The song at the end, that Dan Akroyd was dancing to is by; Wilson Pickett. It's called "Land of a 1,000 dances" and you did a reaction to it like a year ago. 😃

I cant imaging going through life without John Candy in it. There's not a single movie he's been in regardless of the size of the role that I don't adore. From the stories that are told of him off screen about how he truly was the kindest, most generous, sweetest man anyone could meet. We miss you John but will never forget you.

I have read a story of some movie that he was on(I can't remember which one)where he showed up and the backstage crew thought that he was a new hire for the crew and asked him to move some heavy objects around. Instead of having a major ego-trip("Don't you know who I am. I could have you fired."),he happily helped out and didn't try to embarrass the crew members. Very humble and easygoing guy.

The Great Outdoors was a "classic". Sure, it isn't going to win an Academy Award, but it was a lot of fun with lots of laughs. I remember seeing my first bears in the great outdoors at an open pit dump in the UP of Michigan. I thought is was great, but my sisters freaked out because the bear was next to our car. Never saw a guy on crutches move so fast when he got too close to some cubs and the mama bear didn't like it! And in the Great Lakes region, yellow perch are considered a delicacy. They may not be big, but they are delicious.

The song they were dancing to at the end of the movie is "Land Of A Thousand Dances" by Wilson Pickett (link below). Wilson Pickett is definitely worth diving into! He was renowned as an energetic and intense performer during the 60s and 70s. He gained international fame with hits like “Land of 1,000 Dances”, “In the Midnight Hour”, and "Mustang Sally", and became one of the biggest black music stars of the 1960s and 1970s. Great movie reaction! Thanks you two! ✌💙✌

@@faithnyou1732 No, you're both wrong. Pickett came up via NYC's Atlantic Records, recording in Muscle Shoals, AL and Memphis, TN, with the The Swampers and Booker T. and the MGs. Motown was based in Detroit at the time. He didn't make a record for Motown until 1987. Many, many other influential Black R&B artists in the '60s and '70s came out of that area along the Mississippi: Otis Redding, Percy Sledge, The Staple Singers, Sam and Dave, Isaac Hayes, etc. _Motown_ is not a generic term for R&B/Soul music from the '60s. Every successful studio had its own "sound" and house players, from LA to Philadelphia, to NYC. Motown was a just a part of that tapestry. An important part, but just a part.

Another 80s comedy you both might like is Spies Like Us, starring Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase. As for Tarantino, there is no way to ease into his movies. Most of us discovered him from watching Pulp Fiction, and i would advise that is also where you two should start. His movies are violent and gory (although sometimes the overuse of violence and gore adds an almost comical touch)but always an interesting and fun ride. There is nothing to fear from Tarantino movies and you will love the ride.

Love the great outdoors and summer rental. Watch them every summer. As a Tarantino fan I will say I think Pulp Fiction is the mildest one of his movies. It is also IMO one of his best. His movies aren’t for PC heavy people who offend easy so just remember that as you go into it. Some great performances in that movie if you can overlook the 5 or so scenes that offend easily offended people

    • @xzonia1

Yeah, they asked what movie would ease them into Tarantino, and I thought well, Pulp Fiction is the easiest one to start with. All his movies are ... difficult for sweet, innocent souls like theirs. They will love the music in it, though, and it is an amazing movie despite the violence and rough scenes (trying to not give anything away).

When I was a boy, 12 years old in 1978, growing up in Toronto, I was downtown going door to door selling chocolate bars. I entered a building from the back, off of an alleyway and entered a strange lobby with just a few doors. One of those doors has a sign on it that I recognized. It was the Indian head emblem from SCTV (Second City). I knocked on the door and heard, "come in." When I opened the door I saw a large board table with the SCTV cast sitting around it. Rick Moranis, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Dave Thomas and John Candy sitting at the head of the table. He was smiling at me and I told them I was selling chocolate bars and asked if they'd like to buy some. John enthusiastically said absolutely come on in. I walked up to him and he bought two bars off of me and starting goading the others to buy one too. I ended up walking around the whole table to each of them. think I nearly sold out my whole box to them. As you can imagine that day is seared in my memory. My friends were sooooo jealous. I miss that man very much. A Canadian legend.n

Been a sub here for only about a month and have watched about 20 or so of their reaction vids. Something is a miss here with this one. I'm only 14min in and it seems like they cut out the funniest scenes, that they were reacting to and left partial nothing-scenes. They haven't done that before. I don't know anything about YT vid-editing but did they accidentally dump their good clips or something and may have rushed to get this one out?? It just seems all out of whack and out of context. My wife had to ask me what was funny about the two brothers in the bunkbeds and she asked me what Amber meant by "Suck My Wake", cause they didn't show it and she didn't understand about the old deadguy cause it wasn't shown and Chet eating the Ol' 96'r wasn't shown either. Just curious if there was a problem editing it.
They even cut out when Roman said, "Chet ate the Nag" and "It's been touchin' ya for 20 years". 🤣I'm not hacking on Jay and Amber in any way, but it just seems odd like their cousin sloppily edited it.

@@MAGGOT_VOMIT You're not wrong. I noticed the same things, and it occurred to me very early on that they were reacting to something they hadn't even seen yet, like the hood ornament on Roman's car. And then they were one or two clips behind for the rest of the film. And like you said, most of the clips weren't even of anything relevant.

This film is supposed to take place in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, but filmed in Northern California. Wisconsin has no mountains, Grizzly Bears(neither does Cal.) nor Giant Redwoods. Always loved that sweatshirt "I've Been To Duluth". I'll reiterate all the suggestions to watch GRUMPY OLD MEN (Warner Bros, 1993) for a hilarious, realistic portrayal of some elderly Minnesotan men.

Knew a few people on well water growing up. Was not aware there was such a thing as "good" well water.

Pulp Fiction is the quintessential Tarantino film. His style of film making is an homage to, as well as a play on, films of the 60’s and 70’s. Down to how it’s shot, themes, dialogue, ect. But it’s also told through a quirky lense. If you can find the humor and intellect in the absurd, I think you’ll love it. His movies are wild rides, I love them! And they always have stellar all-star casts.

Land of a Thousand Dances is the song performed by Wilson Pickett. J. Geils Band does a great live version.

there is a documentary about john candy that if you watch it you will fall even more in love with him, he was truly a great man. many actors in their movie contracts put demands that they want like will smith has this city block long RV that he must have, some demand different candy, or foods, or a type of water, but john always had that the cast and all crew eat from the same meal service, the cast and crew be treated equally, he bought a sports team because they were going to be disband due to lack of money, it would have hurt a town and all the families of the team so he stepped in and saved it. but go watch the documentary. RIP john

Another movie starring Bart the Bear is The Edge. It was the second film Sir Anthony Hopkins made with Bart the Bear after Legends of the Fall.
