but they should have a healthy caution about their behavior so as to not become that , not to have a self persecution complex but a healthy caution of themselves.

I think sometimes we forget that we need each other and feminism and misogyny drives the point ;to create a divide between us. I wish we stopped finger pointing and each gender plays their role to create harmony in the society. Anyways whatever Kwambox said about GBV is food for thought about how we should stop generalising .

Great content Kwambox, you did your homework well, and thanks for addressing this even though we still have a long way to go as a country.
About Gen_Z's boy child not giving a f**k about the girl child, again totally my view. I think it is because they feel they have been excluded and not appreciated. For the last two decades, it has been about empowering & supporting the girl child. Also looking at most organizations and government programs, have mainly focused on girl child issues and problems.
So here you have empowered ladies who feel they are equal to the men and believe they deserve better and at the same time you have men who feel that ladies have had it easy and at the same time these men aren't educated on how to handle these empowered ladies.
