Just an opinion: You guys nailed it with the video thumbnail. Keith Richards and Ron Wood are the indisputable rock and roll guitar duo. Food for thought: Ever listen to Blind Faith? Again, my opinion.

+nmlss Beg to differ. Can't stand the vocal style of At The Drive-In. Musicianship is obviously great in both bands, but I also very much prefer Progressive Rock over Punk.
Nothing compares to the guitar threesome of Maiden. Adrian takes a break. Says he wants to come back. Maiden is like, yeah but we already got two guitarists, and Janick is good. Screw it, let's make it three. Best decision they ever made.
megadeth, voivod, coroner, Metal Church, exodus, testament, vektor, slayer and razor would like a talk with Watchmojo. edit: oops, didnt know they said duo.
And like they are on a lot of these lists, they are completely wrong. With Friedman and Mustaine, Metallica could not compare to Megadeth. Hetfield is, by far, the weakest of the four guitarists these bands employed during their heydays. Then add the fact that both Dave and Marty are better than Kirk Hammett. Metallica is great, don’t get me wrong, but their guitar work is just not as good as Megadeth. Now vocals, that is a different story.

I thin that Mick Thompson and Jim Root should be on this list, they just have such great chemistry, everything from their tone to their styles to the way they act on stage just complements the other so well
YES
Great list of duel guitarists and that's pretty much the definitive list nice job🤘🤘🎸🎸
Not sure how Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir didn't even get an honorable mention
Because copious amounts of barbiturates and/or hallucinogens are required to make the Grateful Dead listenable...
Because only Grateful Dead fans like the Grateful Dead
Cuuuuuz ... Jerry would pass em up anyhoo?
Matt Pinski totally agree with you
Yeah, the grateful dead definitely are an aquirred taste.. I know l like them
slash and Izzy should be #1 they worked perfectly together
+Scamperface True, but they lacked longevity like most of the others on this list... hence the HM. Also, most of the duos here tended to be more even (ACDC was an exception, as it was a lead / rhythm).
WatchMojo.com
I see, thanks for the awesome response!
+Scamperface True
+Scamperface They wern,t together long enough though but good call.
Dave Murray and Adrian Smith easily beat them
Unfortunately, when you mentioned Gary Rossington & Allan Collins - you showed Stephen Gaines & Allan Collins, along with Leon Wilkenson.
💯💯💯💯
Lynyrd Skynyrd should have been # 1 hand's down!!!
Alan Collins and Steve Gaines
You should do a metal list for this. A great modern day suggestion would be Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu of Trivium. Or Zacky Vengeance and and Sinister Gates.
Andy Powell and Ted Turner from Wishbone Ash.
Powell and Turner would have been my pick for number one
@@miketolbert94 Definitely! Especially since they were the originals to use harmonizing lead guitars!!
Argus arguably the finest rock n roll record ever made.
BINGO! Two of the first, and still two of the best
@@stevebirchall35 Yes sir. 47 years later it's still a kick ass record. The Remastered CD version with the live cuts makes the album even a little bit better.
Aww, Sammy Hagar and EVH, they only did 5150 as a guitar duo, but they killed it
Sam Totman and Herman Li?
Yes
Thought the same.
For sure
For sure
Definitely!
I'm just happy that slash and izzy were mentioned. 👍👌🎩🎸
Just an opinion: You guys nailed it with the video thumbnail. Keith Richards and Ron Wood are the indisputable rock and roll guitar duo. Food for thought: Ever listen to Blind Faith? Opening track, “Had to Cry Today,” and the second acoustic workout, “Can’t Find My Way Home,” puts Eric Clapton (Guitar: Left Channel) and Steve Winwood (Guitar: Right Channel) a close second. Again, my opinion.
No John Lennon and George Harrison 😁
Never make a watch mojo guitarist list,McCartney and Ringo both made bass and drum lists tho
+George Aldridge Paul is an excellent bass player
+Ben Lauter I know
+William Guile fuck u. the Beatles r amazing
+Mason Taylor a list without lennon/harrison is non sense, those guys not only made full use of having two guitar players in a rock band, which was pretty much unheard of at the time, but they made the electric guitar popular again, if rock bands today use electric guitars, they can thank the beatles
The top 3 should have been KK Downing/Glenn Tipton, Joe Perry/Brad Whitford, Adrian Smith/Dave Murray. No way is Metallica above all those.
