Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your mini lectures and outstanding knowledge. My Pop passed away three years ago from CJD and watching your videos here on TH-cam has been a sort of therapy for me in understanding such a complicated and mysterious disease.

Omg I was just searching for videos related to my Final Year Project and found this, and when I watched half of it I suddenly realized she was just the author of a Nature Review I'm working on right at this moment!!! Thanks a lot!!!

I know what you mean. I felt the same way when I first saw this. Her name is in some degree connected to like every single paper about protein misfolding in yeast.

14:20 Can someone please give me a link to the paper where she discusses the genes they got out of their Huntington's screen?

Why isn't there more research on therapeutic intervention with peroxynitrite scavengers? There was been a trial on inosine for increasing uric acid; while it did not work in men, it worked (increased serum urate and slowed progression) in women but 3 of the 14 women developed kidney stones. It seems there could be other agents that could do the job less problematically. Hamamelitannin (from witch hazel) is peroxynitrite scavenger, but I don't know if it is safe for oral consumption or even if it works in vivo.

Heat shock still may be the right answer. We have gotten used to suppressing this for comfort and maybe that is not a good thing.

How do you get extra copies of the gene?
