Wow, I got out my broad edged pen and followed right along thru the whole piece. Amazing! I'm so proud of myself. Thank you so much for posting. I love calligraphy!
This was so clean ! My god ! Perfect layout ! Love the letters ! Precise strokes, everything is so neat ! The only thing I don't like is that ornament at the end, but that's just a matter of taste ... Keep it up, this is all inspiration for a padawan like me !
Exquisite! So happy to have found your channel. Your hand is amazing and I appreciate the videos.
Gorgeous handiwork! Very inspiring. I'm going to flex my own calligraphic chops and reproduce this alphabet with my own pens on fine vellum, and keep it safe to include in our local rodeo and fair's art show next July.
Beautiful!
Anyone can draw a pretty letter in isolation. But to do it with such precision and symmetry is an art.
Always love your work. Thanks for sharing this, you are really great inspiration for me
Just love this piece. Amazing art work. Wish mine could have been this good.
Awesome work!
***** It would be amazing if you made some sort of a tutorial video on ways to manipulate the pen and how you do some of your lettering. I've watched all of your videos over the last 2 days and its because of you I just ordered a Parallel Pen. I can't wait to receive it and it would be awesome if I had a video to go along with. Great penmanship. Keep going at it 👍
Thanks. I do have plans to make some sort of tutorial videos. Your suggestion being one of them. :)
***** Hi Lovely video. Can u suggest an ink as an alternative to using cartridges I heard any ink can be used but just to be safe what ink would u recommend plz reply.! Ohh & how did u come up with the name Uvulus it sounds kind of Med evil but good.!
Jenna Kenna Most fountain pen inks will work well with these pens. Pigmented inks work too but they tend to write a lot dryer and are generally harder to work with. Stay away from iron gall inks as they may damage the nib.
My full name is actually Uvulus the Dangler. :) I wanted it to have a bit of a medieval feel. Also I liked the wordplay.
Uvulus yeah when i first saw your name it made me think of the uvula that hangs in the back of our throat that causes us to gag when fucked with. jaja weird way to explain, i know... but makes sense so fuck it! sick vid mang
absolutely amazing! Each stroke that you write soothes my eyes and soul!
***** Do you teach your methods as well? If so what is the rate of your classes?
Ali Seiffouri
I don't have any classes available. I may do some TH-cam tutorials in the future though.
@Uvulus, I second ItzMeMagick in saying that you should do a tutorial showing this font and how to use the Pilot Parallel and miniopulate it to create the same script your using here. I would love to learn it. I have held back on getting a Pilot Parallel because I have not found a really good tutorial on how to fully use the Parallel as to be able to create this and other scripts. I would love also to get in to Fraktur and add a different scrip to my hand away from the oblique pointed pen to broad edge and then move in to making Illuminated Manuscripts.
Uvulus, your work is amazing and this font is just what I have been looking for. Do you do any customer work? I would like to get just one word done in this style...
Nice lettering!
Good job
Cool
been Watchin' your vids, picked up a few pens, got em today, (I do tattoos for a living, and can't wait to do lettering originals),......thanks for sharing,.......
+Uvulus if you got time I got sped up art vids, on my channel, (got them already, I'm 'kinda' struggling with tapering of to thin outside edges, any hints'?),........
nice
i use a dip pen with a C nib for this style but maannn... those slight constant twist hurt my wrist so fast :/
Wow! So beautiful. I'm used to brush and nib calligraphy. I think I should give parallel pen a try. Can I use this alphabet for practice?
took me like 5 minutes to realize you were writing the alphabet...
looks amazing though
no i'm just slow and not familiar with calligraphy at all. just bought my wife this pen :)
@@Uvulus1 It's not just "the alphabet". It's calligraphic art to be admired as much for its art as for it being lettering.
Hi +Uvulus, I'm new in calligraphy and I have recently bought a 3.8mm pilot parallel pen. I'm now using it with red color but the ends of the lines tend to be dark like at the end of the line there is one drop left behind that darkens it. Any suggestions how can I avoid that in the future? By the way amazing art!!!