Here’s to save time. (Forgive me if I spell wrong)
10. Duane Allman and Dickey Betts
9. Pete Willis, Phil Collen and Steve Clark, Vivian Campbell
8. Joe Walsh and Don Felder
7. Stone Goddard and Mike McCready
6. Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King
5. Angus and Malcom Young
4. Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing
3. Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood
2. James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett
1. Dave Murray and Adrian Smith
Honorable mentions:
-Slash and Izzy Stradlin
-Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson
-Joe Perry and Brad Whitford
-Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman
-Nick Valenci and Albert Hammond J.R.
-Eric Clapton and Duane Allman
I'm surprised you didn't include John Lennon and George Harrison
Beatles is a Pop band
Jorge Sequera They had some pop songs but I think overall they’re a rock band
Nope, they weren't guitar gods like the others on this list. George is a good guitarist, but in a duo form, not even close.
Honestly when I saw Metallica at no.2 I thought it would be them at no.1 I didn’t think they would put maiden at 1
john frusciante and omar rodriguez lopez :)
:)
+estebanrueda1 Glad to see SOMEONE has heard of MARS VOLTA!!!!!!
+Scott Wetzel At The Drive-In >>>> The Mars Volta
+nmlss Beg to differ. Can't stand the vocal style of At The Drive-In. Musicianship is obviously great in both bands, but I also very much prefer Progressive Rock over Punk.
R0DisG0D I love prog rock bangs, but The Mars Volta are a bit too boring for me. They make their songs unnecessarily long and add pretty much nothing.
Nothing compares to the guitar threesome of Maiden. Adrian takes a break. Says he wants to come back. Maiden is like, yeah but we already got two guitarists, and Janick is good. Screw it, let's make it three. Best decision they ever made.
If you like trios, it is a different style, but Molly Hatchett knows how the use three guitars.
"If there's a tighter thrash band out their we can't find them"
Watchmojo straight up trolling Megadeth fans he he
+DR. Destructive Megadeth was only formed because Dave was kicked out. :)
megadeth, voivod, coroner, Metal Church, exodus, testament, vektor, slayer and razor would like a talk with Watchmojo.
edit: oops, didnt know they said duo.
Seriously, Collins and Rossington from Skynyrd don't even get an honorable mention?
Ikr I am starting to hate mojo
Actually this list kinda make more sense than many other shitlists they fart...
They we're on there and yes to Skynyrd the guitar slayers!!
sad :(
1:36
John Lennon and George Harrison didn't play guitar?
Sue Rarick rock guitar?
Sue Rarick if George had to ask Eric Clapton to play his solos, I would not want to include George on this list
I love the Beatles but come on. If we were discussing songwriting that'd be different but none of them were master musicians, nor did they claim to be.
No dude! How messed up can you be? They're both auxiliary percussionists.
@@famouslastwords0791HR Ringo is considered a shit drummer. Just because he's in a great band, doesn't mean they're the best in a technical sense with instrumentation. Vice versa, Dream Theater has some of the best musicians in the technical aspect, but they're not the most innovative band in terms of production or songwriting. Beach Boys had one of the best producers ever, but that doesn't mean they kick ass at guitar, bass, drums, or piano.
Welcome to the top 2 problems on this list:
Nr.2 Allman/Betts is waay too low;
Nr.1 No mention of Peter Green/Danny Kirwan.
mojo probably doesn't know there was a Fleetwood Mac before 1975, so there's no way they would know Peter, Danny or Jeremy for that matter.
Gates & Vengeance, Collins & Rossington
Chris DeGarmo and Michael Wilton, I don’t have a damn clue why they weren’t included
Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo should've been at least an honorable mention :/
Tom Velraine and Richard Lloyd from Television needs to be here.
Marquee Moon is a masterpiece and those 2 made it possible
joey russ you’re right. Just like Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter with Alice Cooper and Lou Reed!!!
came here to see dave and adrian at number one
im not disappointed
People that never heard of Wishbone Ash should never comment on guitar duos.
U r absolutely right my friend. It is one of the bands that pioneered twin guitars. Look at argus
@@anda6963 I have three more duos. Steve Hacket and Steve Howe in gtr. Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin in Birds of Fire. And Jeff Beck and Jimmie Page in Yardbirds.
