He used to be quite poor when he first joined BTS, he used to have three jobs in their trainee days. One of jobs was delivery driver etc. he got hit by a car while delivering and injured his shoulder quite severely. He didn’t tell the company or BTS because he feared it might give him a disadvantage or he might not make the final cut. He kept dancing with a broken shoulder for years, it got to a point where he couldn’t pick up a spoon. He finally got shoulder surgery in 2020 during lockdown. He’s feeling much better now

He told the conpany when it got unbearable. The company didn’t know he had to work to pay his tuition, when they got to know avout his injury, they prepared for his treatment and paid both his treatment and tuition fees.

Thanks for checking out Agust D and for turning on the captions for subtitles because his lyrics get deep. His album just came out called "D-Day" and I'm glad you guys kept an open mind, he uses a mix on English like on the chorus but also for word play. His title track is fire it's called "Haegum" the words meaning is two fold it's the name of a traditional korean instrument that he uses throughout the song (he was the sole producer on the song) and it means a lifting of a ban. This mv is part of a trilogy: Daechwita, Haegum, and Amygdala. Agust D is the soloist persona of Suga of BTS. He was an underground rapper before he joined the group like his fellow bandmate RM (who put out an album not long ago called Indigo that featured artist like Eyrkah Badu, Anderson Paak and more). I think people get the wrong end of the stick about BTS they hear the label K-pop and hear their English pop songs and think that's what they are about. Their roots are in hip hop and they do tons of genres, they have some songs that can go hard especially the rapline of the group like "Tear" and "Ugh" or Suga's song "Shadow". The third rapper in the group is J-Hope he just had a song with J.Cole as a feature (he's been a huge fan of J.Cole for a long time) called "On the Street" but check out his song "Arson" from his album "Jack in the Box". Agust D aka Suga is on tour in the US right now his next show is in Chicago, lots of clips floating around tik tok and twitter of his concerts right now.

Guys, if you like this, see the first two songs in this Trilogy, Daechwita (means procession of the king, with traditional instruments) and Hageum from Agust D recent album. You’ll be blown away by his rap skills. There is a Daechwita Explaination video (DKDKTV) if you are interested in history and meaning. Shout out if you are also from Chicago.

A little context he showed in the Mv he simulated the accident he had in 2012 before debuting, he suffered from very strong pain in his shoulder since then, and as he is from a group with a lot of dancing the situation only got worse, he said he had no choice and needed to have surgery as he couldn't even lift a water bottle because of the pain, so only in 2020 did Agust D have surgery to take care of it for good. - Company statement: “As many fans know, SUGA (AgustD) has been suffering from shoulder related issues for a while now. Troubles began when he was injured in an accident in 2012, prior to his debut, and he was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder in 2013. The shoulder pain continued until he was again diagnosed in 2019 with 'posterior labral tear' left shoulder', which means that the cartilage around the left shoulder joint has been torn. Since then, he has continued to receive various treatments to prevent the injury from affecting his activities.”

I enjoyed your respectful and knowledgeable reaction. Agust D is a fantastic storyteller, I loved that you paid close attention to the lyrics. If you want to see something completely different from him, watch his 2020 Daechwita, or his 2023 Haegeum. All three songs actually go together as a storyline.

Thank you for the positive feedback. SUGA aka AGUST D is a musical genius, he's a member of the group BTS. Amygdala is song of his album "D-Day". the song narrates all the hardships he went through which made him the person he is today ( also both of his parents are alive). I'd love to see you react to more of his music or BTS.
For AGUST D I'd suggest: Daechwita
Or Haegum. For BTS I'd suggest: Mic drop, Black Swan, Fake love...

This song shows a lot of vulnerability from suga. It shows the darkness that he went through in his past and his willingness to let us see it. His lyrics are always very raw. He has always been open in his lyrics about his past battles with his depression and mental health. He is a lyrical genius, and a force to be reckoned with.

Agust D sings, raps like a god, writes and produces most of his stuff, and is not shy about telling his personal life story. Agust D is his solo name, but as Suga, he is one of 3 rappers in BTS (along with 4 vocalists). They are all doing solo stuff before they have to do their mandatory military service. They will re-form as BTS in 2025.

