  • Deep drainage with Semi - Auto MC1…
Ok, this isn’t that deep… but we haven’t got a trench box and the sand wouldn’t hold up if we went any deeper… but let’s imagine this is 3 - 4m deep with groundwater seeping in and the sump pump trying to keep up…
We use the semi-auto feature in a similar way to the auto feature on a dozer - where we carry out most of the work manually, then switch to auto for the last few, crucial passes.
In this demonstration we have created a simple baseline model with a 6% slope, we start pulling downhill then spin around to pull uphill.
Most of the trench is excavated as usual, then as we approach grade we hit ‘auto’ and just pull the stick lever.
The system takes over the movement of the boom/stick/bucket and holds it to grade. Then, when we want to add material like pipe bedding, we can just alter the vertical offset and follow the same process - again, like bringing in construction/compaction layers with a dozer.
The solid ‘beep’ tone as we pull is letting us know we are on grade - some find it annoying and turn it off… but it makes me smile! 👌🏻

Awesome video! Just for clarification, you could run the stick back faster than that in a real world situation correct?