Could be the ink or the paper or both. Try different papers. The ink that comes with the pens makes a pretty consistent from what I remember so I'm guessing that it may be the paper that you are using. A lot of inks will pool a bit (especially with the larger nibs) as you reach the end of a stroke. This will be less noticeable with darker inks. I like the effect so I don't worry about it much.
Awesome skills ! I don't even know how to start to learn Calligraphy =\
+Moustache07 Thank you. I started by buying a few cheap pens and writing a lot. I've added more pens and brushes over time. A callligraphy book may help to see how many of the alphabets are written but I mostly just used google and studied images to figure it out.
+Uvulus Oh thanks for answer me, i'm gonna buy one of these parallel pen as soon as possible and try to start :}
Keep up with the videos they're very inspiring.
Fantastic! Do you find certain inks flow better than others in these pens? I have all 4 and I love using them to learn calligraphy!
+Hermione Jarvis Yes, different inks can have very different flow characteristics. The Pilot inks that come with the pens are really nice. I like the J. Herbin 1670 inks a lot.
Did you have the construction in mind before hand or you did the strokes especially the swirls by improvisation?
A bit of both. I work out how I want to write the individual letters. I'll try different ways to fit some of the letters together and how they interact with one another ahead of time. There's quite a bit of improvisation in the final piece though. Especially with the flourishes.
hey Uvulus... great calligraphy.
Which type of paper youare using for pilot parallel pens?
Using Canson marker paper in this video. I use Strathmore drawing paper quite a bit as well.
I know this is your unique style, but can you tell me if there are similar fonts like these?. I need some practice :)
I don't know if there are any similar fonts. I would look at blackletter and italic calligraphy. Those are some that I kind of base this on.
i want you to write for my birthday just my name mod pls??
How do you change the ink of the parallel pen?
+Mireah Wong One of my earlier videos shows how I refill the cartridges. th-cam.com/video/7AAicrWnaA0/w-d-xo.html
What paper allows you to write that slow without bleeding??????
I was using Canson mix-media paper. I mostly use Strathmore drawing paper these days.
Beautiful penmanship, what the name of this tune? I love it.
+Alexander Mason Thanks! The music is CGI Snake by Chris Zabriskie. chriszabriskie.com/
+Uvulus Thank you so much. Especially for responding back. Most video creators don't. 😁👍
how do you do this without overthinking?
This is awesome!
+Gee Torres Heh, I don't. A lot of practice beforehand and then telling yourself that the imperfections add character. :) Thanks!
Uvulus I wish I could like this more than once. I'm so horrible about over thinking.
Steven Thorpe I am too. At some point you just have to put it out there and see how it goes. :)
alguien en mexico sabe como se llama ese marker?
o algo parecido
+Bastante Obsesion Es de la marca Pilot modelo Parallel Pen, aquí en Argentina viene en cuatro medidas según el grosor del trazo. Saludos.

what kind of paper did u use?
+Sean Brown Canson and Strathmore drawing papers usually. This was done on Canson Marker paper.
does anyone knows the name of the song?
+Fernando Ashanti Zenteno Arteaga From the description. Music is CGI Snake by Chris Zabriskie. chriszabriskie.com/
What is the font you use?
this is a class of lettering known as blackletter. Its not true blackletter, but anything made with a parallel pen is usually considered blackletter. there are a ton of classes of black letter.
I feel like there is a serif missing on the g, it bothered me the whole video haha. Very nice work though ;-)
+Nik You're right! Didn't even notice until you mentioned it. Now it's bugging me too. ;) Nice catch. And thanks!
then please write the name of my son FLAVIO and date of birth 12/06/2014 thank you
parallel penでそんなにうまくかける?
自分でやったらかすれちゃう。
Uvulus
If I wrote it with Parallel pen, I couldn't write like you. 👍
【This is a translation of the comment which I wrote before. 】
i love your work and i even subscribed but i can not stand the way you are holding the pen. i know, many people do it the same way, but i can not accept it. sorry.
No worries, I'm used to the complaints about how I hold a pen. Thanks for subscribing despite my pen holding weirdness. :)
I'm a calligrapher too but seriously- you're amazing to watch!! I hope you're making money, you deserve it.Your skill level and style are pure creative perfection.
Please keep posting your vids they're inspirational x
Jessica Rabbit Thank you very much.