You guys gave attention to everything important, the music, his rapping, his lyrics and how the MV was a great representation of what the artist wanted to present in their music. I have watched many reactors but I appreciated what you guys did here. As a fan of Suga aka Agust D, I'm just glad more people are taking the time to check his music because I support his art and the change he wants to bring to the industry. I hope this song inspired you guys to check more of his music. Amygdala is very emotional but he also has other facets that can facinate you. Anyways. I'm glad I watched your video. Thanks for this reaction. :)
Agust D aka Suga is one of the seven members of BTS.
BTS is a South Korean boy band consisting of three rappers and four vocalists. And all seven of them are excellent dancers.
They do a wide variety of music, but basically they are rooted in hip-hop.
All seven members are participating in making their songs by writing, composing, and producing them.
BTS started with a small company that almost went bankrupt, so they have been very looked down and hated by Korean broadcasting stations and other K-pop fandom. So they have struggled from the beginning to prove themselves.
This MV is the third part of a trilogy of music videos, 1st one is "Daechwita", then "Haegeum", the next is "AMYGDALA". Watching these music videos in order will help you understand. :)
Suga injured his shoulder when he was in a car accident while working as a delivery boy to pay for school during his trainee days. He was also suffering from depression, interpersonal avoidance and social anxiety at the time.
And even though he suffered from severe aftereffects, he had been dancing and singing for eight years while enduring only temporary treatment due to the desperate situation.
He only had shoulder surgery in 2020, but he still hasn't fully recovered.
The trilogy represents the process of Suga facing his trauma head-on and being freed from it.
I suggest that you listen to all the 10 songs from his new album, D-Day, in order. As BTS' music has always been, their solo albums are also organic, so it'll be fun to analyze. 😉
Suga introduced his new album, D-Day, on Palette, a talk show hosted by IU, a Korean female solo artist who collaborated with him on People pt.2, and on the Disney+ channel's SUGA: Road to D-DAY.
    [IU's Palette🎨] IU X SUGA Palette (With SUGA) Ep.19
    th-cam.com/video/OP9I2w7UMDc/w-d-xo.html
And if you're interested in what kind of person he is, I recommend every episode of the talk show he hosts, Suchwita (meaning time to get drunk with Suga).
Especially, I highly recommend the recently aired EP.9, in which RM, the leader of BTS, hosts instead of Suga, and Suga attended as a guest to promote his album. :)
[슈취타] EP.9 RM with Agust D
    th-cam.com/video/YXr6-vXzSrI/w-d-xo.html
He's on a world tour now, and they're all sold out. Here I would highly recommend his live clips.

BTS has been in the group for about 10 years, but last year, they announced that each of the seven members will work on a solo project while completing mandatory 18-month military service in Korea.
After releasing a collaboration single with Coldplay, Jin, the oldest member, already enlisted about 4 months ago and is serving under Korean law.
And J-Hope recently joined the military after releasing his solo album Jack In The Box and collaborating with J.Cole.
BTS members have been through so much for about 13 years since they were trainees, and now all seven of them are family.
Other five BTS members will also serve in the military and will be reunited in 2025. So they are briefly stopping their eight-year group works and focusing on their solo work.
Jimin also released a solo album, FACE, and the promotion ended recently.
After releasing INDIGO, RM is preparing for his second album ahead of his military enlistment.
Jungkook, the main vocalist, has been working on a solo album since he sang the opening song "Dreamers" at the opening ceremony of the Qatar World Cup.
And V is also preparing a solo album while appearing on a variety show.
If you're interested in BTS' songs, I think it would be good to follow a story line.
DNA: Joy of fateful love → Fake Love: Realizing that love was a lie → IDOL, The Truth Untold, Epiphany, Answer Love Myself: To love other people completely, you should love yourself first.
These are included in Love Yourself Trilogy.
Personally, I think Mic Drop or Run BTS, or Black Swan would be good too. :)
The lyrics of BTS' songs are based on their own experiences, and their albums are organic because they contain their growth narrative.
It'll also be fun to listen to their albums in order and analyze them. :)

Yes it is partially English. But. I sympathise with what you said about not realising that it was another language because that was my experience too when I first heard some of their songs. Their music really made me a believer of the universal power of music as a language of stories.
Note the almonds. The amygdala is the size and shape of an almond and there is a Korean book by the same name written by an neurodivergent author whose amygdala doesn’t function in a normal way.

