You have to keep in mind that the witch is a role in the story of WOO, not Margaret Hamilton. Any woman who plays the witch should have her own take on it, not just try to be like Margaret Hamilton. Everyone who liked your comment needs to read mine

The mains did such a good job being in character. They didn't just speak their lines (like in so many shows I see) but they genuinely acted them out. Awesome job :)
Doing the Wizard of Oz currently as the Tinman, can confidently say this is one of my favorite numbers in the whole show! It’s fun to dance to, it’s extremely catchy, and our choreographer did an amazing job well, choreographing it! The Jitterbugs are having fun, the four of us are having fun, I’m really excited for when we perform it in a few weeks from now!

I just read about this song being deleted from the original Wizard of Oz movie. I have to say that it fits in pretty well with the storyline of the movie... too bad they deleted it. However, thanks for putting this video up so I can see it. It was well done and fun. The actors/singers/dancers were wonderful.. Bravo!
It's a good song but it bogs down the drama. Most songs in TWoO advance the plot or help define a character, but this one really doesn't. Its loss doesn't really hurt the movie.

im doing this play at my school at the moment but the performing arts teacher split dorthy in too 5 pices so it was equal for 5 girls so everyone had a chance of being the main charitor

It was basically 1930s fan service - the only reason it was added in was because the jitterbug had recently become a popular dance. Fun song, though. Good songs that are removed because they feel out of place are nothing new in the world of musicals, especially movie musicals.
a bean with intentions Yeah I learned this dance for a callback and it was much harder than the dance in this musical; the kids in this production do look fairly young though so I don’t blame them for having simple choreography.
I really wish they had kept this in the original film. In the movie we even hear the witch say to the monkeys “I sent a little insect ahead to take the fight out of them”

In 1939, Jitterbug was just a generic term for a lively dance. It didn't get its specific designation until the 1940s.
