My favourite is the scene in the classroom at the beginning with Jefferson bc if you sit and listen he says “I could capture any one of you in a dark room” and talks about capturing innocence- and that seems to be the one scene Max always comes back to

Another thing people noticed about Rachel (someone on tiktok pointed it out) during the dinner scene in before the storm a few moments before she break the table the candles seem to get more intense
true. when i went through Max's nightmare i kind of missed his locker, so i haven't seen this and him creeping after her. only later i found out about his locker in her nightmare. I was just glad that i somehow got through this nightmare. I was really bad in playing this part, without constantly getting noticed by someone. xD

I take Warren’s creepy locker in Max’s nightmare to moreso refoect Max’s insecurities. The emphasis on all the half-nude females with Max’s head plastered over them seems to indicate more her genuine fear that she doesn’t actually have meaningful connections to people, she knows that Warren has a huge crush on her and in the nightmare it’s translated into Warren viewing her just as a sex object, this relates to for example the very explicit moments where she sees alternate Maxes and Chloes telling her that Chloe doesn’t actually care about her and instead just manipulates her, going so far as to equate Max’s attachment to Chloe to ”stockholm’s syndrome”.
Yup, I don't think that's Warren's true nature or anything. He's awkward and while he has some weird moments(that photoshopped image of him and Max), but I don't think that he's just an evil creepy stalker. I think that if that was what he's meant to be, they'd show it to us, or at least not let us kiss him. Elliot is the character that always felt to me like the authors of Before the Storm took what some fans say about Warren, and actually made that character.

In Before the Storm Chloe's truck has the license plate "Anbonny", a reference to Anne Bonny, a woman pirate. It's probably my favorite reference in any of the games bc of the moments talking about Max and Chloe wanting to be pirates when they were little.
It's not only that Anne Bonny was a female pirate, she is said to be bisexual, which really fits the theme of queer awakening in the whole LiS franchise and all the tension between Chloe and Max/ Chloe and Rachel. @@ilc4tsp119 one of the firsts times you go with Chloe to the junkyard, if you explore a lil bit, you'll find Rachel and Chloe's hiding spot, with a grafiti that says "Chloe was here. Rachel was here." The player is given the choice to add "Max was here". Later, at the end of episode 4, if you go back to that hidding spot before finding the body, red paint will be over the grafiti saying "Rachel IS here" and, if the player chose to add Max's name, both Max and Chloe will be circled and the phrase "You're all gonna die here" will also be there.
Nice video👌 I would add these: 1. At Chloe's funeral you can see that Max has her spike bracelet on. 2. There are some unused audios of Max that would make the romance with Chloe more evident. 3. Michel Koch (co-director of the game) is one of the characters that appears in reality when Max goes to San Francisco. 4. In the prequel during a Chloe dream there is a drawing of Max (18 years old) hanging in a tree pointing to a possible theory that she suicide her after the sacrifice Chloe.
I chose to save Chloe because of an inconsistency. None of the other minor changes that max makes cause world altering events and yet for some reason saving somebody from dying is where the universe draws the line. This leads me to believe that human life is an important thing within the life of strange universe. That's why I don't believe Max just got her powers randomly like an X-Men mutation or something. I think she should be allowed to use her powers however she wants and if the universe didn't want her using them it shouldn't have given them to her in the first place
I always saw the world altering events being due to Max's sustained use of her powers and that Chloe's death was the catalyst for all of it - the first time she ever uses her powers was to save Chloe and everything spiralled from there (hence the Butterfly Effect that is so ubiquitous in the game), so by going back to before she ever used her powers she is essentially wiping the slate clean. Not a perfect explanation, I know.
The purpose of her getting her powers was to teach her a lesson. To face her shadow self and nightmares and insecurity and flaws, to bond with an old friend , see what she missed out on by ghosting, instead Chloe would’ve just died and max would’ve felt some regret but not much because she moved away and didn’t keep in touch. The universe gave her her powers to teach her to be more brave and value her relationships more so she won’t have any regrets.

i believe the theory that maxs powers came from rachel. Think about it, She has the vision of the tornado before she ever saves chloe- before she ever USES her power (if she even has it by that point). Meaning that the tornado was already on its way. Also Rachel seemed to have a bit of control over the wind, and if so, a tornado is EXACTLY what shed use to get revenge on the town that killed her. Lastly, if the power came from "the universe" why would it try to correct chloes death? clearly it wanted her to be saved if it granted max these abilities, so why was the tornado and the snow and the eclipes's happening? Why was chloe shot 2 more times in the same week? why did her foot get stuck on the tracks right when a train was coming? why try and correct her death if it believed chloe needed to be saved that day? because it wasnt the universe that gave her that ability. It was Rachel. Rachel knew she was going to destroy that town, and she wanted to give chloe the chance to live their dream, the one she would never be able to. So she gave max the abilites, sent her visions of the tornado, and even led her to the one spot that would be safe for them to stay..the lighthouse. I believe rachel was the cause for it all.
I am still pissed that they didn't add the hospital ending as a secret ending. It would have been perfect as a "You have to do everything perfect" ending or as an ending where you would have to find some kind of hidden interaction in a previous level.
Lis is truly a masterpiece. It’s only one of a few games that I can replay and replay and not getting tired, I always seem to find out something new about it
I'm surprised Sunday Blombergh wasn't mentioned in this video, but the controversy surrounding her and Rachel remains. Essentially, Rachel's missing poster was found to be far too similar to that of Sunday Blombergh's missing poster (yes, a real woman who went missing and was discovered to have been brutally murdered) to be coincidental. The layout of the poster, the phrasing of the recognizable features section, the date Rachel and Sunday went missing, and even the sherrif number past the central office code are all the same. Granted, it was probably accidental, the developer likely just wanted to see an example of an American missing poster and found Sunday's, but it's still pretty dark.
so this poster, mixed with Rachel's poster, was actually the image for tier 6 of the iceberg. I blurred it for the video (along with tier 5 and tier 7's images) because it's potentially triggering but it shows that the author of the iceberg knew about it, but didn't include it in the final iceberg. It's interesting, but as you said, it's quite dark so I understand the choice to leave it out. It's definitely an interesting fact though, I'm glad you brought it up and in such a respectful way.

I don’t really think it was accidental, they gave Rachel the same tattoos as Sunny and even put them in the same place as where Sunny had them. I remember Sunnys daughter making a tiktok about how she found it disgusting how they used her moms missing poster and not asking for her families permission for such blatant copying. I don’t think the studio even apologized or said anything about it when she called them out
I honestly think that the powers these characters have, need a catalyst and that’s just kinda it. We don’t know how they’ve been chosen yet. With Rachel, the shock she had from her situation awoke her powers. With Max, her watching someone die awoke her powers. With Daniel, him watching his dad die awoke his powers. And with Alex, haven’t seen anything on it yet because I need to play it, but I assume an event will cause her powers to awake as well.
Major spoilers: for Alex, when her mom died of cancer, her dad left her and her brother, and then her brother went to juvenile prison. That’s what awoke her powers. Being completely alone. And what’s interesting is that, with high amounts of empathy can be caused for dealing with large amounts of trauma.

@@GrimSpookz her having powers is not confirmed tho, it's highly hinted tho. A lot of people think the way the wind goes when she screams is just a cinematic effect for dramatic purposes. And I think the reason why the fire suddenly dies when she's in hospital is that she is symbolized by fire a lot.

I feel like it doesn't get brought up much but I'd love to know how Rachel ended up dating Frank...they don't address it once in Before the Storm but made it a pretty big deal in the first game. I'd love to hear theories on how that relationship came to be.. it seems pretty out of character and strange she'd cheat on Chloe.
long comment coming through lol.... obviously they hinted it in before the storm but it's still odd how she told both frank and chloe that she wanted to leave arcadia bay with them (at diff times obviously). i've seen lots of people say she was just using him for drugs or whatever but it really does seem like she changes so much between before the storm and the first life is strange game. she had also developed feelings for jefferson and was planning to tell chloe but the thought of it seemed to scare her? i think rachel's crush on jefferson could also be talked about more. i think the relationship that rachel and chloe had is very unclear even if you choose to be romantic with her in before the storm. they never make anything like super official which isn't bad but maybe it would have been a way for rachel to have felt justified for what she did, which would be messing around with these men without chloe's knowledge. i think even without them being romantic it would be weird to do so much with frank and jefferson and not tell your best friend which makes me wonder how rachel really thought of chloe. i know chloe could get angry and aggressive but i wonder how much rachel really trusted her. i guess since she at least thought of telling chloe about jefferson and probably would have if she had not died. personally i feel like rachel always just liked looking for whatever would make her feel something in the moment. what rachel had with chloe in before the storm was probably something she hadn't experienced before, and she keeps looking for new experiences. she probably just messed around with frank a bit and when she saw a chance to leave she took it. same with jefferson, except she wasn't the one who had the upper hand in that situation unfortunately. i think she genuinely cared about these 3 to some degree, but always failed to consider how things would occur if these people ever came across with one another or maybe always felt like she could control a situation where chloe found out anyway when she was still alive. i like to think maybe after before the storm happens, in the ending where she doesn't meet her mom rachel tries to find her mom somehow through frank but either finds a dead end or maybe she gets too frustrated with him in the end. in the ending where she does meet her mom, since frank in a way helped chloe and rachel she could have possibly felt grateful and spent some time with him which could have led to more. either way i think their relationship would have started a little after before the storm ended, since it feels like they spent quite some time together.