Suga did a collaboration with Juice WRLD Girl of my dreams.
J-Hope also have a collaboration with JCole, ON the street.
RM collaborate with Anderson Paak, Still live. Lil Nas X, Old Town road (Seoul Town Road Remix). Erykah Badu, Yun. Wale, Change. Fall out boy Ft. RM, Champion . Warren G, P.D.D.
Also RM and Suga have a collaboration with Juice WRLD, All Night.
And the vocal line (Jin, Jimin, Tae-hyung and Jung-kook) have a collaboration with Benny Blanco and Snoop Dog, Bad intentions.
This are only some of the collaborations songs they have, if you guys are interested on BTS or any of the members 's songs just let us know and we will keep on recommending.

Amygdala is the part of your brain that assists you in dealing with trauma, most of the time by repressing those tragic memories. The amygdala will often times bring repressive memories out so that you can attempt to deal with them, thus begin to heal from them and sometimes you have to force them out yourself when you finally admit you need to deal with the trauma so you can be free from your inner self/what your mind keeps telling you.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. All the Korean music i have heard in the last 4 yrs have mixed Eng and Korean together. It's a normal thing. It sounds great to me. Love it. BTS have japanese songs too. Hope u check those out.
Such a good song. Pls pause as much as u want. I love hearing your thoughts. This is my fav song from his album. My 2nd fav is Snooze. I love all the songs though. But these for some reason made me feel more. When i heard this for the 1st time i smiled. This MV speaks his truth. I am glad Suga talked about it more. I think the more u speak about it the easier it gets as the years pass. I am sorry he went through so much. I am sad he did not reach the door. I think this song is tricky. I think the MV enhanced the song a lot for me. Good visuals. Loved the feels. I am an empath so i take it in. Suga was sharing his trauma, his painful memories right. I was not aware his mom had heart surgery or that his dad battled cancer. I wonder if his bike accident occured in the same year as everything else. We know Suga survived it was a miracle. Yoongi dealt with so much pain for so long. We were all so glad he finally had the shoulder surgery. They are so strong all of them. They are our strength and we theirs. I was finally able to cry for him at last watching another reactor. My therapist said I am not afraid of death. I faced my death already dealing with cancer. So his truth was not that shocking to me. But still I wanted to cry for him because he can't. Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army 💟

People with PTSD have the same issues with their amygdala. Not being able to process emotion and trauma properly. People who suffer with PTSD in multiple forms would understand this mv straight off. Its the whole process of nightmares vs flashbacks. Flashbacks being more of a process for PTSD sufferers. I have Complex PTSD and hyperviligence so i understand this mv with all its little nuances. I respect Yoongi so much that hes been able to be so open with these issues.
    Alix DriftwoodDragons said on 4/25/23
I think the trilogy is about slowly recovering from trauma... the Amydala MV explains the key to understanding the other two MVs, in that it shows that the scar is a mark of a character that is acting on their trauma - Yoongi has been slowly healing over the years. In Daechwita (D-2), he replaced "blond Agust D" from the first mixtape (he was blond for the MVs he released in 2016), who was a king who ruled out of anger... in Haegeum, a new Yoongi who DOESN'T have a scar, he's healed from his trauma - or at least has learned how to have it not continue to hurt him any more by self-inflicting wounds in response to it - and Haegeum Yoongi replaces D-2 Yoongi whose scar is old but still there, and is ruling in a civil manner but perhaps too caught up in the flexing aspect (the fancy suit, the slick image). I think Haegeum is the end on a note of Yoongi being free, and living the way he wants. Amygdala is needed to explain that key though - what Yoongi had to go through mentally to get to that point.
The fact that he's sharing this with us, to me, means that he's reached a healthy place where he feels strong and recovered enough to share the story. Even if he can't put a firm happy ending on it, because you can't do that with mental struggles - in the latest episode of Suchwita, he even tells RM that he gets low every 2-3 years, but has learned how to handle it better as time has passed, and now RM thinks he's the most positive person on the team. Really, Yoongi is absolutely amazing. I love him so much and he deserves all the hugs in the world.