@@anda6963 you are 100% correct once you have seen Andy Powell & Ted Turner live Wishbone Ash you should just keep you pie hole shut and listen. That entire band was pretty amazing.
They are maidens inspiration
I was hoping they would make it. They were really early on the twin wailing guitars, and damn talented.
Wishbone Ash aren't going to be on that list, are they?
They deserve to be. Without them, there would be no twin lead guitar.
They should be since they were first and both Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy said it was Wishbone that inspired them to the twin guitar style
NaHeastOida one of the best duos
First twin lead band ever formed in 1969 and Argos their best album is still absolutely brilliant today.
Phil Collen and Steve Clark/Vivian Campbell
Gary Rossington and Allen Collins should be in the top 3
It was really more Allen Collins and Ed King, or Allen Collins and Steve Gaines, Rossington was mainly the rhythm guitarist
They should be #1
chrisjaybecker Not even close to being true. The leads were pretty evenly split up. And Rossington
plays a mean slide guitar.
Gary was a pretty good slide player
At least on the list. Also George Harrison and John Lennon.
Maiden can't be first... They are 3 !!!
😆😆
Up the Irons!
3 guitars in the band. But only one duo, and that's Dave & Adrian ;)
@Dafyd 'The Riffmeisiter' Maddz I feel the same way man. Im such a fan of this band, but I just cannot get into Janick being in Maiden. I'd much rather have just the classic guitar attack with Dave and Adrian. I don't like Janick's guitar playing style, and his stage antics belong in a hair metal band...
@Dafyd 'The Riffmeisiter' Maddz Yeah exactly. He just isn't good enough on the guitar. He has written a couple og decent songs (especiallu The Talisman) but he often just write the most basic parts og Steve's compositions, to be honest. He seems like a great guy, but he is a stain on a perfect carpet, sadly.
"Johnny Winter // Rick Derringer"
Check out // Johnny Winter And & Johnny Winter And Live
EDIT // Can WE ALL AGREE , this TOP 10 shoulda' been TOP 20 , @ least !!
Paul Stanley and Ace Frehley???
Yes thin lizzy underrated for guitar wprk. If you are going to include such as def leopard with multiple lineups adding up to 1 'duo' then the allman bros are far and away # 1. Duane, Dickie, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks are all on Rolling Stone's Top 100 Guitarists list.
Even just the duo of Clark and Collen is enough to make the list imo for Def Leppard
They’re at LEAST top 3
Boo ....Eric Clapton and Duane Allman wrote music history with iconic and incredible battling and harmonizing leads
Thadmotor1044 they only played on one record,, should not be Evan an honorable mention! Michael Wilton & Chris Degarmo should be in....Pearl Jam ...NO WAY!
Good Lord, WHAT is the big deal about Clapton? Don't like Southern anything so never listened to Allman, but Clapton is probably one of the most boring, players ever to live. I've never understood how anyone could listen to him on purpose.
Do a top 10 rythm sections with: flea-chad, john paul jones-john bonham, and more.
Jim Root and Mick Thomson?
Angus and Malcolm Young should be no.1 with Iron Maiden duo at no.2
Keith Richards and Ron Wood are great together. But nothing can compare to Keith and Mick Taylor. The best combination of pure rhythm and lead guitar. Taylor's rich and melodic works and a vibrato that is unmatched in rock music and Richard's raw and driving swagger created the great synergy that catapulted the Stones to the Greatest Rock n Roll band of all time.
No Jonny Greenwood and Ed O'Brien?
Mick Taylor and Keith Richards was better than Ronnie and Keith
Mick Taylor was a great lead guitarist and worked well with Keith's rhythm playing. Ronnie and Keith are too much alike in their approach to the guitar.
Definitely
2
kimario ballantyne YESSSSSS
Lennon and Harrison from The Beatles
Peter Green and Danny Kirwan
May be the best duo of all time.
Yessss
Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner from Alice Cooper and Lou Reed's Rock and Roll Animal. So in sync they went from band to band as a unit.
I saw the Welcome to my Nightmare Show in Boston FRONT ROW the intro to the Black Widow is still the best guitar I've heard from a duo
Why aren't Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir on the list?!