I always thought Rachel was the doe when I first played it especially after playing both games I would love to think that she was guiding max to revenge her death and put chloes pain to rest
Another theory that I read a long time ago after my first playthrough was that William was the doe. I know that it makes more sense for it to be Rachel, but the symbolism of Williams snow globe and how William loved Max like a daughter really got me looking at this as plausible as well. He was leading them to Rachel and leading them to safety at the lighthouse and in BtS he was there for Chloe before her showdown at the end.
That reveal of Jefferson being the killer will always live in my mind rent free. This game isn’t perfect, absolutely not, but I kinda miss the time when I’d be waiting for the new episode of LIS to come out so my fav streamers could play it. I’ve heard great things about the new games, mostly that they’re even better than the original, but LiS 1 will always have a unique feeling to me.
Long time LiS fan here! The prequel Before the Storm is almost as good, True Colors is also nice, but LiS 2 was terrible to be quite honest -and I really wanted to love it and kept an open mind being that it featured all new characters.😅 But it’s just so annoying/frustrating that the character you’re playing isn’t the one with the super power but instead your immature little brother is who gets you into trouble constantly when he’s not busy throwing temper tantrums. Also because the story isn’t set in one fixed location, you barely get to know the other characters because you obviously continue to meet new people wherever you go. I’m nervously/excitedly awaiting LiS Double Exposure though.
Just had a epiphany: when max thinks she stopped the clocked from working because she messed up time but finds a lady bug stuck in it.. this could reference the tornado, and how max thought it was her rewind powers but it’s in fact Rachael is stuck and is the cause!!!
I know a lot of time passed since you wrote this comment, and I honestly love your idea, but I just realized that maybe the ladybug tries to represents the “action dot” on the time reversing thing on the corner when you reverse time with Max, which is basically a clock, and you know it always goes in the opposite direction of a normal clock when you reverse. So maybe It’s an indication that Max’s right when she says It’s her fault
The 8 episodes thing is actually not true, the file that those references are found in is a remnant from Remember Me, as LIS1 was built on top of the same engine (the same file even still references Lilin, Adrift (which was RMs original name) and other Remember Me elements). Why the CEO mentioned EP6 and onward, no idea, since even in 2013 and 2014 they had only 5 episodes planned, as confirmed by a leaked prototype and several ANCIENT pieces of concept art. It's possible that he was only vaguely aware of how LIS1 was made, since CEOs usually are more busy with the "management part" of a studio/company. As a comparison, the Telltale Higher Ups usually had no idea what exactly was going on with their games until they saw them in person long into development. Also, LIS1 literally did not have the room, time, or budget to _possibly_ add 3 more episodes, LIS1 was a "do or die" project. Had it failed, Dontnod would have went bankrupt, so they tried saving money wherever they could - hence why they Remember Me as its base. Tanget over, back to touching grass irl :B

I chose Bay over bae my first time too, it felt like I was fighting fate trying to keep chloe alive, plus the diner scene w everyone I would've let die got to me
i chose the bay first time too! It was really kate, joyce, david, (who i grew to like after ep 5) warren and everyone else in the diner that convinced me. My brain reasoned that who's to say she wont die anyway? It felt like 30 people over 1 (which is was)
I'm the one who always thought that Saving Arcadia Bay is the right choice and there's no doubt about that. That is a very sad ending, but that was for the best for everyone. For that nice town and its citizens who we've become friends with trough the game.

If you were to choose saving Chloe, that would be the canon continuation, but that doesn’t mean your choices weren’t “canon”

Always the save Chloe ending. I'm a firm believer in Rachel being the storm all along. Along with the evidence in this video, a previous video I've seen linked Rachel's character in the Tempest play with her, heavily implied, powers. In the play, she plays Prospero/Prospera. "Prospero is skilled magically and uses magic to create storms, provide entertainment, manipulate others, and exercise power and control over the lives of others. Prospero enjoys knowledge and learning, particularly the learning of spells." You cannot prove to me that Rachel was not the storm. As for the storms purpose, I believe it was either to avenge her own untimely (no pun intended) death, or to inevitably bring Chloe to be with her. Either way, Rachel WAS the storm, you can't convince me otherwise.

Rachel was the doe max seen in the junkyard etc. no reason they would make Rachel’s spirit the storm considering she was friends with everyone in town and wouldn’t want them to suffer like she did.....duh. Rachel wouldn’t make max decide if chloe lives or dies the theory of Rachel is the storm makes 0 since the storm is repercussion of Max not accepting decisions that didn’t matter she changed so many things that never needed to be fixed any one of them could have led to the storm happening it was a result of abuse of power she literally lies to almost everyone she meets she isn’t a hip skater girl she doesn’t know anything about drones she used and abused her power through most the game to get people to like her it’s only in the end when she had to face the consequences of a decision where she could do nothing with her power to change it that she learned a lesson

@Kidtoon one more idea I had is the storm is the universe trying to correct itself it needs chloe to die so it keeps setting up these scenarios for chloe to end up dead the storm was literally a foreshadowing to max that if she does what she is about to do even tho she doesn’t know that she is about to walk in on chloe getting shot that it will have a really bad consequence regardless of how she tries or how many times she attempts to save her the universe is foreshadowing to max that overall chloe will have to die or you will have to sacrifice many others and I can imagine even tho I haven’t read the comics that it keeps happening to them as time goes on the universe will always want to take chloe from max. It’s only right considering max left chloe alone for no good reason. The universe is a great balancing act max just likes to unbalance it losing chloe is the lesson the universe is teaching max about keeping your friends close to you and not letting them go. To me anyway.
I always thought that the storm happened because Max saved Chloe, primarily cause throughout the game Chloe is placed in deadly situations and Max keeps saving her, suggesting that the world is trying to kill her and that the storm is its last attempt by destroying the whole town. It is also implied that the storm doesn't appear when Max lets Chloe die.
It's not even implied, it's a fact that the storm doesn't appear. Due to the nature of Max's powers, when she has travelled back in time using photographs she always reappears in the exact time frame that she left, she leaves on wednesday at 13 and comes back conscious on that same wednesday at 13 (this is and example). That means when she leaves in the 5th episode and returns after Chloe's death it MUST be at the same moment as when she left, which was in the middle of the storm. So yeah, Chloe caused the storm by simply living.
It‘s been yeaaaars and I still will never get sick of lis theories 😂 I remember the whole thing with Nathan mentioning the storm and I was so hyped! In combination with the prepping and the name of the bunker i was really hoping that there would be a greater meaning behind it but sadly they didn’t work it in. There was also one theory that Rachel not only was romantically involved with frank but also with mr Jefferson! The letter you can find at the junkyard doesn’t really describes frank and people think it describes Mr. Jefferson more

@@user-op6kt8pg9y This is essentially why I hated Rachel. So many fans love Rachel for who she was, but once you have the whole story you see Rachel as an opportunist. She comes off as a free spirit. Which is why so many loved her, but really she was a leech and used everyone around her to better herself. Which was her downfall. Her choices and disappearance is what drags other characters down like Chloe, Max, Nathan, Frank and her parents. She befriended them only to better herself which led those characters to make decisions that made their lives so much worse.
Theory: The Prescott family runs a secret company that is responsible for managing and studying the space-time continuum. Nathan's father gives him drugs to develop some kind of ESP (Extrasensory perception) like precognition or directly Max's powers to use them to his advantage, because remember: Max's power is a psychic power (she manipulates time with her mind.) That is why his father is so rich and mysterious. It also explains why Nathan is so sick of the head and knows about the storm.