Everything he mentioned in this his depression, anxiety, ocd, social phobia, pain killers, car accident, pain for years cuz he had to hide the accident and couldn’t get medical help, self harm the scar, suicide attempt and his parents health is what he actually went through in his past. I’m so glad he’s still with us today and doing much better now physically and mentally. Thank you Yoongi for releasing this song.

Thank you for sharing your impressions and thoughts on not only Min Yoongi the artist, but on the story he shares in this project. He writes about what happened to him in his late teens. He wanted to make music, and was worried he might not make it a career. But he knew he needed to follow the music in his heart... Way deep into his soul. The Amygdala is the almond shaped part of the brain that holds memories, pain, trauma. This piece is about how he wished he could get out and not have those painful memories anymore. He's in a very calm and stable mind space now, having written about and produced all the music he wanted to share about those times in his life. It will be very interesting to see what he creates next, since the Agust D trilogy is complete.

August-D aka Suga aka Min Yoongi is a genius when it comes to music all his solo songs are great and have a story to tell, they tell the story of his life of what he went through, what he felt experienced etc, that's why people love his music and the person behind it. And if you enjoy his music you should lessen to the song "The Last" it's really a song that goes deep and personally my favorite song maybe because I can relate to it, but anyone would love it regardless if they relate or not cause he shows his raw soul without artifices in it and that has no price

Since I haven’t seen a lot of people say this I’ll say the proper order this trilogy goes in is ”daechwita”, haegeum”, and this song being the last. I highly suggest looking up the meanings of the titles of the first two songs tho because they’re Korean words which I’m sure you don’t know by heart. It adds so much more meaning to the song and the lyrics if you know what the title means (for haegeum and amygdala they both have two or three meanings as well). Suga (agust d) is known for his raw and honest lyrics but this song is by far the deepest and most transparent he’s ever been so you can imagine how hard it hit us when he first released his not long ago (oh also he’s suggested people watch and listen to all the MVs in one sitting to completely grasp the storyline😙👌🏾)

His accident was much worse than pictured. They basically gave you the PG version for the video.
It was raining and in the pre-dawn and he was hit by a delivery truck and drug under it for a ways before it stopped. He blacked out and woke up with his face pressed against tire.
He was definitely traumatized by the near death experience, and it was made worse for him by feeling like he had to lie about it and keep it a secret. He wasn’t supposed to be working the extra jobs even, and the record label didn’t know he was doing it in secret before school in the mornings.
He told them he just fell on some stairs and did not reveal the extent of his injuries for 7 years.

He’s my favorite but I love them all! Suga is showing you inside his mind. That’s where Agust D was born and as you see he makes a scar on his eye with the blade. You see him in Daechwita with that scar he survived voicing through Agust D and being open with his struggles. He discussed a lot about his mental health. Now he’s mentally in a better place. He even discussed how he almost committed suicide in the past but Jin stopped him. That’s real brotherhood ! I’m new to you guys and it really makes me happy to see people discovering them 💜💜💜 Armmmyyy!!!

amygdala, (a-mig-delah) region of the brain primarily associated with emotional processes. The name amygdala is derived from the Greek word amygdale, meaning “almond,” owing to the structure's almondlike shape. The amygdala is located in the medial temporal lobe, just anterior to (in front of) the hippocampus.

It makes me so sad to know how much psychical pain he was in after that accident, and how necessary pain relief was to get through.
It happened before they even debuted and he went hard in all the choreography of his group for seven years before finally getting surgery to correct it. All that time he never complained.

Greetings from Australia.... I'm not sure how much you know about Min YoonGi/Suga/AugstD....but as you liked his MV then the following info might be of interest to you.
Suga/Agust D began writing music lyrics and working with MIDI at age 11 (against his parents wishes) and held a part-time job composing and arranging music at a recording studio at age 16.
Active under the name "Gloss" (wordplay on his given name YoonGi, which means "to shine") as an underground rapper, He originally entered Big Hit Entertainment as a producer at age 17
Between his commitments as a member of BTS, Suga/Agust D took advantage of time on the plane and in hotel rooms after concerts to continuously produce and compose music.
In an interview for Grazia Korea, Suga/Agust D expressed a desire to release the music he wanted to do without having to consider popular appeal or music ranking. He intended to release his music for free in the form of a mixtape to avoid such considerations, commenting that an album "has a feeling of being trapped in some sort of framework" due to the need for company involvement in promotion and advertising.
Developing Agust D musically on the base of hip hop, much of Agust D's inspiration for the lyrics came from his own stories of dream, youth, and reality. In order to differentiate his work from that of his work as Suga, he developed the alter ego "Agust D".
Suga is a extremely respected producer, not only is he a main producer for BTS but has won awards for other artists as well.
Hope you have a great day💜 and PLEASE REACT TO MORE SUGA/AGUSTD AND BTS.

