    Is it me or was every top tip to “look into the rotation”? 😂

    I cannot overemphasise the importance of non-planing sessions like this. As I started off sailing in a place with terrible wind by default I spent hours doing this sort of sailing. The benefits were immense. I keep telling my friends to do this in present day, but they sadly don't listen. A full planing backwind gybe is still one of the most satisfying transitions, and without doing the non-planing drills I'd have never done them. So get out there and have fun. The improvement in strength, balance and sail awareness is second to none. I hope everybody takes this advice! Better to do this than sail like a lawnmower on some big kit. Not always, but these you benefit more from.

    Wind starts are important to be aware of and how to perform them correctly. Those descriptions were excellent and I have known them since 1979 when I primarily learnt the sport, but both the boards, sails and techniques have improved immensely making some of those water-starts far more easy to perform.

      Thanks for your positive reply to my comments related to your Windsurfing wind starts, and as this fanatic about the sport is looking forward to further demos from you I'll always send my comments.👍

    Thank you so much for THE best explainatiom fpr the helituck. I was able to do it first try today after i kept failimg at it because my teachers explained to me in a weird and way too simple way. Now I can do it as well with the others :D

    Nice video and explanations, thanks! Hope to try the duck tack and sail/body 360 moves. For the helitack, I do slide my back hand back (my front hand slides back a little too), but for the upwind 360, I don't slide my hand back because don't need to for backwind control and it allows easier sheet out upon exit. I don't use a sail larger than 5.3 though

    • @willnicholls5
      @willnicholls5  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Very nice, sounds like you've got it dialed. and yeah same here, I don't use bigger than my 5.2. I find it easier with the small sails.

    Thanks you very much for this clear and didactical vidéo! Question regarding body sail 360: After thé 360 are you ending up backwinded? And how are you continuing?

    • @willnicholls5
      @willnicholls5  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After the 360 you should be facing the same way you started (so not backwinded) just in a normal stance going across the wind.

    Hi Wills, what kit are you using? It that an RRD EasyRider or something else? I have a Fanatic Viper 80 and a Starboard Start. I have sailed back-winded many times, but the tacks look like fun!

    • @willnicholls5
      @willnicholls5  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it’s an old Fanatic Viper around 200 litres but not 100% sure. The sail is a 4.4 Severne Freek. Awesome, yeah it’s all pretty fun!

    What size of the board you were using,I always was thinking about it,I am 170 pound average windsurfer,jibe.tuck (1on 10)on small (82l)board,jump,I try even loops (never landed any) and wanted to master tuck and learn few more maneuvers especially hellituck ,soon I am going to move to windy destination and wanna buy that kind of board,i guess it is 5.3 sail you use on the clip and you don’t go bigger on it and its working at 15-12 knots ? Regards Tomek

    • @willnicholls5
      @willnicholls5  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The board size is around 220L and I'm using a 4.4 sail. I find it most fun from 10 - 15 knots to do these light wind tricks but everything can be learned as long as there's enough wind to move.

    Which sail you recommend to me to do with 130 liters board and 10 knots ?

    • @willnicholls5
      @willnicholls5  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's quite a small board for learning light wind tricks so will be a bit harder but still possible. If it was me I'd still be using a 4.4. The moves are easier with a smaller sail but you still need a bit of power. I wouldn't go much bigger than a 5.0

    Did you ever try the Gecko? it's one of ny favorite Light wind moves, because it feels very nice 🤠

    • @willnicholls5
      @willnicholls5  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've actually never tried it, I'll have to give it a go. I'm sure it's only possible on small boards?

    What size sail are you using in this video?

    • @willnicholls5
      @willnicholls5  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a 4.4 Freestyle sail. I find it's the perfect balance of control and power for light wind freestyle.

    How did Sail-Body-360 help with your flaka?

    • @willnicholls5
      @willnicholls5  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me the feeling from the sail was very similar. Especially when I started doing the sail body 360 in stronger winds and being more aggressive with the movements.

      Haha nice 👌 “looking into the rotation” basically just means look over your should into the direction you want to go

    i have been windsurfing for around 7 years on throughout my time windsurfing everybody was calling the sail body 360 „helicopter”

    • @willnicholls5
      @willnicholls5  ปีที่แล้ว

      that's probably a better name tbf. I suppose that has a connection to the "heli/helicopter tack"
