Need me a diywilly sticker asap lol looks sick man 💯
Yes I can send you one. Just need an address. So send me an email with where to send it or message me
What year is that engine and what's the part number on that flywheel. I've never seen one like it.
Hello Steven, From my understanding this engine was built March 17th of 2004. The flywheel part# is 699573. Thanks for watching!!
Flat heads are so much fun I've got a 8h briggs I need to figure out a build for one of these days them volts mini bike out in California I don't know what it is about them but I just had to have one so early Xmas to myself I don't know what motor I'm using yet but that 224 build of your mighy be in my future I'll have to get me some stickers because we all know that's free horse power
@@DIYWilly I traded a stage 2 non hemi predator I'd had for years for a ghost the other night so I'm going to play with it after I replace the carb that is leaking everywhere
@@DIYWilly it's a vm20 I'm just going to swap it out for a vm22 I got laying around extra fuel won't hurt anything with the 6k limited rpm I'm planning on throwing it on a bt200x frame I'm down to 17 mini bikes and 3 karts right now I'm not getting anything more tell I get some of these projects caught up
Great video Willy! Inspired to start work on my 1950's Briggs again. What are your plans for this one?
I really don’t have any plans for it. I’ve always liked the flat head engines and when this showed up cheap on eBay I took a chance. Now that it’s running I’ll try it in one of the minibikes and see how it rides. After that I think of building it with all the billet $$$ stuff and detail it out to look nice. If I can find another frame I could use it in it would be nice to have an old school bike.
You should get your engine out and work on it. I find it very relaxing..
@@DIYWilly I have a 1953 Schwinn Tiger that I think would be cool to mount my 50's Briggs to keeping everything of the period and all stock, except for the brakes 😁😉
@@ocotillooutlaws4101 that sounds like a great project! I have an old Columbia tandem in the shed. It would be cool to motorize that.
That e3 plug is the only plug i had on hand my old beat up gx390 would run with. I think they are good plugs.
This is the first e3 plug I’ve used and it actually came with the engine. The engine start on the first pull and runs really good.
awesome video, do you by any chance have a link to that manifold? I have a 5hp briggs that i want to use a similar set up on
Thanks for watching!

@@DIYWilly awesome!! Thank you man keep up the good work, check out my FB group whenever you have an chance, great group of guys, we can always use some advice from people like you Big Boyz mini bikes
What’s the part number for that intake manifold?
Here is the part number but unfortunately it seems to no longer available. Try to search for it by part #. www.ebay.com/itm/400900292267
Thanks I appreciate it, should bolt up on a 3.5 Briggs as well I think. I’ve been building 3.5hps and trying to make some power with them. I made a custom manifold for mine and don’t want to spend the time to make one for my brothers 3.5 so that manifold looks like it will work. On the carb side is it the same bolt pattern for a vm22 carb?
EC carburetors have a better manifold. I use their manifold in place of this one.
www.eccarburetors.com/vm20-slide-flathead-intake-manifold
Take a look at this one..
Honestly thank you for that ec carbs link greatly appreciate it, that manifold looks perfect for the late model 3.5 case cause it has the spaced bolt hole and a good port job on the case will be perfect for some rpm! Thanks again for the information
Brapitabrapitabraaaapbraapbraaaap! It does sound good!
Thanks man it’s a strong engine but… let the mods begin. When the parts come in the mail. Can’t wait to see your run.
nice motor willy i see ball baring side cover and electric starter😄
Really ball bearing side cover? I haven’t had it open yet but was told it had bushings both sides. I would really like it to have bushings. First Briggs I’ve had.
willy the two i got one like your model 133452 one is 133402 your is flat the one with is pop out with busing
I will contact ARC for their side cover with bearings to make sure it fits my block.
Hey I also have a 5Hp but I want to put a mikuni carb on mine but do you think it would be bad for the motor and may explode it?
Hello Reese, Do I think it will explode? No.. But it all depends on the build of the engine and how you use it. I would ride this bike with a broken governor at short shots of full throttle (approx 37mph) this engine never failed. Checkout all the videos on this engine. Thanks for watching!!
I don’t know how you ride or the condition of your engine is but I would say yes you’re fine. Just don’t hold it at speed very long. Is it a 5hp? If so consider getting billet parts for durability and safety.
@@DIYWilly well the engine was sitting outside for 5 years but I’m buying billet connecting rod and piston for it so it can withstand higher rpms
Who's whistling a tune in the background?😅
Hello Adam, I have a Cockatiel bird who likes to get in my videos. Usually it’s Spike that whistles in the videos. Thanks for watching!!
@@DIYWilly that's pretty funny I just thought your camera man was in a good mood or something (don't know if you have one)LOL.i just got one of the b&s flathead motors and was trying to learn more about it .your video is especially helpful to me as you motor and mine look identical so I am currently paused in the place were you start to address the governor till I go out to garage .thank you for the video and your reply.
Even though my Briggs runs great I will be doing a rebuild soon on it. I’ve been collecting parts now for awhile and I’m about ready to get started.
You sure its a 5 horse or is it a 3.5
Hello shatner, All the research I did say it is a 5hp engine. The engine originally came off a snow plow. Thanks for watching!!
as an engine head seein him just lettin the govener arm go free without puttin a spring on it to pull it in the full throttle position hurt lol, lost a couple good motors when i was young so i understand, no hate tho lmao its your motor
That engine is more impressive than a 5 1/4" Floppy drive. Let me guess...No counterbalancer?
I don’t know I remember my old C64 floppy drive spinning up pretty good.. It did get noisier sometimes though..😂I was glad it ran as well as it did.
Your JOKE IS MORE FUNNY THAN MINE! But the engine has no counterbalancer...I assume? That is the big difference between modern engine and old ones!
I opened it up and was disappointed to see no bearings only bushings. I hope I can get a ARC side cover so it will have at least one true bearing. I’m going to put it in the 224 bikes frame and take the Briggs for a ride. I noticed the output shaft is long. Could be a good thing to help align the clutch and chain. Or I might try and find a different crank shaft.
hay willy you know the bearing will be on c/s not side cover it press on c/s
willy went you pull your governor your Maintenace go up 75%
Higher maintenance? 🤣 I think all the engines are that way! What makes this one different in you opinion? I really want to learn as much as I can before I invest to much in it.
rpm go up willy and your oil need change ever 2 hour b/s 3600 rpm all day you just made a maintenance machine now you need sip fit bearing😄
I was just looking at ARC website. I’m interested in their side cover and rod.
your block is not like mine i have a cover on front your side cover look the same i bet it a boy
Great job! It sounds like you got a good engine in this deal. Once you go down that Briggs road you'll throw rocks at everything else! 🤣🤣🤣
I am looking forward to getting at it. I need to learn so much about the Briggs engines now. Trial and error is how I learn. Need to get a TIG machine so I can weld up the block at the exhaust lifter too handle a larger cam. I’m also wondering about the long shaft? Should I get a different crank shaft for minibike use?
Hello Chris do you happen to know the size of the crankshaft bolt to hold the clutch on?
@@DIYWilly I can't remember off the top of my head. I'll check one out tomorrow and let you know what I find. I think it's a 5/16 fine thread but I'll check tomorrow.
@@DIYWilly It's 5/16 fine thread on my engine but I can't find my thread pitch gauge to tell you exactly what pitch it is. I know these bolts came from Tractor Supply so they must be 5/16 - 24
Ok thank you I’ll check it out!
