First, I am a pilot, so I understand the rules. Tower interrogated the helicopter to ask if he could see the flight. The helicopter pilot acknowledged, on a different military frequency (the tower controller was transmitting and receiving on both) that he had the aircraft in sight then requested "visual separation". This is the helicopter pilot stating that he had them visually and would take responsibility to avoid them. This was then authorized by the tower. This is a totally normal request and response and is part of "see and avoid" flying as specified by the FAA. Let's let the NTSB do their jobs and figure this out and stop speculating. May God hold those people in his arms.

I was with Trump here until he started the blame game at around 5:00. We don't have all the answers yet and it way too early to point fingers. It could be the pilots in either aircraft or ATC. We don't really know yet and he even admits it at 4:04. Trump should really be talking more about how he's going to help the victims' families and the resources for them.

If the plane's direction of travel was directly away from or towards the camera footage everyone is looking at, then the plane will look like it's hardly moving, even if the plane and helicopter are moving at comparable speeds.

As a pilot, I will say that in controlled airspace the ATC is responsible, unless the aircraft in question didn't follow its instructions.

How are pilots supposed to get night flight training if they don’t fly at night??? Not everything is a conspiracy. I often flew through busy airports late at night for training. All pilots do that’s how you become proficient.
What speed would the helicopter have to be going to intercept the airliner like that?! If he "saw" the airplane, why wouldn't he/she have did invasive maneuvers? Hearing speculations of "on purpose" to get to someone that was on that flight. God I hope not. I had friends that had friends on that plane. Shes part of the Junior Olympic figure skating team. She had friends on that plane.
If the plane's direction of travel was directly away from or towards the camera footage everyone is looking at, then the plane will look like it's hardly moving, even if the plane and helicopter are moving at comparable speeds.
Unless you are a passenger plane or Blackhawk pilot you have no knowledge of what happened or could have happened. trump knows nothing about who was in the tower & should not be talking about what he knows nothing about. As usual, it becomes political for him which was inappropriate.

This is a horrible event that should have never happened. It's most likely a tragic accident, but that helicopter pilot should've been way more aware of his surroundings. Absolutely gross negligence on that pilot and it cost 67 families one of their dearly loved.

When we were kids, this was the defining factor which made adults different from us. It's also the reason why we paid attention to the adults when they talked. We certainly used facial expressions to placate each other ALL THE TIME, but it didn't work.
