  • SunSquabi perform their song “Wizard” in this music video recorded at the SecondStoryGarage.com studio inside the Daily Camera newsroom in Boulder, Colorado.Boulder is a breeding ground for electronic music infused with live instruments, and SunSquabi is the style’s latest success story. The three-member group formed in 2011 and has maintained an impressive schedule of EP, album and remix releases. The band’s latest release, the Thunder EP, came out in December, and they’ve got another album in the works, set for release in 2015.
It’s looking to be a breakout year for the band, which announced this week it will play Red Rocks in September, in support of GRiZ. Confirmation of their place on the lineup came together during their visit to Second Story Garage, which maybe explains the extra bite in the set we recorded.
During the session, SunSquabi - Kevin Donohue on guitars and synth, Andrew Clymer on bass and synth and Chris Anderson on drums - played “Thunder,” “Wizard” and “Hustlin’.” They also sat down with Quentin to talk about their sound.
This is music with obvious party potential and concert hall appeal. But the musicianship of its members makes SunSquabi just as fun to watch in the studio.
What they brought us: A signed snare drum head that was used on the band’s last tour.

I love jam bands. But lord they al sound the same

I would somewhat agree that a portion of low grade jam bands sounds the same in their attempts to pursue a sound created by their pioneering predecessors but dude... you gotta be kidding me... listen to the dead, panic, phish, lotus .... there’s such great diversity in the scene of major bands absolutely ruling it... if you can’t see the differences you are trippin. That’s like saying all classic rock sounds the same.

Do the allman bros sound like the dead? Not even close... explore the so called genre and you’ll understand

Jam bands were born from every category of music... jazz, soul, funk, rock, gospel... extended musical compositions that opened up a world of progressive non linear structure. It’s similar to improve comedy.. you Create and feed off of what’s presented... the structure may be the same but the content is original and different

@daniel butler the bands you listed are some of the least generic jam bands playing right now wtf. If you said The Werks, Twiddle, or Pigeons maybe I'd agree with you
