While it is a clever design, I can think of a much easier solution. Why not design a machine to rotate the tin? It is a very efficient way of mixing paint, whether in a spray can or tin even at slow rotation for say 10 - 20 minutes. Of course, in a tin, the lid has to fit properly, and the rim is not clogged with paint. The lid would have to be clamped tight somehow to stop it flying off. When preparing to paint, if I had such a device, I could set it going while preparing everything else and come back to a well mixed tin of paint.

@Tips365day Thank you for your kind words. Your design of the horizontal shaker may also work well if it modified to be vertical. I worked in a lab at Dulux paints, and the mechanical shaker was very useful, but they were expensive to buy and also bulky. A paint store where I am a customer used to allow us to bring in tins of paint from home, and they would put on their shaker as a favor to their customers. But then one tin failed, paint went everywhere and caused major damage to the machine..So no more. It is a nuisance to mix a full tin with a paddle as often the paint will overflow, making a mess, particulary if the heavier components such as pigments settle on the bottom. . I think I can make a rotating device with an electric motor, a pulley system to get the suitable rotation speed, and then a device to hold and clamp the tin in place, For me,if it takes 20 minutes, it won't matter as there is is plenty of preparation such as setting up ladders and scaffold etc before painting. If you manage to design something, I think it would be popular as commercial paint skakers while very rapid are very expensive and often too large and bulky for home use.