Odviously not always is going to give you time powers or precognition, and there's were Daniel (telekinesis) Alex (Emphatic and telepathic powers) and Rachel (Pyrokinesis) take place.
The one with the homeless lady reminded me of something I read. I was rewatching a let's play for BTS and was reading the newer comments. I was at the part where Chloe visits Rachel at the hospital, episode 3 I believe. Some people were saying that apparently the receptionist is the homeless lady. I don't know how much evidence there was for that theory but she did resemble her. I initially thought maybe they reused some things from the homeless woman's character model but all the characters are unique and never look alike so that wouldn't make sense. It makes me curious about her story but it seems like it would fit if it really was her.
I was waiting for the Rachel was still alive theory during the beginning of episode 1, it was quite intriguing, because the theorist went deep as to define how long it'll take for a body to stop smelling so much, but Rachel's seemed to be still fresh and ill-smelling- contrary to her time of missing

I would add the drawing in Chloe's dream hinting Max committed suicide. I have two theories for this One of them is that Max did commit suicide, but not the Max we know, that could be Max If she'd never awaken her powers and just stayed still letting Nathan kill that girl and then finding out the girl was actually Chloe. Max probably felt guilty for not even trying to contact her despite being back in town for weeks after leaving for 5 years and not saving Chloe when she finally gets to see her - which led me to think that the responsible for Max powers and the whole LIS story could actually be Rachel/Chloe trying to save Max and the storm is Rachel/Chloe pushing Max accept Chloe's death after learning she was meant to die anyways My other theory, which I think it's the most plausible, is that the drawing represents Chloe's unconscious fear : the fear that the reason Max never tried to contact her its bc she's dead or the fear that the reason Max never tried to contact her its bc she does not care about her anymore - implying that Chloe doesn't want to believe that Max never cared about her, she would rather believe she's just dead -
I'd like to add a spin to the first theory.I always thought that that drawing was meant to show what happened after the ending where we let chloe die becuz we shouldn't forget that Max still remembers the whole week.A week where she was ambushed,drugged,kidnapped (the whole backroom trauma),watching chloe die multible time and others in the storm ect.So imo in the ending where Chloe dies Max can't bring her trauma up to no one or deal with it cuz in that timeline 'it didn't happen' and this would prob eat at Max's mental state enough for her to commit suicide.This would also add to the other ending becuz it would make it a bit more selfish in a sense,max would save herself from her ulter-timeline fate by saving chloe and having someone to talk ab her ptsd with (and ofc add to the let chloe die ending cuz by letting her die you would doom max with her)But idk opinions? :3

Did you know that Arcadia Bay is a real place? It's actually a city near where I live in Oregon called "Tillamook." The light house on the coast is also real, it's in a small town on the coast of oregon called Astoria. I grew up here and I just remember when Warren asks Max if she would go with him to the NEWBERG drive in I almost couldn't believe it. Newberg is the small town I grew up in and I definitely remember taking more then one date to the Newberg Drive-In. It's a real place, although sadly closed now.
I don’t know how I feel about warren. I always liked him but felt a little unnerved by his obsession; however I don’t think he’s some major creep, I think he just idolizes Max. Ive had a couple people who liked me behave the same way as him, but it was never because they were creeps. It was more so because they had only known me for a couple months and hadn’t had a crush on someone like me before so they put me on a pedestal in their head (I think this especially makes sense since max and warren have only known eachother for a little bit). The nightmare sequence thing I thought was related to different timelines/realities, so the locker doesn’t really prove anything other than there is probably a version of warren that is a stalker, but that doesn’t mean that it’s our warren in the game (if it was, I feel like his actual pool locker would have shown hints of that), or that max also thinks he has an obsession, but that doesn’t mean he’s actually a stalker. As for him peeking through the window, remember that max has his thumb drive which has a folder named max (dana saw it and wasn’t creeped out by it so it stands to reason it’s probably not smth super weird or creepy, just evidence of his crush). He probably wants to see if she left the dorm yet to give it back to him cause it’s embarrassing. Maybe it’s just my own bias from personal experience, but there’s a lot of awkward dudes out there and Warren just seems like one of them.
I admit that when I was a teenager I was dumbfounded by girls, maybe I had some qualities of Warren, however the fact that he hinted sex to Max in the first conversation, indicates as if he was only trying to "play hero" during the game to get into the pants of Max and that's disgusting..
@@montblancleblanc1747 I would agree with you if the other characters in the game didn’t also say that warren was a nice guy in general. I don’t wanna be like “no one found an issue with him so there’s no issue” cause that’s not always the case but maybe it’s up to interpretation. I would be really uncomfortable if the game was leading me to believe we could choose to have max end up with a stalker, alone, or with Chloe (I like Chloe as a character but she’s a little too… morally corrupt for me to want max to pursue a relationship with)
When I find a video or discussion about this game, I can't help thinking bout the "Stockholm syndrome" kind of relationship I have with it. It made me cry a lot and still does and yet, it's my favorite game. The depression vibe it gives is somehow.. calming to me. Weird
In the "I cant live here anymore" section, I hear "I feel stuck here" so I think that fits live is strange well. I never noticed warren stalking, really scared me. This is a game you can play for the first time and feel like you know everything, there's something really sentimental about it, relaxing. This isn't in the video but i feel super bad for Nathan, he fucked up and killed Rachel accidentally, And I'm absolutely in love with the red vs blue theme, in the start Victoria kinda has a purple tint to her cashmere coat, I think this is to give the idea we don't know if we like her or not but yeah i just think that's really cool. I kinda think that the butterfly is something to do with Rachel, as when Chloe was checking the stalls she stopped where the butterfly was and didn't check behind, think that's something cool too. If you read all this tyyy !
I just realized that the gray bucket with water inside in the girls bathroom where the blue butterfly lands on could symbolize the storm as a waterspout and the butterfly landing on it could be butterfly effect of what's going to happen. The butterfly flying away when Max takes a picture of it could mean that maybe it's the different choices that Max has to make the butterfly leaving means that she let Chloe die in the bucket itself means she chose Chloe instead of Arcadia Bay. That's my theory I guess.
There's the theory that the person who screams "Say yes!" during the theater play of Chloe and Rachel in BTS ep. 2 is Steph Gingrich. The voice is really similar to Stephs, Steph also knows about Chloes crush on Rachel and heckling suits her personality imo since she's very confident and also very good at bantering as seen in the Wavelenghts DLC I think there were also some leaks of episode 3 of Before the storm that showed code of some sort of unused choices that Chloe could make. One of them was "sing lullaby", which was never used. There's the theory that fire is often used as a symbol for Rachel Amber in BTS. In Chloes nightmare William tells her that fire is beautiful but dangerous - that description fits undeniably Rachels character- Chloe who is totally drawn by her beauty and charisma but ends up being hurt by her erratic and unpredictable nature. The nightmare foreshadows and Willliam kind of "warns" Chloe about Rachel. Rachel also says "From what I've tasted from desire, I hold with those who favor fire". In the nightmare sequence of episode 1 she also went up in fllames. And there's this whole theory about her and the forest fire that is already mentioned in the video :) Basically Rachel IS fire lmao I also always wondered what the phrase "Rachel Amber forever" meant. It's engraved into a school table in Blackwell Academy. It seems a bit mysterious to me, somehow like it's written by someone who sees the bigger picture and knows that Rachel is part of something bigger, like the storm for example.

Max was clearly on Jeffershit list. The reason why he wanted her to enter the contest. Make capturing her easier. Man is sick. Kidnapping and murdering those poor girls after he takes those photos. So heart breaking thinking about those girls in those red binders all buried in shallow graves.

I still feel like this game is a masterpiece and this also makes it feel so strange how many ppl hate it for it‘s flawed „cringe“ teen dialogue while being unable to appreciate it for anything else rhat the game does so fantastically well. Like, it‘s one of those games that just feels genuinely soothing to me. Like home for some reason and I‘m not even american. There‘s just such genuine artistic value and fantastic story telling in the game and even the character writing is stellar imo. I also always liked the American Girl song theory especially about it cause it fits so well what kind of theme the game really seemed to be about. Telling a story about american girls but in a genuine realistic way. Flaws and all. I mean just the complexity of chloe and Max are so well established and I genuinely love their relationship too and the possibility to be queer. I genuinely love this game and am ultra excited to try all other life is strange games as well because of how much they mean to me. Everything about them feels just so kind and loving in a strange way and so whenever my chronic pain gets really bed I use it as a last resort to cope with the Pain until it passes. It‘s magical what games like this one can do for people. And I do really think it overshadows all the hate from the salty gamerbro crowd who can‘t comprehend women or young girls can be fully developed characters instead of sexy lamps.
If anyone is looking for more Life is Strange content then there are 5 (soon to be 6) volumes comics that follow the saving Chloe timeline. It’s weird, like really weird with alternate realities becoming a normal thing and a couple new “super” powered individuals, but it is some of the most heartwarming and heartbreaking stuff I’ve ever read. The final issue will drop in March next year and it shall kill me to wait.

