Doc’s ability to paint his sinker/cutter combo was unparalleled. Against lefties, he could dot a front hip sinker or a back door cutter, even run the cutter in under the hands. Against righties he had zero fear of front dooring his cutter and back dooring his sinker. Not to mention his wipeout change and curve. He was legendary.
@@choiyatlam2552 He was at a big disadvantage his whole career because he was against the yankees and red sox a huge portion of his games when they were 90+ win teams. If Halladay was in the central or west I am confident he gets 1-2 more Cy Youngs
I'm still pissed no baseball games give you the option of throwing a split change it's b******* that's one of those devastating pictures if you can use it right
It was unfortunate but he just threw so many innings his arm just got tired. I remember seeing a picture where Roy Photobombed a fan wearing his jersey at an amusement park. The fan had no idea. 😂
A slight difference in grip which changes the motion. A sinker will tend to drop more than move laterally, while a two-seamer mostly moves away from the release direction of the arm and drops a little bit. Of course this all depends on the pitcher's mechanics and their arm angle too--a sidearm release tends to produce more sideways motion and an over-the-top release produces more vertical motion.
Watching Doc and Cliff Lee Was Awesome, They Were My Favorite Pitchers To Watch
It's pretty cool how Doc was shown the cutter grip by Mariano Rivera at the All-Star game.
Still can't believe he's gone.What a phenomenal pitcher.
RIP ROY HALLADAY
Great work with all these videos. Really enjoy watching them all.
Thank you very very much. It means a lot
He would be a monster in mlb the show with that sinker/cutter/split change
you got your wish!

Second to none, except for Greg Maddox. Best control pitchers ever. Also can’t leave Jamie Moyer out the discussion
RIP ROY....
That split-change is absolutely filthy
Loved his pitching in real life and the bigs 2 ;(
Miss you doc
the greatest pitch that he ever learned from Mo Rivera. The cutter
One of the most underrated pitchers of all time.
He was a first-ballot HOF and is a local hero in Philly and a National one in Canada. He is more than recognized for his talents.
Adam LeBlanc Sadly, it is most likely due to his death that he gets in that quickly. Nonetheless, still a great pitcher.

And when he really felt like rearing back, he could still chuck a fastball 97 or 98.
RIP Doc.
His knuckle-curve was one of his best pitches. He got hitters out all the time with it, and usually was much sharper than these clips here
Randy Johnson please.

just curious: what is the difference between a 2 seamer and a sinker?