This song is actually about his real life struggles, which caused him to contemplate suicide. The message is to tell people to be strong and fight to pull yourself up. We see the finished product of the BTS but they struggled to get where they are.
    Thanks for your solid review.

"you'll like bts music if you listen without prejudice"- Agustd/Suga
If you play bts song to random people without knowing it's bts music, they always love it but once they know it's bts. "That boyband?!" "That kpop group?" Then automatically label it as pop song even it's a song full of rap.
Agustd/Suga is a member, songwriter and producer of bts, he also writes and produce for his own album. Thankyou for being respectful and being honest.

    Hi guys,
Amygdala is actually the last part of his trilogy that begins with Daechwita --->Haegeum to Amygdala. This trilogy explains the reason for the existence of his alter-ego AGUST D, who is 1/7th of the group BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan or Bulletproof Boyscouts).
They debut in June 2013 - the youngest was 15yrs - the oldest 21yrs old. BTS has 3 rappers (2 were underground rappers @ 13yrs old & 1 was an underground dancer, who learnt to rap with his other 2 members) & 4 vocalists, who cover a wide range of genres and this is their 10th year. They have a discography of over 300 songs/raps ec. and they lived, ate, slept, trained, danced, sang, rapped, composed & produced their music together, while attending middle-high school.
If you don't know them it's likely bcoz they rarely get any air/radio play, they are undermined and underrated by media, music award shows, music platforms etc in the US bcoz of tendencies they have towards fear, racism and xenophobia- also to the desire to maintain their belief that only an Eng or US band can be top. That's why they are not happy BTS will not participate in payola and are beyond their control due to the massive fanbase BTS have. Just thought you might want to know 😂😂

That was the accident that in the track he refers to as 'my accident that I couldn't even mention' he had it while doing a part time delivery job and damaged his shoulder before his debut with BTS. He even covered it up with a lie that he fell down stairs'. He was in pain for years taking medication for the pain. He finally had it operated on when Covid happened about 8 years later. The other 2 incidents his mother's heart operation and his father's liver cancer he got call while working eg on tour preparing for tour and the line 'The call I got at about Dad's Liver Cancer' thankfully both both his mother and father recovered. So this is all very personal and real things that played on his mind a lot.
Amygdala is the almond shape bit in the brain that deal with truma, fear etc etc.

Very much liked this reaction, please feel free to check out some more of his stuff. And not sure if you are just into rap, or what, but Agust D, is also Suga from BTS, and they have a rap line, that are are incredible rappers. If you want to hear another awesome song that just released this year one of his band mates named jhope did a eong with
    J. Cole. It is called "On the Street", by jhope with J. Cole. I think you might really like it. See jhope started as a street dancer and was even in a street dance crew, he learned how to rap later, and thats a long story, but for now just know that "on the street," is about him going back to his roots, amd where his passion for music really started, which includes J. Cole. Because he has stated many times that J. Cole was like his idol, or muse. So this song is very special. And there are other meanings, but we can help you understand those later if you are interested. If not no big deal just thought you might enjoy it. But remember to turn on the captions, lol. Thanks again.💜💜💜

If you liked this, you should do the trilogy- Daechwita (2020), Haegum (a couple weeks ago) and Amygdala (most recent). He also has an introduction, self-titled song Agust-D that’s a banger. He released that 8(?) years ago to introduce us to his solo alt-Persona (to separate it from his work with BTS, who also have some fantastic rap songs, the biggest hit being Mic Drop with Steve Aoki, if you want to see his group work.
A lot of K-music uses some English phrases to help international fans understand the song a bit without looking up the lyric translations. Some good it more than others. Agust-D’s groupmate RM throws in more English than most, since he’s fluent (Agust-D is not but he’s been studying hard).
