It’s good to see you as well as other individuals wanting to transition from non/CDL to CDL. As for me, I’m tired of the responsibility. I haul fuel and also doubles at times. It’s a headache. The public don’t respect your space. I wish you the best, continue the awesome content!!
One more thing, you keep on saying non CDL and CDL when u drive a flatbed don’t u still have to have some type of skills to maneuver the flatbed, or is it the same as driving a semi truck with a trailer
The pre-trip inspection is where most people fail the CDL. There are over 100 items to be checked on the tractor trailer, and you have to point to and say the part you are inspecting. Then you have to recite why it is in compliance. You can go in any order you want, but you have to essentially memorize over 100 sentences. So, I wouldn’t say it’s easy.
You don't need a CDL unless your carrying more than 26001 lbs. The only thing the CDL might do for you is give you a better rate and if you ;like me and have a CDL longer than 20 years. But not you do not need a CDL. CDL are now harder and cost more to get. And to EDIT one more benefit you can do "hazardard cargo" if you get that endorsement. I have that and will probably go get a TWIC sooner or later also.
got my cdl through a public school system driving school buses. It was a Class B, but I had no contract, paid training, and a CDL with S&P endorsements. Wasn't hard, and a quick way to get a CDL B.
It's best to get your CDL I got my CDL just almost in few months 25 years ago been driving semi trucks in all 48 states now just the south east states of the USA and the last 17 years as a owner operator where I own my own semi truck my CDL is a Class A when I first got my CDL I learn on a manual Transmision semi truck and a 53ft trailer I went to a CDL school through a large truck company called M.S.Carriers in Oct.1998 M.S.Carriers are no more they got was sold to SWIFT I believed in the fall of 2001the training cost me just over $1,600 this includes hotel and meals and I pay it off by working for them I took a year to pay it off
I looked into getting my CDL. From what I’ve seen around my area all the classes are manual classes required. I can drive a manual, but a manual 18 wheeler is a different ball game. I know of some guys who took their CDL test in their 1 ton and trailer. I don’t understand how that is I have yet to find that around me everything is done in a 18 wheeler.
@02:16 I disagree a CDL is not going to help if your overloaded. It might give you a bigger fine. So if my freightliner 26001lbs was overload and I get scaled, I will get a overload fine with or without a CDL. A dodge 5500 is either a 3,4,ot 5 class depending on what year you get and the Gross Axle rating. You have one 26000lb and others up to 43000k 5500
I have a class b CDL with airbrake and passenger endorsements to drive a school bus. (12 years) Does that qualify or does it get me further along in the process?
Been driving box trucks in St. Louis and Chicago for 10 years. The money isn’t what I want it to be. It’s still good but I’m going to get my CDL it’s way more money 💰
Hey man, I like your content of your page am I on the owner of Buzy Bee Lawn Care LLC I’m currently shut down my lawn care business and get into the hotshot business due to not being able to have consistent workers and is really hurting me so I just want to get into trucking I do have a lot of experience dealing with truck and trailer as well. I am getting my CDL‘s before I hop into it based on my knowledge what I got so far from your page and others that I follow but I want to get your opinion on doing hotshot part time starting off just to get your feet wet in the industry and what I mean by is, I’m also a full-time security officer at a hospital and I’m looking to go part time in that and getting going in a business that I can grow and that will eventually require me to be in it for time, so what is your opinion and intake on that or can you do a video on It
To keep it sweet and simple. A class A would be for a rig with a trailer, a B would be for a straight truck. A little more to it, but again, that's the simple version.
@Entre Mike I have a truck and flatbed. I already have my permit. Not going to need air brake endorsement. I've heard gooseneck is a no but you can test with a 5th wheel. It's not clear on the mvd website.
@@shitisee4915 not anymore you can. The thing is you need to have accredited eldt that’s submitted directly from where ever you take the course. So, more than likely that’s going to be a school & they’ll provide you with truck & trailer for the test. And if you’re testing A it has to be a setup with air brakes. The new mandate kind of took testing with your own hotshot equipment out the equation.

Great points. I say the hardest part about getting your CDL is having the time to go to the school. School is easy. Many ways to fund it.
Paid for cdl school with my cc, I'm doing weekend and night classes

Hope you guys enjoy the video! Just my opinion! Goodluck either way!
Hi I want to know how did you learn how to do the tiedowns? Because I don’t see know where to go to a class for it.

That’s a fair point
I’m a new dispatcher & I’m catering to HotShots & Box trucks. You’re videos are very helpful…. Thx

It's definitely worth it, and it only takes about 3 weeks

Started off non cdl hotshot got my cdl’s last month and tested out within 2 weeks
Curious where at??
This exactly what I'm doing as we speak,Its less worries to me

What's good! I'm looking to get into the business. I have my CDL'S. I'm from Cali
I believe your best bet is searching up a channel called “Truck Insurance” link is in the description, they do free consultations!
I have a class b CDL with airbrake and passenger endorsements to drive a school bus. (12 years) Does that qualify or does it get me further along in the process?
hola amigo , que es mejor segun tu criterio . un camion de caja de 20 ft sin cdl o hotshot sin cdl ? gracias

You need more than 1 box.. can’t just think you gone make all the money with one truck, scale your business

Henderson, NV. Looking to start up. I have a 5500 Ram. Looking to get the bigger trailers. 22k, Do you need anything out on the west coast?
I’m in the Warner Robins area and wanted to know if you have a Load Securement course? Or able to teach me if time permitted? Thanks in advance
can you help me start my business ?
🔥🔥🔥
I just got my CDL...let me tell you. It is not easy. The pretrip is a bitch and there is a lot to learn.
Inspection?
@@felixsaldivar6052 yup
As long as you have what you can get ot for free or almost free
I agree. If you are operating these massive vehicles regularly, being on the on mind-altering drugs OTC or not isn't going to help.
Still leasing on hotshot?
What happened to buddy you started out with
You could drive a heavier Box truck. With 2 axles in the rear. You need a class B to drive that.
True! I say just get the class a
It's simple the price is up because of greed! Inflation don't exist, GREED does.
Which cdl u need for hot shot , a b or c ?
To keep it sweet and simple. A class A would be for a rig with a trailer, a B would be for a straight truck. A little more to it, but again, that's the simple version.
Just get the class A fam you’re able to carry over 26k lbs
#EntreMike💙
If your box truck is only rated for 26000 lbs doesn't matter if you have a CDL, you getting fined
I’m saying having CDL equipment instead of non CDL equipment & you’d be ok.
@@entremike oh for sure
@@regoryferguson1975 thanks for pointing that out!
@entremike oh for sure. I almost bought a 33000 lbs truck by mistake.... wish I had just went thru with the sale and went and got my class B
It would have been better getting your CDL before 2023.
Why’s that?
Why?
Can you take a driving test with a 3500 and gooseneck?
Pretty sure it may be loopholes, but not going through a school. You’ll use their trucks .

Dodge Ram? I don’t think Dodge is affiliated with ram anymore.
