Nanowar of Steel is a parody metal band from Rome/Italy. They have been around for 20 years and there are lots of great videos by them on yt. You could watch Norwegian Reggaeton (mainly about black metal musicians from Norway and the things they did) or "And then I noticed that she was a Gargoyle", but there are lots and lots of other great videos out there. Thank you for your reaction, it was fun to watch!
Thank you, I think I'm gonna add Norwegian Reggaeton to next week's poll (but even if it doesn't win, I'd still check it out soon). I'm curious what that one sounds like. 😉
Norwegian Reggaeton was the song, which got Nanowar of Steel a contract with Napalm Records - it's a must watch for this band.
Nanowar of Steel is an Italian metal band from Rome which always writes and plays comic songs, just like this one :) P.s. Norwegian reggaeton is another fun hit XD
I'm gonna add that one to next week's poll - a few people have specifically said that one and I'm curious!
Such a fun band! Other favorite bands that take their music serious but not themselves are Alestorm and Electric Callboy! Loved your reaction btw 😉
Thank you! And yeah, I wanna check out more of them in the future..and more Electric Callboy - they were fun too!
From a Gospel-style opening to the best damn IKEA commercial you’ve ever seen 🤘😂🤘
😂
These guys are so funny you should definitely do more of them. ❤🤘
Also Amon Amarth if you will please 🙏
Thank you! 😊
Nanowar of Steel are musically brilliant and vastly underrated. Their breadth of musical knowledge is kind of astonishing if you dig into it. They bring things together that you wouldn't think would work, and they include a lot of musical "Easter eggs" in their songs. Not everything is going to be to everyone's taste, but a lot of that is because they wander all over the place. They can play *anything*... and usually do.
Heavy but silly, you understood perfectly their spirit. They act a lot like Burt Simpson. In their career they have only one serious song: Pasadena 1994 with SabatoN’s singer Joachim Broden. But I suggest you to watch that video too.
Definitely one of the more traumatising songs
They also have a very moving love song: And Then I Noticed She was a Gargoyle
It‘s actually Angus McSix now! #onebetter
Amazing song lol I always jam to it! You should do Christmas Truce by Sabaton if you havent already!
I enjoyed that one, I'm regretting that I didn't wait until this month to do it though lol.
1:50 Systembolaget is the name of the government alcohol stores in Sweden where selling alcohol is a monopoly of government.
Ooh I see. 😬
welcome to the wonderful world of Nanowar of steel, next stop would be , Uranus fet. Michael Starr from Steel panther , Pasadena 1994 with Joakim Broden from Sabaton, Winterstorm in the night feat Madeleine Liljestam of Elaine, Norwegian reggaeton, And then i noticed she was a gargoyle, or the more recent boyband hit "protocols of love ".
Just a couple of things about the song ,they replaced the hebrew " Shema Israel, Adonai eloheinu Adonai ehad" (more or less listen Israel , the Lord is our God , the Lord is one) to "Shema yggdrasil (the cosmic tree) Odinai eloheinu Odinai Ehad (Odin is our God , Odin is One).
Angus McFive aka Thomas Winkler was the first singer of Gloryhammer. Gloryhammer is a power metal band whose members are superheroes in a fantasy universe and talk about what happens to them there. They are a parody of superheroes and the stories of other power metal bands.
GLORYHAMMER - Hootsforce (Official Video) | Napalm Records
In 2021 they terminated Thomas via email without giving any reasons. Shortly afterwards the band was accused of sexism and racism.
In response, Thomas founded a band with a similar concept to Gloryhammer. Better than the original for me:
ANGUS McSIX - Master Of The Universe (Official Video) | Napalm Records
What is happening?? NanowaR of Steel is happening LOL. As you see, they don't take things seriously, but they can play.
They are a comedic metal band from Italy. Even their name is comedic. Originally called NanowaR, as a play on the band Manowar. Another band, Rhapsody, had to change their name for legal reasons, they chose Rhapsody of Fire. NanowaR changed to NanowaR of Steel to poke fun at them.
The guest is Thomas Winkler, then Angus McFife of Gloryhammer, now Angus McSix in the band of the same name. Tons of Easter eggs in their songs. FOr Example, systembolaget is the government run store in Sweden , the only one that can sell alcohol above 2.3%. Horse meatballs because Ikea Swedish meatballs a while back were found to have some horse meat in them. The IKEA catalog they held up had a Viking Ship on the front, the pictograph for tools needed for assembly had a flat head and Phillips head screwdriver, pencil, shield, battle-axe, and beer. NoS once held a meet and greet in an IKEA store, but didn't tell IKEA, and got kicked out.
YES "Norwegian Reggaeton" is a good one. Also try "Uranus" feat Michael Star of Steel Panther and a newer one "Winterstrom in the Night" feat Madeleine Liljestam of Eleine.
Another great video from this band is "Sober". You will laugh until you cry.
i just love the way that they represent the guitar solo, it was a man... solo on a cliff xd GENIUS!
If you want another fun one, I would recommend Amaranthe - Boom!1 - Hammerfall is a power metal band I like them they mostly sing about knights and related things. Also fun is the guest singers 'former band gloryhammer which is also a fun/parody band.
A few side notes here. Systembolaget is a state-owned chain of stores here in Sweden and the only one where you can buy alcoholic drinks at. Both Amon Amarth (melodic death metal with a heavy inspiration of the Viking era) and Hammerfall (heavy/power metal) are Swedish metal bands.