I spent no time on the final choice, it was a no-brainer to pick chloe. yes she's got lots of problems, and encourages max to take part in shady behaviours that max isnt comfortable with, but at the end of the day, i really resented the idea that chloe is 'fated' to die, and letting her live felt like a defiance of that. but i also dont think it's a right-or-wrong choice, it just reveals something about your own character. great video btw!

I'm an older gamer. I didn't think I would relate to this game, but I like to try games that are popular. I was blown away! This is some deep stuff. Max is a Caulfield! Catcher In The Rye! I knew then I'd have some fun. The twist and turns were rarely predictable. I'm glad it shows real issues that affect younger people as they come of age. But, I was able to identify, and share feelings with our characters. We had choose you adventure books as kids, but the presentation is much better in a video format. Also, the themes are better, as it doesn't treat its audience like kids, but young adults. I had more than fun. I had vicarious love, happiness, sorrow, fear, and felt how using good intentions can go bad. We can do everything right, and still lose. I may have even shed a few tears... I have the second one now, I'm starting the second chapter.
Kate's sister Lynn might have been kidnapped by mister jefferson as well, there is a picture in Kate's room with her whole family and we see she has two sisters, lynn is the one with the glasses and her hair held up in a ponytail. There is a model used as a background character which looks exactly like lynn. In the ending of episode 2, we can see a folder with lynn written on it.
I wish the game was longer. We never got to know what was Samuel’s deal. Never got revenge on Victoria, Brooke is a super shallow character, we didn’t get to explore more of David, and Max’s relationship with Warren
Not sure if it fits here but in the Sims 4 High School Years expansion pack there are pre-made families with the surnames Price and Prescott! Absolutely love seeing Life is Strange's legacy live on
oh my god!! I don't have that pack so I had no idea, I need to look into it! I also felt like the Werewolf pack looked very Arcadia Bay esque from what I saw!
My first playthrough of the game broke me. I ended up saving Chloe and had so much guilt about it but I felt like I needwd to. The other times I've played it I let her die. But since then ive been reading the Comic series set after the first game and I love them so much. When the remaster comes out i'll probably save Chloe. I think as far as world building its the better choice. Especially just seeing how it affects the people who survived. David when he shows up in 2 and also Steph and Mikey in the new Wavelength DLC.
@@RaphaelleLD I think for the most part LIS is amazing at making the final decision really tough. I don't think ive agonised over one as much as the first one however. Glad they're still making them all things considered it's probably my favourite series. I really enjoyed the newest one. Kinda hope we see more from Alex.
I chose chloe the first time I ever played the game in 2015 and the only thing I'm bummed about it that the other ending would've hit so much harder had I chose it myself when I played I still cry now but the first time would've been so much harder
I recently replayed LiS and I chose to save Chloe. I couldn't get myself to sacrifice her. I also don't believe that *everyone* in Arcadia Bay dies from the storm.
There's actually a popular theory that the hospital Kate can reside in if you save her is outside of the hospital, meaning even if you sacrifice the town she survives
Yes it's confirmed in the spinoff book Steph's Story that not everyone dies - Steph and Mikey live by hiding in a basement, for example. But many of the other characters do die like Warren, Joyce, Drew, etc.
I just finished a re-playthrough with my brother after about 5 years, and it still hits just as hard. It's such a beautiful game. However we ended up choosing Bay over Bae, as the older I get the more I realise that chloe actually was a bad friend to max, and that honouring chloe's decision to be truly selfless at the very end is the most moral choice. I did cry as soon as I saw frank and Pompidou at her funeral though.
I'm in love with the LIS series, and this video is super interesting and well made! I would love to see you make a video based on LIS 2 iceberg or maybe even True Colors, seeing as there are tons of connecting details and easter eggs in both games.

Something I found interesting is the topic of how Max was able to rewind and end up back in her seat when she first sees Chloe get shot in the bathroom. I've seen theories that that was actually still part of her vision/dream and that her first rewind was actually saving her camera in class. It could also just be a plot hole since that's inconsistent with how her power actually works in-game.
During my very first play through I chose to save Chloe because there was no proof that the storm wasn’t going to happen if she died. I was thinking that because Max had the vision of the storm before anything had happened it was already coming

Im pretty sure Warrens aggression towards a School bully who beat him up and threatened his crush, then later tried to kill him - "You are so fucking dead!" *Brings out gun* - must have made anyone pretty furious. Honestly i wish the police existed in this world because Nathan should just get arrested, but if you wouldnt be mad at someone you didnt do all of the above to you, you have the restraint of a saint. Also, I never saw the Nightmare locker real, but rather her personal fears of Warren.
30:30 one of the creepiest thing about Max' nightmare is that at a certain point Warren says something to the effect of how he has often imagined what he would do to her if they were in the Dark Room together.

My headcannon is that Max and the rest of the superpowered characters in the games are similar to, if not an alternate universe version of, mutants from the Marvel multiverse. Their powers seemingly always trigger after a traumatic event much like how Mutant powers lie dormant until a large amount of stress triggers them

I love the idea that nathan experiences visions and glimpses into the future as a sort of cosmic effect of what he did to rachel. As if when he hurt her and caused her death, some of her ability was transferred for him but no power to change fate, leaving him helpless and desperate like she was as revenge
In Life Is Strange Before The Storm and go to the stage scene when Chloe and her father are on stage sat on a "car" which is four seats (i think it was a dream of hers), you can look through the messages, journal, etc and see its changed a lot. But the one message from Rachael freaked me out because she said: "I've been dead for millions of years." SORRY IT'S SO LONG/CONFUSING

I think the storm was caused by Max using her powers and shifting energy that pushed against other energies that caused the storm. Which would explain how it got so powerful, if it got a charge each time Max used her power. And the reason it vanishes if you choose to save the town is that Max erased all the times she used her power and there were no energies to build up the storm.
The butterfly effect theory is the only plausible theory about the storm. I understand and appreciate other theories on this subject. There is too much evidence within the game to deny this outcome. Nature always finds balance.
I wish we got hospital ending cuz I'm writing a fanfiction where Max makes an alternative timeline where she is best friends with Nathan (he got the mental health help he needed) Rachel's alive. And Nathan, Chloe and Rachel have power. Nathan has memory manipulation power Rachel control the element Chloe has super strength and is bulletproof

I like the Rachel theory that she caused the storm, it makes sense, seeing as if it is true she had powers and didn't know who really killed her until max found out, her anger in the afterlife caused her to wipe that town off the map, would have been Rachel's way of mercy to what's happened in that town behind the scenes

The best theory is that Mr Jefferson is the good guy. Mr Jefferson was hired by Nathan's dad to kill Max, the genocide time traveler who destroys Arcadia Bay. Nathan can see the future so he told his psychiatrists about his visions. Nathan's dad heard those visions from the psychiatrists. An argument that Nathan has time travel powers could be seen in his vision, in his cry that everyone will die and don't forget that Nathan has headaches and nosebleeds way worse than Max had. Nathan even yells: you will all die. In the cut-out audio Nathan even knew that the storm was coming so Nathan has definitely visions which are an early sign of time travel powers and they were not fully developed yet, maybe because the medicines he took suppressed his powers. Mr Jefferson's job was to find: a girl, with time travel powers, who will destroy Arcadia Bay. It was his job to act like a teacher in order to mingle among highschool students to find this supergirl. An argument could be made how Jefferson instantly killed Chloe in the junkyard but dosed Max, because Jefferson knew that dosing Nathan suppresses his visions as well so by dosing Max her powers shouldn't work anymore. In the dark room Jefferson said: "how do you know that?". He could be referring to: Max is heavily suppressed so she shouldn't be able to use her powers. Conclusion: Jefferson is an every day hero and Max is the evil time traveler who, in the end, succeeded in destroying Arcadia Bay. Max is so evil, that she didn't even drive to her mother to check if she's still alive and if not, bury her in the ground, but no, she doesn't even blink an eye to leave the village as fast as possible, in order to drive to New York (according to David in LiS2), I guess Max was really trying to meet and learn from her hero Spiderman because Max' motto is: WITH GREAT POWERS, come zero responsibility
This video is the first time in yeaaaaars I've seen someone bring up Anima Gaming! I used to watch her channel so much when she was active, and she was even the one who originally convinced me to get Undertale, which quickly became one of my favourite games of all time. I'm really happy to see her getting more attention, even if it sadly reminds me she hasn't uploaded in 3 years. :c

