please don't have role models. People will let you down as they're human. Have inspirations and leave it at that. For example she took time off for personal reasons due to her families circumstances can't share details, imagine you are a young black girl wanting to follow her footsteps as she becomes a professor only to find out she took a different route? now she may continue or not it's up to her, the point is, don't have role models, have inspirations. And yes she is very inspirational to many people;
This is great advice! I'm starting my PhD program in August :) I just graduated from my master's program and to be honest, didn't find it too difficult. But I am terrified about this doctorate!
"Write everything down" PREACH IT. I will eventually learn that "oh, I'll remember that. I don't need to write that down" is the biggest lie that I tell myself.

I am writing my PhD in Economics . Just sent my first draft my Supervisor one and he sent me comments that really put me off. Just trying to pull up again.
TO BE HONEST i did a phd cause it was 3.5 years of free money lol i didn't want to get a real job too bad my fundings run out and i still have 1 month left to write lol
@@nastehoabdoulkader8722 thanks, it went mostly well got 2 publications and writting another two along with finishing thesis, ill probably just copy paste the other two papers as chapters lol and change some words :)
Hey, do you know any courses science based mainly or any other, I can do that are free. Bc I’m just wasting time, waiting for a level results and I really wanna do like a course or something to learn instead of wasting time!! Even any TH-cam videos that teach Lectures
Check platforms such as Coursera, EdX or Udemy. I would recommend Coursera/ there are so many options there to gain knowledge. If you need a certificate, you can purchase it once you’re done with the course. Have a check. I hope this helps. Good luck!
A PhD seems very scary. The very prospect of having to write a long ass thesis for 4 years...added with poor funding, I couldn’t do it. I commend anyone who can though.
Thal Lu I never said I applied to a PhD programme, my comment was purely stating the realities of what life as a PhD student would be like seeing that I am an undergrad student. Come correct next time.
suzan math I can’t see why it should! If anything, it should strengthen the application as it shows you are dedicated to the topic. Just make sure you emphasise on your practical experience. Good luckN

Never apply for PHD programs that have no or poor funding. That was a mistake surprised nobody told you never do this.

If I apply for 2 phD positions in same department because the topics are quite similar would that hurt my application??