The guy in the green armor is Thomas Winkler (aka Angus McFife as he was called when he was the singer of Gloryhammer during the time this was filmed) He currently has his own band called Angus McSIX
Please don't get me wrong, honest question: you said at 3:17 "Even if it's a parody - it's still fun"; how bad must the parodies you normally watch or listen to be? The standard seems to be quite low if you are positively surprised by this. My tip: listen to more European music - including humorous music - the standard is quite high in this genre.
Greetings from Germany.
Well, I'm not sure how to explain exactly. 🤔 Maybe (aside from a few bands/exceptions) I think if a song is "silly" it's not really meant to be taken seriously as a "great" song. But of course there are people.. like Weird Al for example, where his whole career is known around parodies - so I expect it in those cases. When I'm coming into a new band, I don't know if it's an actual band where that is their whole schtick or if it's just one silly song that someone happened to make. Not to say they're not good or talented, though - I don't mean that at all!
Maybe I'm more cautious because growing up as a teen, I was very into a group called 2Ge+her which was a parody group..and I just thought for the longest time they were an actual group and then I felt silly when I found out they weren't. 😂 For some reason I felt like I shouldn't have liked them as much as I did..even though we can't really help these things. 😜
@@nikkireviews Firstly, thanks for the answer!
I just found it interesting because I've heard this sentence or something similar in many reactions to good, albeit funny, music.
I myself grew up with the German-singing bands J.B.O., Die Toten Hosen, die ärzte and EAV; for me, humour and good music go hand in hand.
Hence my suggestion: listen to more of this kind of music :)
Please, react "Barbie milf princess of the twilight".
I'll add it to the list, thank you!
All fun and games until you have assemble IKEA furniture!
I've forgotten how fun Nanowar (of Steel) is, lol
Most of their songs are great. They're a pure parody band from a lyrics perspective, but the music is always solid.
Some good songs: Norwegian Reggaeton, Ironmonger, Disco Metal, And then I noticed She was a Gargoyle, Pasadena 1994
Make sure to always watch their songs with subtitles.
Heavy Metal Kibbles, Armpits of immortal, Uranus, Barbie Milf Princess of the twilight...
You definitely need to watch their songs Barbie, MILF Princess of the Twilight, Uranus and And Then I Noticed She Was a Gargoyle. They are all great songs and hilarious.
Thank you, I will add those to the list!
Try Lyric Noel singing "Carole of the Bells" This Metal artist is from Texas USA. Her transitions from melodic, grit and growl vocals are butter smooth. For the perfect Metal Christmas playlist.
This song was originally a Ukrainian Folk song before it became a popular Christmas Carol.
Tarja (originally from Nightwish) dropped an entire Gothic-Operatic Dark Christmas Album a few weeks ago.
🥰🥰🥰🇨🇦
LOL. Everyone should experience this song at least once in their lives. They are all excellent musicians, but don't take themselves very seriously at all, kinda like Leo. This isn't even their weirdest song.
While were on the subject of weird, Frog Leap dropped a live cover of Heart Barracuda. It's probably the first metal cover of a metal song 😁

Hmm I will have to check that Frog Leap song out! I can only imagine the spin he put on it. 😂😁 Thank you! 🎵
Awesome reaction! Could you please checkout HammerFall and their song Hammer of Dawn or Brotherhood, they are a Swedish band formed in 1993. Great vocalist. and great instruments
the brotherhood song they invite their kids to the video
Just realized this guy looks just like Jimmy Kimmel.
Looking for info before watching videos, spoils the fun. Watch videos blindly.
i subbed you but my comment was deleted, pls lower your automatic moderation standards, because its very annoying when i, as a non native english speaker write nice things and they it gets deleted...grts.
Hello! I'm sorry to hear this. Sometimes it just gets put into possible spam for some reason (beyond my control!) and it will eventually be approved. I appreciate you watching and commenting though, so please know it's not intentional.
Why do you ruin your reaction by pre-reading some already-chewed-shit from the internets?
Yeah I don't know why I did that. I don't do that anymore. Song discussion comes afterwards nowadays. 👌🏻
I felt so sad listening to you.🫤😔
You were obviously raised in a place that fun forgot.😢
Yes, Go for Norwegian Reggaeton. It is unlikely that you will understand much of the brilliance and humour but at least you will enjoy the music which is exceptional.
Nanowar of Steel is a band with great brilliance and humour woven into incredible music composition. Best enjoyed by people with some form of education. They are the God-tier of Music and Humour.
The bassest is in Astro-physics for his day job and speaks 10 languages.
I am amazed at how many people identify Trading Places but do not notice The Blues Brothers reference.
It is believed that Santa Clause originally came from Odin worship traditions, Viking boats were pegged so could be taken apart like Ikea furniture for land portages.
The guitar soloist is wearing Ikea uniform. The first scene is of a Siren luring Viking sailors to their death while drowning.
Sasha Gray is an Americain Porn star.
It would likely take months to explain all the other clever references missed so I will stop here.
🥰🥰🥰🇨🇦
Haha well I appreciate you listing off some of the ones that I missed (I'll be the first to admit there were a lot 😂) and telling me a bit about the band. 😊 I'm gonna put Norwegian Reggaeton on the poll on Monday cause a decent amount of people have suggested that one next! 🎵