since theres nowhere else for me to share theories then imma share it here. in my theory, if u chose to sacrifice chloe, everything loops back again because the blue butterfly (chloe's spirit) travels through time again to find max and gave her powers to make chloe stay alive and spend 5 days of the same things again. so its just pointless sacrificing chloe. And Max on the other hand, will just be stuck over and over and over agin and somewhere as a result she will end up as the old homeless lady with cataract. as the second result she became another max left behind while the other one where max encounter herself in episode 5 diner after unlocking the digit coded door, was another max that was corrupted (or somethin cuz i dont have any observations on it) already had enough of her own actions and try waking up the real max we play as and yet chloe still save our max. The doe in my theory, is actually william (pls dont argue cuz this is my personal theory and yes feel free to redirect me if i get this wrong) and the the tornado is actually the true spirit of rachel. ok, so in before the storm, rachel was gifted/cursed by the raven and given her the ability to control the environment like air and fire (which its clearly shown) and chloe was dreaming an illusion where the raven pretends to be william the entire time and point out a path for chloe to lead rachel to live for three years to be killed by jefferson. with this result, rachel's pain, anger and hatred grows ever larger. the question still remains; how is this connected to the storm? the answer is, max's chain reaction functions as a beacon and that beacon attracts rachel's tornado and destroy arcadia bay for the raven. after all, the raven's true purpose of all this is to regain balance and turn arcadia bay back to its original state. any thoughts of these thoery? im not really good at explaining cuz some of these have bad vocabularies which leads to my sentences that doesnt make sense and oso, im not good at elaborating these theories in order (btw srry if i messed up some of em and do pls comment some resposes on what u think). some are already told in the vid btw and still..... im cryin for a sequel of max and chloe not a remaster (the remastered doesnt change anythin and they only changed the graphics abit to look more human and polished"
With the power i just assumed that in the life is strange universe trauma activates the power like Lis:1 seeing someone get shot Lis:2 accidentally severely hurting someone and his dad getting shot Lis:TC mom dying from cancer, dad leaving, and going into foster care system.
Maybe like 1 in 10 people have powers, but you need a shock/trauma to activate them, that's why powers are so rare. (The most comun powers are psychic powers like telekinesis, empathy and telepahty. And the most rare powers are space-time manipulation powers, like Max time powers and Tristan space manipulation powers)

I was just glad that i somehow got through this nightmare. I was really bad in playing this part, without constantly getting noticed by someone. xD

I take Warren’s creepy locker in Max’s nightmare to moreso refoect Max’s insecurities. The emphasis on all the half-nude females with Max’s head plastered over them seems to indicate more her genuine fear that she doesn’t actually have meaningful connections to people, she knows that Warren has a huge crush on her and in the nightmare it’s translated into Warren viewing her just as a sex object, this relates to for example the very explicit moments where she sees alternate Maxes and Chloes telling her that Chloe doesn’t actually care about her and instead just manipulates her, going so far as to equate Max’s attachment to Chloe to ”stockholm’s syndrome”.

Yup, I don't think that's Warren's true nature or anything. He's awkward and while he has some weird moments(that photoshopped image of him and Max), but I don't think that he's just an evil creepy stalker. I think that if that was what he's meant to be, they'd show it to us, or at least not let us kiss him.
Elliot is the character that always felt to me like the authors of Before the Storm took what some fans say about Warren, and actually made that character.

In Before the Storm Chloe's truck has the license plate "Anbonny", a reference to Anne Bonny, a woman pirate. It's probably my favorite reference in any of the games bc of the moments talking about Max and Chloe wanting to be pirates when they were little.

@@ilc4tsp119 one of the firsts times you go with Chloe to the junkyard, if you explore a lil bit, you'll find Rachel and Chloe's hiding spot, with a grafiti that says "Chloe was here. Rachel was here."
The player is given the choice to add "Max was here".
Later, at the end of episode 4, if you go back to that hidding spot before finding the body, red paint will be over the grafiti saying "Rachel IS here" and, if the player chose to add Max's name, both Max and Chloe will be circled and the phrase "You're all gonna die here" will also be there.

2. There are some unused audios of Max that would make the romance with Chloe more evident.
3. Michel Koch (co-director of the game) is one of the characters that appears in reality when Max goes to San Francisco.
4. In the prequel during a Chloe dream there is a drawing of Max (18 years old) hanging in a tree pointing to a possible theory that she suicide her after the sacrifice Chloe.

I chose to save Chloe because of an inconsistency. None of the other minor changes that max makes cause world altering events and yet for some reason saving somebody from dying is where the universe draws the line. This leads me to believe that human life is an important thing within the life of strange universe. That's why I don't believe Max just got her powers randomly like an X-Men mutation or something. I think she should be allowed to use her powers however she wants and if the universe didn't want her using them it shouldn't have given them to her in the first place
I always saw the world altering events being due to Max's sustained use of her powers and that Chloe's death was the catalyst for all of it - the first time she ever uses her powers was to save Chloe and everything spiralled from there (hence the Butterfly Effect that is so ubiquitous in the game), so by going back to before she ever used her powers she is essentially wiping the slate clean.
Not a perfect explanation, I know.
The purpose of her getting her powers was to teach her a lesson. To face her shadow self and nightmares and insecurity and flaws, to bond with an old friend , see what she missed out on by ghosting, instead Chloe would’ve just died and max would’ve felt some regret but not much because she moved away and didn’t keep in touch. The universe gave her her powers to teach her to be more brave and value her relationships more so she won’t have any regrets.

i believe the theory that maxs powers came from rachel. Think about it, She has the vision of the tornado before she ever saves chloe- before she ever USES her power (if she even has it by that point). Meaning that the tornado was already on its way. Also Rachel seemed to have a bit of control over the wind, and if so, a tornado is EXACTLY what shed use to get revenge on the town that killed her. Lastly, if the power came from "the universe" why would it try to correct chloes death? clearly it wanted her to be saved if it granted max these abilities, so why was the tornado and the snow and the eclipes's happening? Why was chloe shot 2 more times in the same week? why did her foot get stuck on the tracks right when a train was coming? why try and correct her death if it believed chloe needed to be saved that day? because it wasnt the universe that gave her that ability. It was Rachel. Rachel knew she was going to destroy that town, and she wanted to give chloe the chance to live their dream, the one she would never be able to. So she gave max the abilites, sent her visions of the tornado, and even led her to the one spot that would be safe for them to stay..the lighthouse. I believe rachel was the cause for it all.

I am still pissed that they didn't add the hospital ending as a secret ending. It would have been perfect as a "You have to do everything perfect" ending or as an ending where you would have to find some kind of hidden interaction in a previous level.

I'm surprised Sunday Blombergh wasn't mentioned in this video, but the controversy surrounding her and Rachel remains. Essentially, Rachel's missing poster was found to be far too similar to that of Sunday Blombergh's missing poster (yes, a real woman who went missing and was discovered to have been brutally murdered) to be coincidental. The layout of the poster, the phrasing of the recognizable features section, the date Rachel and Sunday went missing, and even the sherrif number past the central office code are all the same. Granted, it was probably accidental, the developer likely just wanted to see an example of an American missing poster and found Sunday's, but it's still pretty dark.
so this poster, mixed with Rachel's poster, was actually the image for tier 6 of the iceberg. I blurred it for the video (along with tier 5 and tier 7's images) because it's potentially triggering but it shows that the author of the iceberg knew about it, but didn't include it in the final iceberg. It's interesting, but as you said, it's quite dark so I understand the choice to leave it out. It's definitely an interesting fact though, I'm glad you brought it up and in such a respectful way.

I don’t really think it was accidental, they gave Rachel the same tattoos as Sunny and even put them in the same place as where Sunny had them. I remember Sunnys daughter making a tiktok about how she found it disgusting how they used her moms missing poster and not asking for her families permission for such blatant copying. I don’t think the studio even apologized or said anything about it when she called them out
I honestly think that the powers these characters have, need a catalyst and that’s just kinda it. We don’t know how they’ve been chosen yet.
With Rachel, the shock she had from her situation awoke her powers.
With Max, her watching someone die awoke her powers.
With Daniel, him watching his dad die awoke his powers.
And with Alex, haven’t seen anything on it yet because I need to play it, but I assume an event will cause her powers to awake as well.
Major spoilers: for Alex, when her mom died of cancer, her dad left her and her brother, and then her brother went to juvenile prison. That’s what awoke her powers. Being completely alone. And what’s interesting is that, with high amounts of empathy can be caused for dealing with large amounts of trauma.

@@GrimSpookz her having powers is not confirmed tho, it's highly hinted tho. A lot of people think the way the wind goes when she screams is just a cinematic effect for dramatic purposes. And I think the reason why the fire suddenly dies when she's in hospital is that she is symbolized by fire a lot.

