Sieneke will be singing the Eurovision entry for The Netherlands. An upbeat song called "Ik Ben Verliefd (Sha-La-Lie)".
The Netherlands have had quite the rollercoaster journey in Eurovision.
Not only have they achieved first place four times, they have also been last four times.
Will Sienke make it a fifth win for The Netherlands with this catchy number?

Terwijl de meeste Nederlandse inzendingen van de laatste 25 jaar voor het Eurovisiesongfestival allang zijn vergeten,wordt er nog steeds over Sieneke's deelname en liedje gesproken..."Sha La Lie"is een van de meest bekende Nederlandse songfestivalliedjes allertijden :Iedereen in Nederland kent het en iedereen zingt het mee!...Ondanks alle kritiek nog een succes!
Ik ken t niet en kom er nu pas achter omdat iemand het erover had! Miss dat iedereen die jij kent het liedje mee kan zingen maar niet "heel NL" en ik ben 36 😂😂

i have to admit that first i thought this was quite embarrassing but when reading all comments from people outside my country i feel almost proud haha :D Dont forget that this song almost qualified! 11th by televoters but the juries didnt let this through, its a pity. Its such a fun song, why can't these songs qualify? EBU really wants to make ESC a contest with only modern songs. I love this song... I've been watching eurovision for over 20 years and this is one of the best... It ain't mainstream music but by eurovision standards it's fantastic :)

well I am dutch, and I live near Germany. It is not German, it's dutch so it can not be a schlager. A schlager (you probably know this, but I can better explain what it is if I explain this again) is a German genre where people tell things about their life, often with some pop mixed in. It is really a very big genre. This is like the dutch version, it is a ''levenslied'' which mean life song (that is the genre). It is mixed in with pop and old dutch tunes. This song is a bit of a mix.

Yes but you sang in English so BOOM back. I was talking about the languages not the countries. Latvia has won before IN ENGLISH but flopped when they sang in Latvian. Netherlands has won in Dutch before but that was back in the apolitical days

gtricks100 it's not the language, Dutch when sung sounds a lot different from when spoken. It's just the abysmal quality of Dutch-language entries that is the problem. (notable exceptions were NL1993 (6th) and NL1998 (4th) - don't know about any Belgian entries though)

I´m from sweden and i´m sorry for this song not are in final. Caus i think Netherlands(this) song was pretty good. But its ols schweitz, german, netherlands music. And its a song who makes people happy.

Onzin we zijn orgineel bezig, is wel is vaker geweest dat het niet goed werd beoordeeld we wonnen ooit met een liedje waar men cretiek op had dat vergeten velen van Nederland, wat Belgie dit jaar doet doen wij al jaren maar ook geen finale's met vakjurie's is de kans wel groter geworden!

into the top 10, that goes into the FINAL, saturday evening.
This still according to the bookmakers.

Sorry folks but I liked it! Just a bit of harmless fun which was after all what Eurovision used to be about. Holland is one of my favourite countries, great people and great times. When you see some of the other entries that got through, this song stood out a mile!
This goes back still as one of the most Eurovision sounding songs that Eurovision has to offer 😅

Ik ben blij dat Lena is op plaats 1. Maar ik kan het niet verstaan dat het nederlandse liedje niet kwam in de final show in Oslo. Sineke zingt een mooie lied in haar modertaal. Een mooie popnummer met een refrain die wij niet zouden vergeten en een mooie zomer-hit. Wat een jammer voor NL niet in de final show gekomen te zijn.

Super sang, send flere af den slags, jeres placering betyder jo intet. Sidste plads er også fint, vigtigst er at deltage, og hvor udtaler hun dog hovedstæderne tydeligt, og ikke mindst er det prisværdigt, at synge på sin moders mål.