I feel like it doesn't get brought up much but I'd love to know how Rachel ended up dating Frank...they don't address it once in Before the Storm but made it a pretty big deal in the first game. I'd love to hear theories on how that relationship came to be.. it seems pretty out of character and strange she'd cheat on Chloe.

obviously they hinted it in before the storm but it's still odd how she told both frank and chloe that she wanted to leave arcadia bay with them (at diff times obviously). i've seen lots of people say she was just using him for drugs or whatever but it really does seem like she changes so much between before the storm and the first life is strange game. she had also developed feelings for jefferson and was planning to tell chloe but the thought of it seemed to scare her? i think rachel's crush on jefferson could also be talked about more.
i think the relationship that rachel and chloe had is very unclear even if you choose to be romantic with her in before the storm. they never make anything like super official which isn't bad but maybe it would have been a way for rachel to have felt justified for what she did, which would be messing around with these men without chloe's knowledge. i think even without them being romantic it would be weird to do so much with frank and jefferson and not tell your best friend which makes me wonder how rachel really thought of chloe. i know chloe could get angry and aggressive but i wonder how much rachel really trusted her. i guess since she at least thought of telling chloe about jefferson and probably would have if she had not died.
personally i feel like rachel always just liked looking for whatever would make her feel something in the moment. what rachel had with chloe in before the storm was probably something she hadn't experienced before, and she keeps looking for new experiences. she probably just messed around with frank a bit and when she saw a chance to leave she took it. same with jefferson, except she wasn't the one who had the upper hand in that situation unfortunately. i think she genuinely cared about these 3 to some degree, but always failed to consider how things would occur if these people ever came across with one another or maybe always felt like she could control a situation where chloe found out anyway when she was still alive.
i like to think maybe after before the storm happens, in the ending where she doesn't meet her mom rachel tries to find her mom somehow through frank but either finds a dead end or maybe she gets too frustrated with him in the end. in the ending where she does meet her mom, since frank in a way helped chloe and rachel she could have possibly felt grateful and spent some time with him which could have led to more. either way i think their relationship would have started a little after before the storm ended, since it feels like they spent quite some time together.

Another theory that I read a long time ago after my first playthrough was that William was the doe. I know that it makes more sense for it to be Rachel, but the symbolism of Williams snow globe and how William loved Max like a daughter really got me looking at this as plausible as well. He was leading them to Rachel and leading them to safety at the lighthouse and in BtS he was there for Chloe before her showdown at the end.

That reveal of Jefferson being the killer will always live in my mind rent free. This game isn’t perfect, absolutely not, but I kinda miss the time when I’d be waiting for the new episode of LIS to come out so my fav streamers could play it. I’ve heard great things about the new games, mostly that they’re even better than the original, but LiS 1 will always have a unique feeling to me.

Long time LiS fan here! The prequel Before the Storm is almost as good, True Colors is also nice, but LiS 2 was terrible to be quite honest -and I really wanted to love it and kept an open mind being that it featured all new characters.😅 But it’s just so annoying/frustrating that the character you’re playing isn’t the one with the super power but instead your immature little brother is who gets you into trouble constantly when he’s not busy throwing temper tantrums. Also because the story isn’t set in one fixed location, you barely get to know the other characters because you obviously continue to meet new people wherever you go.
I’m nervously/excitedly awaiting LiS Double Exposure though.
Just had a epiphany: when max thinks she stopped the clocked from working because she messed up time but finds a lady bug stuck in it.. this could reference the tornado, and how max thought it was her rewind powers but it’s in fact Rachael is stuck and is the cause!!!
I know a lot of time passed since you wrote this comment, and I honestly love your idea, but I just realized that maybe the ladybug tries to represents the “action dot” on the time reversing thing on the corner when you reverse time with Max, which is basically a clock, and you know it always goes in the opposite direction of a normal clock when you reverse. So maybe It’s an indication that Max’s right when she says It’s her fault
The 8 episodes thing is actually not true, the file that those references are found in is a remnant from Remember Me, as LIS1 was built on top of the same engine (the same file even still references Lilin, Adrift (which was RMs original name) and other Remember Me elements).
Why the CEO mentioned EP6 and onward, no idea, since even in 2013 and 2014 they had only 5 episodes planned, as confirmed by a leaked prototype and several ANCIENT pieces of concept art.
It's possible that he was only vaguely aware of how LIS1 was made, since CEOs usually are more busy with the "management part" of a studio/company.
As a comparison, the Telltale Higher Ups usually had no idea what exactly was going on with their games until they saw them in person long into development.
Also, LIS1 literally did not have the room, time, or budget to _possibly_ add 3 more episodes, LIS1 was a "do or die" project.
Had it failed, Dontnod would have went bankrupt, so they tried saving money wherever they could - hence why they Remember Me as its base.

I'm the one who always thought that Saving Arcadia Bay is the right choice and there's no doubt about that. That is a very sad ending, but that was for the best for everyone. For that nice town and its citizens who we've become friends with trough the game.

Always the save Chloe ending. I'm a firm believer in Rachel being the storm all along. Along with the evidence in this video, a previous video I've seen linked Rachel's character in the Tempest play with her, heavily implied, powers. In the play, she plays Prospero/Prospera. "Prospero is skilled magically and uses magic to create storms, provide entertainment, manipulate others, and exercise power and control over the lives of others. Prospero enjoys knowledge and learning, particularly the learning of spells." You cannot prove to me that Rachel was not the storm. As for the storms purpose, I believe it was either to avenge her own untimely (no pun intended) death, or to inevitably bring Chloe to be with her. Either way, Rachel WAS the storm, you can't convince me otherwise.

@Kidtoon one more idea I had is the storm is the universe trying to correct itself it needs chloe to die so it keeps setting up these scenarios for chloe to end up dead the storm was literally a foreshadowing to max that if she does what she is about to do even tho she doesn’t know that she is about to walk in on chloe getting shot that it will have a really bad consequence regardless of how she tries or how many times she attempts to save her the universe is foreshadowing to max that overall chloe will have to die or you will have to sacrifice many others and I can imagine even tho I haven’t read the comics that it keeps happening to them as time goes on the universe will always want to take chloe from max. It’s only right considering max left chloe alone for no good reason. The universe is a great balancing act max just likes to unbalance it losing chloe is the lesson the universe is teaching max about keeping your friends close to you and not letting them go. To me anyway.
I always thought that the storm happened because Max saved Chloe, primarily cause throughout the game Chloe is placed in deadly situations and Max keeps saving her, suggesting that the world is trying to kill her and that the storm is its last attempt by destroying the whole town. It is also implied that the storm doesn't appear when Max lets Chloe die.
It's not even implied, it's a fact that the storm doesn't appear. Due to the nature of Max's powers, when she has travelled back in time using photographs she always reappears in the exact time frame that she left, she leaves on wednesday at 13 and comes back conscious on that same wednesday at 13 (this is and example).
That means when she leaves in the 5th episode and returns after Chloe's death it MUST be at the same moment as when she left, which was in the middle of the storm. So yeah, Chloe caused the storm by simply living.
It‘s been yeaaaars and I still will never get sick of lis theories 😂 I remember the whole thing with Nathan mentioning the storm and I was so hyped! In combination with the prepping and the name of the bunker i was really hoping that there would be a greater meaning behind it but sadly they didn’t work it in.
There was also one theory that Rachel not only was romantically involved with frank but also with mr Jefferson! The letter you can find at the junkyard doesn’t really describes frank and people think it describes Mr. Jefferson more

Which is why so many loved her, but really she was a leech and used everyone around her to better herself. Which was her downfall. Her choices and disappearance is what drags other characters down like Chloe, Max, Nathan, Frank and her parents. She befriended them only to better herself which led those characters to make decisions that made their lives so much worse.

Theory:
The Prescott family runs a secret company that is responsible for managing and studying the space-time continuum. Nathan's father gives him drugs to develop some kind of ESP (Extrasensory perception) like precognition or directly Max's powers to use them to his advantage, because remember: Max's power is a psychic power (she manipulates time with her mind.)
That is why his father is so rich and mysterious. It also explains why Nathan is so sick of the head and knows about the storm.

The one with the homeless lady reminded me of something I read. I was rewatching a let's play for BTS and was reading the newer comments. I was at the part where Chloe visits Rachel at the hospital, episode 3 I believe. Some people were saying that apparently the receptionist is the homeless lady. I don't know how much evidence there was for that theory but she did resemble her. I initially thought maybe they reused some things from the homeless woman's character model but all the characters are unique and never look alike so that wouldn't make sense. It makes me curious about her story but it seems like it would fit if it really was her.

I would add the drawing in Chloe's dream hinting Max committed suicide. I have two theories for this
One of them is that Max did commit suicide, but not the Max we know, that could be Max If she'd never awaken her powers and just stayed still letting Nathan kill that girl and then finding out the girl was actually Chloe. Max probably felt guilty for not even trying to contact her despite being back in town for weeks after leaving for 5 years and not saving Chloe when she finally gets to see her - which led me to think that the responsible for Max powers and the whole LIS story could actually be Rachel/Chloe trying to save Max and the storm is Rachel/Chloe pushing Max accept Chloe's death after learning she was meant to die anyways
My other theory, which I think it's the most plausible, is that the drawing represents Chloe's unconscious fear : the fear that the reason Max never tried to contact her its bc she's dead or the fear that the reason Max never tried to contact her its bc she does not care about her anymore - implying that Chloe doesn't want to believe that Max never cared about her, she would rather believe she's just dead -

I'd like to add a spin to the first theory.I always thought that that drawing was meant to show what happened after the ending where we let chloe die becuz we shouldn't forget that Max still remembers the whole week.A week where she was ambushed,drugged,kidnapped (the whole backroom trauma),watching chloe die multible time and others in the storm ect.So imo in the ending where Chloe dies Max can't bring her trauma up to no one or deal with it cuz in that timeline 'it didn't happen' and this would prob eat at Max's mental state enough for her to commit suicide.This would also add to the other ending becuz it would make it a bit more selfish in a sense,max would save herself from her ulter-timeline fate by saving chloe and having someone to talk ab her ptsd with (and ofc add to the let chloe die ending cuz by letting her die you would doom max with her)But idk opinions? :3

Did you know that Arcadia Bay is a real place? It's actually a city near where I live in Oregon called "Tillamook." The light house on the coast is also real, it's in a small town on the coast of oregon called Astoria. I grew up here and I just remember when Warren asks Max if she would go with him to the NEWBERG drive in I almost couldn't believe it. Newberg is the small town I grew up in and I definitely remember taking more then one date to the Newberg Drive-In. It's a real place, although sadly closed now.

I don’t know how I feel about warren. I always liked him but felt a little unnerved by his obsession; however I don’t think he’s some major creep, I think he just idolizes Max. Ive had a couple people who liked me behave the same way as him, but it was never because they were creeps. It was more so because they had only known me for a couple months and hadn’t had a crush on someone like me before so they put me on a pedestal in their head (I think this especially makes sense since max and warren have only known eachother for a little bit). The nightmare sequence thing I thought was related to different timelines/realities, so the locker doesn’t really prove anything other than there is probably a version of warren that is a stalker, but that doesn’t mean that it’s our warren in the game (if it was, I feel like his actual pool locker would have shown hints of that), or that max also thinks he has an obsession, but that doesn’t mean he’s actually a stalker. As for him peeking through the window, remember that max has his thumb drive which has a folder named max (dana saw it and wasn’t creeped out by it so it stands to reason it’s probably not smth super weird or creepy, just evidence of his crush). He probably wants to see if she left the dorm yet to give it back to him cause it’s embarrassing. Maybe it’s just my own bias from personal experience, but there’s a lot of awkward dudes out there and Warren just seems like one of them.
I admit that when I was a teenager I was dumbfounded by girls, maybe I had some qualities of Warren, however the fact that he hinted sex to Max in the first conversation, indicates as if he was only trying to "play hero" during the game to get into the pants of Max and that's disgusting..

I don’t wanna be like “no one found an issue with him so there’s no issue” cause that’s not always the case but maybe it’s up to interpretation. I would be really uncomfortable if the game was leading me to believe we could choose to have max end up with a stalker, alone, or with Chloe (I like Chloe as a character but she’s a little too… morally corrupt for me to want max to pursue a relationship with)
When I find a video or discussion about this game, I can't help thinking bout the "Stockholm syndrome" kind of relationship I have with it. It made me cry a lot and still does and yet, it's my favorite game. The depression vibe it gives is somehow.. calming to me. Weird

In the "I cant live here anymore" section, I hear "I feel stuck here" so I think that fits live is strange well. I never noticed warren stalking, really scared me. This is a game you can play for the first time and feel like you know everything, there's something really sentimental about it, relaxing. This isn't in the video but i feel super bad for Nathan, he fucked up and killed Rachel accidentally, And I'm absolutely in love with the red vs blue theme, in the start Victoria kinda has a purple tint to her cashmere coat, I think this is to give the idea we don't know if we like her or not but yeah i just think that's really cool. I kinda think that the butterfly is something to do with Rachel, as when Chloe was checking the stalls she stopped where the butterfly was and didn't check behind, think that's something cool too. I just realized that the gray bucket with water inside in the girls bathroom where the blue butterfly lands on could symbolize the storm as a waterspout and the butterfly landing on it could be butterfly effect of what's going to happen. The butterfly flying away when Max takes a picture of it could mean that maybe it's the different choices that Max has to make the butterfly leaving means that she let Chloe die in the bucket itself means she chose Chloe instead of Arcadia Bay. That's my theory I guess.

There's the theory that the person who screams "Say yes!" during the theater play of Chloe and Rachel in BTS ep. 2 is Steph Gingrich. The voice is really similar to Stephs, Steph also knows about Chloes crush on Rachel and heckling suits her personality imo since she's very confident and also very good at bantering as seen in the Wavelenghts DLC
I think there were also some leaks of episode 3 of Before the storm that showed code of some sort of unused choices that Chloe could make. One of them was "sing lullaby", which was never used.
There's the theory that fire is often used as a symbol for Rachel Amber in BTS. In Chloes nightmare William tells her that fire is beautiful but dangerous - that description fits undeniably Rachels character- Chloe who is totally drawn by her beauty and charisma but ends up being hurt by her erratic and unpredictable nature. The nightmare foreshadows and Willliam kind of "warns" Chloe about Rachel. Rachel also says "From what I've tasted from desire, I hold with those who favor fire". In the nightmare sequence of episode 1 she also went up in fllames. And there's this whole theory about her and the forest fire that is already mentioned in the video :) Basically Rachel IS fire lmao
I also always wondered what the phrase "Rachel Amber forever" meant. It's engraved into a school table in Blackwell Academy. It seems a bit mysterious to me, somehow like it's written by someone who sees the bigger picture and knows that Rachel is part of something bigger, like the storm for example.

I still feel like this game is a masterpiece and this also makes it feel so strange how many ppl hate it for it‘s flawed „cringe“ teen dialogue while being unable to appreciate it for anything else rhat the game does so fantastically well. Like, it‘s one of those games that just feels genuinely soothing to me. Like home for some reason and I‘m not even american. There‘s just such genuine artistic value and fantastic story telling in the game and even the character writing is stellar imo. I also always liked the American Girl song theory especially about it cause it fits so well what kind of theme the game really seemed to be about. Telling a story about american girls but in a genuine realistic way. Flaws and all. I mean just the complexity of chloe and Max are so well established and I genuinely love their relationship too and the possibility to be queer. I genuinely love this game and am ultra excited to try all other life is strange games as well because of how much they mean to me. Everything about them feels just so kind and loving in a strange way and so whenever my chronic pain gets really bed I use it as a last resort to cope with the
Pain until it passes. It‘s magical what games like this one can do for people. And I do really think it overshadows all the hate from the salty gamerbro crowd who can‘t comprehend women or young girls can be fully developed characters instead of sexy lamps.

It’s weird, like really weird with alternate realities becoming a normal thing and a couple new “super” powered individuals, but it is some of the most heartwarming and heartbreaking stuff I’ve ever read.
The final issue will drop in March next year and it shall kill me to wait.

I spent no time on the final choice, it was a no-brainer to pick chloe. yes she's got lots of problems, and encourages max to take part in shady behaviours that max isnt comfortable with, but at the end of the day, i really resented the idea that chloe is 'fated' to die, and letting her live felt like a defiance of that. but i also dont think it's a right-or-wrong choice, it just reveals something about your own character. great video btw!

I'm an older gamer. I didn't think I would relate to this game, but I like to try games that are popular.
I was blown away! This is some deep stuff. Max is a Caulfield! Catcher In The Rye! I knew then I'd have some fun.
The twist and turns were rarely predictable.
I'm glad it shows real issues that affect younger people as they come of age. But, I was able to identify, and share feelings with our characters.
We had choose you adventure books as kids, but the presentation is much better in a video format. Also, the themes are better, as it doesn't treat its audience like kids, but young adults.
I had more than fun. I had vicarious love, happiness, sorrow, fear, and felt how using good intentions can go bad. We can do everything right, and still lose. I may have even shed a few tears...
I have the second one now, I'm starting the second chapter.
Kate's sister Lynn might have been kidnapped by mister jefferson as well, there is a picture in Kate's room with her whole family and we see she has two sisters, lynn is the one with the glasses and her hair held up in a ponytail. There is a model used as a background character which looks exactly like lynn. In the ending of episode 2, we can see a folder with lynn written on it.
I wish the game was longer. We never got to know what was Samuel’s deal. Never got revenge on Victoria, Brooke is a super shallow character, we didn’t get to explore more of David, and Max’s relationship with Warren

My first playthrough of the game broke me. I ended up saving Chloe and had so much guilt about it but I felt like I needwd to. The other times I've played it I let her die. But since then ive been reading the Comic series set after the first game and I love them so much. When the remaster comes out i'll probably save Chloe.
I think as far as world building its the better choice. Especially just seeing how it affects the people who survived. David when he shows up in 2 and also Steph and Mikey in the new Wavelength DLC.

I chose chloe the first time I ever played the game in 2015 and the only thing I'm bummed about it that the other ending would've hit so much harder had I chose it myself when I played I still cry now but the first time would've been so much harder
I recently replayed LiS and I chose to save Chloe. I couldn't get myself to sacrifice her. I also don't believe that *everyone* in Arcadia Bay dies from the storm.
There's actually a popular theory that the hospital Kate can reside in if you save her is outside of the hospital, meaning even if you sacrifice the town she survives
Yes it's confirmed in the spinoff book Steph's Story that not everyone dies - Steph and Mikey live by hiding in a basement, for example. But many of the other characters do die like Warren, Joyce, Drew, etc.

I just finished a re-playthrough with my brother after about 5 years, and it still hits just as hard. It's such a beautiful game. However we ended up choosing Bay over Bae, as the older I get the more I realise that chloe actually was a bad friend to max, and that honouring chloe's decision to be truly selfless at the very end is the most moral choice. I did cry as soon as I saw frank and Pompidou at her funeral though.

Something I found interesting is the topic of how Max was able to rewind and end up back in her seat when she first sees Chloe get shot in the bathroom. I've seen theories that that was actually still part of her vision/dream and that her first rewind was actually saving her camera in class. It could also just be a plot hole since that's inconsistent with how her power actually works in-game.
Yes I think the game kinda changes her power's mechanics to fit the plot 😁 but that's a cool theory!!
During my very first play through I chose to save Chloe because there was no proof that the storm wasn’t going to happen if she died. I was thinking that because Max had the vision of the storm before anything had happened it was already coming

Im pretty sure Warrens aggression towards a School bully who beat him up and threatened his crush, then later tried to kill him - "You are so fucking dead!" *Brings out gun* - must have made anyone pretty furious. Honestly i wish the police existed in this world because Nathan should just get arrested, but if you wouldnt be mad at someone you didnt do all of the above to you, you have the restraint of a saint. Also, I never saw the Nightmare locker real, but rather her personal fears of Warren.

I love the idea that nathan experiences visions and glimpses into the future as a sort of cosmic effect of what he did to rachel. As if when he hurt her and caused her death, some of her ability was transferred for him but no power to change fate, leaving him helpless and desperate like she was as revenge

In Life Is Strange Before The Storm and go to the stage scene when Chloe and her father are on stage sat on a "car" which is four seats (i think it was a dream of hers), you can look through the messages, journal, etc and see its changed a lot. But the one message from Rachael freaked me out because she said: "I've been dead for millions of years."

Instrumental version of "Hole in the Earth" was used when Chloe is laying and looking upside down after her confrontation with Wells, on the junkyard
I think the storm was caused by Max using her powers and shifting energy that pushed against other energies that caused the storm. Which would explain how it got so powerful, if it got a charge each time Max used her power. And the reason it vanishes if you choose to save the town is that Max erased all the times she used her power and there were no energies to build up the storm.
The butterfly effect theory is the only plausible theory about the storm. I understand and appreciate other theories on this subject. There is too much evidence within the game to deny this outcome. Nature always finds balance.
This was actually not as dark as I expected from an LIS iceberg. But really interesting on a non creepy level

I like the Rachel theory that she caused the storm, it makes sense, seeing as if it is true she had powers and didn't know who really killed her until max found out, her anger in the afterlife caused her to wipe that town off the map, would have been Rachel's way of mercy to what's happened in that town behind the scenes
I also interpreted the nightmare as a taste of the afterlife. Purgatory or Hell itself. It made the scene a lot more creepy than just a nightmare.

The best theory is that Mr Jefferson is the good guy. Mr Jefferson was hired by Nathan's dad to kill Max, the genocide time traveler who destroys Arcadia Bay. Nathan can see the future so he told his psychiatrists about his visions. Nathan's dad heard those visions from the psychiatrists. An argument that Nathan has time travel powers could be seen in his vision, in his cry that everyone will die and don't forget that Nathan has headaches and nosebleeds way worse than Max had. Nathan even yells: you will all die. In the cut-out audio Nathan even knew that the storm was coming so Nathan has definitely visions which are an early sign of time travel powers and they were not fully developed yet, maybe because the medicines he took suppressed his powers. Mr Jefferson's job was to find: a girl, with time travel powers, who will destroy Arcadia Bay. In the dark room Jefferson said: "how do you know that?". He could be referring to: Max is heavily suppressed so she shouldn't be able to use her powers. Conclusion: Jefferson is an every day hero and Max is the evil time traveler who, in the end, succeeded in destroying Arcadia Bay. Max is so evil, that she didn't even drive to her mother to check if she's still alive and if not, bury her in the ground, but no, she doesn't even blink an eye to leave the village as fast as possible, in order to drive to New York (according to David in LiS2), I guess Max was really trying to meet and learn from her hero Spiderman because Max' motto is: WITH GREAT POWERS, come zero responsibility

This video is the first time in yeaaaaars I've seen someone bring up Anima Gaming! I used to watch her channel so much when she was active, and she was even the one who originally convinced me to get Undertale, which quickly became one of my favourite games of all time. I'm really happy to see her getting more attention, even if it sadly reminds me she hasn't uploaded in 3 years. :c
haha I hadn't heard of her until I started doing my research but I loved watching her videos for this! she's so funny and entertaining to watch, I wish she was still around but from what I gathered she left to take care of herself, which is understandable.

I played through Life is Strange when the episodes were still coming out, and I remember waiting anxiously at my computer for the release of episode 5; it was around that time that I found Anima Gaming when I was scrawling through TH-cam for LIS content in a desperate fan rage. Hearing you talk about her videos which I remember having seen around the time that they were first uploaded gave me so much nostalgia.

since theres nowhere else for me to share theories then imma share it here. in my theory, if u chose to sacrifice chloe, everything loops back again because the blue butterfly (chloe's spirit) travels through time again to find max and gave her powers to make chloe stay alive and spend 5 days of the same things again. so its just pointless sacrificing chloe. And Max on the other hand, will just be stuck over and over and over agin and somewhere as a result she will end up as the old homeless lady with cataract. as the second result she became another max left behind while the other one where max encounter herself in episode 5 diner after unlocking the digit coded door, was another max that was corrupted (or somethin cuz i dont have any observations on it) already had enough of her own actions and try waking up the real max we play as and yet chloe still save our max. The doe in my theory, is actually william (pls dont argue cuz this is my personal theory and yes feel free to redirect me if i get this wrong) and the the tornado is actually the true spirit of rachel. ok, so in before the storm, rachel was gifted/cursed by the raven and given her the ability to control the environment like air and fire (which its clearly shown) and chloe was dreaming an illusion where the raven pretends to be william the entire time and point out a path for chloe to lead rachel to live for three years to be killed by jefferson. with this result, rachel's pain, anger and hatred grows ever larger. the question still remains; how is this connected to the storm? the answer is, max's chain reaction functions as a beacon and that beacon attracts rachel's tornado and destroy arcadia bay for the raven. after all, the raven's true purpose of all this is to regain balance and turn arcadia bay back to its original state. any thoughts of these thoery? im not really good at explaining cuz some of these have bad vocabularies which leads to my sentences that doesnt make sense and oso, im not good at elaborating these theories in order (btw srry if i messed up some of em and do pls comment some resposes on what u think). some are already told in the vid btw and still..... im cryin for a sequel of max and chloe not a remaster (the remastered doesnt change anythin and they only changed the graphics abit to look more human and polished"

Maybe like 1 in 10 people have powers, but you need a shock/trauma to activate them, that's why powers are so rare.
(The most comun powers are psychic powers like telekinesis, empathy and telepahty. And the most rare powers are space-time manipulation powers, like Max time powers and Tristan space manipulation powers)
